Shweta Tiwari Recalls Ekta Kapoor Juggling 22 TV Shows, Shooting For 72 Hours: 'Soti Hi Nahi Thi'
Back when Indian daily soaps ruled prime time and every living room echoed with dramatic background scores, there was one woman quietly running the entire showbiz circus behind the scenes — and never sleeping through it. Literally.
Actor Shweta Tiwari, known for her lead role as Prerna in the iconic Kasautii Zindagii Kay, recently pulled back the curtain on just how intense the behind-the-scenes grind was in the early 2000s. And surprisingly, her biggest praise wasn't for her co-stars or her own performance — but for the powerhouse producer who juggled 22 shows at once: Ekta Kapoor.
Speaking on a podcast with Bharti Singh, Shweta didn't hold back on sharing how insane those schedules were, both for the actors and the creators. She revealed that during one stretch, she and Ekta worked non-stop for 72 hours — no sleep, no breaks.
'Ekta soti hi nahi thi, she had 22 shows running at one time," Shweta said. 'People used to ask me, 'Aren't you tired?' and I would say, 'But Ekta is working too'."
And it wasn't just about being on top of a hectic production slate. According to Shweta, Ekta Kapoor was deeply involved in the creative grind. She wasn't just making calls — she was crafting scenes in real time. 'Whenever I used to call Ekta, she would pick up the call in one ring," Shweta said. 'She used to explain the whole scene in detail."
Shweta said she often looked to Ekta for performance inspiration. 'The way she used to explain the story, one would get goosebumps," she said. 'Whenever she used to say the lines, I felt she was performing better than I. So many times, I used to try to copy Ekta Kapoor's way of delivering lines. Her passion was something."
Kasautii Zindagii Kay, one of Ekta's biggest hits, aired from 2001 to 2008 and starred Shweta as Prerna opposite Cezanne Khan's Anurag Basu. It turned into a cultural landmark thanks to its emotional rollercoaster of love, betrayal and unforgettable villains like Komolika.
The show was so loved that it got a reboot in 2018.

‘He is 65, literally grandparents ka generation': Netizens react to Suniel Shetty's comment on marriages; expert on balancing gender roles in parenting
When actor Suniel Shetty recently shared his thoughts on marriage and parenting in an interview, his comments ignited a wave of backlash online. Speaking to Pinkvilla, he said, 'Shaadi kya chiz hai mujhe samajh mein hi nahi aata. Bachhon mein patience hai hi nahi. Shaadi kuch time ke baad ek samjhauta hota hai (I don't understand what marriage is anymore. Kids these days have no patience. Marriage is a compromise after some time), where you have to understand each other, and live for each other. Uske baad ek bacha aata hai, aur patni ko yeh jaan na zaruri hai ki husband career banayega toh bachhe ko main dekh rahi hoon (Then comes a child, and the wife needs to know that if the husband makes a career, I will take care of the kids). Husband, of course, saath mein dekhega hi. Aaj kal sab cheez mein pressure bohot ho gaya hai, kyuki gyaan dene wale bohot log hain. (The husband will, of course, look after them together, but there is a lot of pressure in everything these days, because there are a lot of people to give you unsolicited advice).' He added, 'I think experience se hum seekhe toh better hota hai (if we learn, it is better) – from the mother, from the naani, from the daadi, the sister, the in-laws. I think woh cheez bohot maine rakhta hai (That is very important, I think).' His remarks, suggesting that the wife should take primary responsibility for raising a child so that her husband can focus on his career, drew strong criticism on social media platforms. Many netizens didn't hold back. While some called his mindset outdated and 'typical of Indian uncles,' others described it as outright misogynistic. One Reddit user commented, 'Honestly, guys why are you surprised. He is not exactly speaking for our generation. He is 65, literally grandparents ka generation.' Another wrote, 'So he's a typical misogynist,' while one user remarked, 'I'm a hard-core feminist. Yeah, he's imagining a world where husband is the one working, and life can continue on a single income. But there's nothing intentionally sexist about it.' Neha Parashar, clinical psychologist, Mindtalk, tells 'This assumption stems from deeply entrenched gender roles that view caregiving as a woman's natural duty and career-building as a man's. When society reinforces this narrative, it strips both partners of the opportunity to choose roles based on personal strengths, preferences, or practical realities.' Psychologically, she mentions that it positions motherhood as an obligation rather than a choice, which can lead to 'internalised guilt or resentment in women who wish to pursue professional goals.' It also places undue pressure on men to be sole providers, potentially cutting them off from emotionally rewarding aspects of parenthood. 'The first step is to remove the idea that caregiving has a default gender. Parenting needs to be viewed as a skill set, not a role based on gender. Couples should actively discuss their expectations, values, and support systems even before the child arrives,' notes Parashar. In dual-income households, transparency and planning are key. This means dividing responsibilities not just based on availability but also taking into account each partner's emotional bandwidth, career stages, and long-term goals. Most importantly, couples must give each other permission to be vulnerable, tired, or imperfect. Co-parenting is about mutual respect and emotional presence from both sides, concludes the expert.

