Wisconsin Recruits Pushing Hard for 4-Star RB Latimer
Wisconsin Recruits Pushing Hard for 4-Star RB Latimer originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Wisconsin football team is in a great position to land composite 4-star running back Amari Latimer after a successful official visit at the beginning of the month, but that's not stopping the Badgers from putting on the full-court press.

Latimer is a highly sought-after running back prospect in the 2026 class. He holds offers from 47 Division I schools, including Wisconsin and some of the biggest programs in the country like Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and many more. Wisconsin got him on campus for an official visit and took advantage of it.
The Georgia native was scheduled to take an official visit to Michigan the following week, but canceled it and actually made a return trip to Madison, taking an unofficial visit.
While on his visit, he spent some time with his potential offensive line, including current 2026 commits Maddox Cochrane and Benjamin Novak. Both posted pictures on social media, putting the pressure on the 4-star back.
But it's not just the offensive line showing Latimer that he's wanted in Madison; arguably the biggest and most consistent recruiter in the 2026 class is 3-star receiver Tayshon Bardo. Bardo has been very vocal in his efforts to recruit fellow visitors to join him in the 2026 class for the Wisconsin football team.
The Badgers and their recruits are making it extremely clear they want Latimer to be a part of their 2026 class. Right now, the class has 11 committed players, putting them as the 38th-ranked class in the country according to the 247Sports Team Rankings.

If the Badgers are able to add Latimer, he would likely be considered the crown jewel of the class.
Latimer is expected to finish out the rest of his visits at Georgia Tech (June 13) and Georgia (June 20) before he announces his decision. Right now, things are looking positive for the Badgers. There are three Crystal Ball predictions for Latimer, all in favor of Wisconsin on 247Sports.
We'll see if the Badgers can pull off a huge recruiting victory.

Phillies' Rob Thomson Reacts to Aaron Nola Injury Setback, 'I Have No Idea'
Phillies' Rob Thomson Reacts to Aaron Nola Injury Setback, 'I Have No Idea' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Phillies were dealt a dose of horrible news on Tuesday, June 10th, when it was announced that starting pitcher Aaron Nola suffered a setback in his recovery. What was extra surprising about the setback as his injury had nothing to do with his initial injury, which landed him on the injured list. Advertisement Nola reportedly suffered a stress fracture in his ribs, which only came to light after an MRI. He is now unlikely to pitch until after the All-Star break and will miss significantly more time than initially anticipated. Matt Gelb of The Athletic shared Rob Thomson's reaction to the news, and he revealed what he knew about what happened to Nola amid this horrible and strange injury update. "I have no idea," Thomson said. "Because he doesn't really remember the moment that it happened. He just woke up one day, and it was sore." That comment from Thomson, that no one knows how the injury occurred, is concerning. While Nola should be able to recover, his fractured ribs aren't a minor injury. Not knowing its origin is another odd turn in the saga that's become Nola's 2025. Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola (27) throws a pitch during the second inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Citizens Bank Streicher-Imagn Images In the 2025 offseason, Nola signed a huge nine-year, $170 million contract extension to stay in Philadelphia. His first year in that new deal hasn't gone well. The 32-year-old is off to the worst start of his career, not including his injury, which will stop Nola from continuing his streak of 30-plus games started for the Phillies. Advertisement Through his first nine starts of the season, Nola has a 6.16 ERA and a 1-7 record. Nola, in his 11th season in the MLB, has been struggling on the mound. Across his 49.2 innings pitched, Nola has 52 strikeouts, 16 walks, and has allowed 11 home runs. After leading the National League in home runs allowed in 2024, Nola once again has struggled to contain the long ball in 2025. While Nola has struggled on the mound, his off-the-field setback is the real concern. Thomson's update on Nola, that the origin of the injury is unknown, is a strange twist in the ongoing Nola injury situation. While the origin of the injury is unknown, Nola is expected back after the All-Star break. In the meantime, Mick Abel and the rest of the Phillies staff have to step up in Nola's absence. Phillies and Mets Expected to Get Into Bidding War Over Same Relievers at Trade Deadline
Phillies and Mets Expected to Get Into Bidding War Over Same Relievers at Trade Deadline originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Phillies are looking for more bullpen help at the MLB trade deadline. As is the case every year, they won't be alone in their pursuit of high-leverage arms out of the bullpen. Advertisement Jim Bowden of The Athletic pointed out that the Phillies will target high-leverage relievers at the MLB trade deadline. However, he makes a point to mention they won't be alone, specifically competing with the New York Mets. "According to industry sources," Bowden writes, "both organizations are focused on high-leverage arms and will be chasing similar relievers." With the Phillies and Mets both targeting the same relievers, there could be a bidding war for the top options. From Ryan Helsley and Pete Fairbanks to Mason Miller and Felix Bautista, the Phillies and Mets will both be active in the same trade market. That's bad news for the Phillies, as the competition between the two could lead to an overpay in a trade. With how the Phillies have approached recent trade deadlines, there is a possibility that they give up too much to acquire one of their top options. Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Taijuan Walker hands the ball to manager Rob Thomson after being removed from a game against the Milwaukee Brewers in the fifth inning at Citizens Bank Ross-Imagn Images The Phillies' bullpen has been a mess. From Jordan Romano sitting in the double-digit ERAs through the first month of the year to Jose Alvarado getting suspended for 80 games for PED use, the Phillies' bullpen has been shaky. Advertisement While relievers like Tanner Banks and Orion Kerkering have shown interesting stuff for the Phillies, neither is trustworthy enough to be a high-leverage arm for the Phillies in the postseason. Matt Strahm and Romano have those roles, and in Alvarado's absence, another reliever is likely to join the fray. Bowden's report is a sign that the trade deadline could get tricky for the Phillies, as not only will they compete with other teams around baseball, but they'll have to compete with the Mets for a lot of their top targets. The bidding war that will occur between the Mets and Phillies is a tough situation to be in. While there are plenty of interesting options, a lot of their targets overlap with the Mets' targets.