WWE RAW: Becky Lynch Humiliates Nikki Bella With John Cena Reference
Last Updated: Bella was embarrassed at Monday Night Raw in Brooklyn when Lynch referenced John Cena. Lynch, celebrating her SummerSlam win, humiliated Bella, sparking a confrontation. Nikki Bella's appearance for Monday Night Raw at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York, on August 4 resulted in embarrassment for the WWE wrestler as she was subjected to a reference to the legendary John Cena. The incident saw women's Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch humiliate Cena's ex-girlfriend by mentioning his famous 'You can't see him" line inside the ring, amidst loud cheers from a packed crowd in New York. As the feud unfolded at Raw, Lynch came out to address her triumph at the SummerSlam 2025, where she defeated Lyra Valkyria and defended her Intercontinental Championship belt. The result meant that Lyra could no longer challenge Lynch for the prized silverware as long as she remained champion. For Becky Lynch, however, Raw was an opportunity to express her desire to take on new competitors for the belt she proudly adorned. Just as the champion opened up about eyeing a fresh challenge for the title, Nikki Bella's music hit the arena. speechless rn holy shhhhhhhh….. 😲😳 — WWE (@WWE) August 5, 2025 Bella entered the ring and confronted Lynch, telling her she was proud of all her accomplishments and equally fine handing over the women's division to her after stepping away. But The Man turned out to be a disappointment and has handcuffed the women's division. Things took a personal turn when Nikki Bella called Becky Lynch a liar, just like her husband, stating that the only difference is that Seth Rollins' lies are a little more believable. In response, Lynch claimed she and Seth are the greatest WWE couple of all time and tried to get under Bella's skin by sarcastically saying Bella and Cena could've held the tag. But the WWE Hall of Famer and her legendary ex-partner are no longer together. 'Oh wait, you can't see him anymore," Becky Lynch said, while doing the famous Cena move in front of her. As is known, Bella and Cena were in a relationship for several years, parts of which also played out fondly in WWE episodes, before the couple got separated in April 2018, just weeks before their wedding. Fuming inside, Nikki Bella eventually challenged Becky Lynch for the Intercontinental Championship match. The segment then ended with Lynch punching Nikki in the face, providing a snapshot to fans of what to expect from their fight. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Watch: Suniel Shetty Roars From Stands As KL Rahul, Team India Seal Oval Win
Last Updated: The veteran film actor and the Indian opener's father-in-law couldn't hold back his emotions after watching Team India emerge victorious at The Oval on August 4. Bollywood's veteran actor Sunil Shetty stood out as the most jubilant figure from the stands at The Oval on Monday, August 4, as his son-in-law KL Rahul and Team India defeated England to level the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-2 after a riveting Test match. Shetty couldn't hold back his excitement and joy for Rahul and the rest of the Indian players after they overcame the hosts in a breathtaking six-run win in the final Test. As the spirited Mohammed Siraj dismissed England's Gus Atkinson in the 86th over of play, cricket fever once again engulfed the nation with the sensational win. At the venue, Shetty stood up and roared from the stands, roaring, 'Let's Go!!!' to join the celebrations for the defining moment it the hard-fought trip. Having earlier waved the Indian flag with pride, Shetty poured his heart out while cheering for Team India from the stands in a beautiful moment recorded by his son and young actor, Ahan Shetty. The amusing clip has since gone viral on social media. The junior Shetty echoed the father's delight, stating in a wonderful caption: '2 incredible days at The Oval! What a game and what a win! Come on, India, always my India!" Both Sunil and Ahan would've felt a sense of great pride about Rahul's resurgence in England. After a difficult tour of Australia last winter, the elegant opener had been under pressure to deliver the goods, with his inconsistency and mid-30s average heavily criticised. Rahul showcased his class amidst such discourse by producing masterful hundreds in Headingley and Lord's, and finished the five-match series with 532 runs in 10 innings. His solidity at the top against the new ball allowed India's free-flowing middle-order batters to play at their preferred tempo. Rahul played his most instrumental role yet in India's drawn series result against the mighty Bazball brigade in their den. It would be a cause of vindication to Rahul's biggest supporters – the team management and selectors, who could always see the value he brought to the table. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
