Meanwhile, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief Sunny Joseph said that the UDF will accept all the support offered to it in order to win the Nilambur by-poll as it is a political fight against the LDF's allegedly anti-people policies.
The issue had sparked heated exchanges on June 10 and escalated further on Wednesday as leaders from the CPI(M), Congress, and BJP traded barbs over past alliances and national security concerns.
The controversy centers on whether secular parties should accept the backing of organisations like Jamaat-e-Islami-backed Welfare Party and the People's Democratic Party (PDP), led by controversial cleric Abdul Nasar Madani.
While the Welfare Party has backed the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in the Nilambur by-poll, the CPI(M) headed-Left Democratic Front (LDF) enjoys the support of the PDP.
The BJP has alleged that both the Congress and the CPI(M) were compromising the nation's security by aligning with Jamaat-e-Islami and the PDP.

Kozhikode: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan launched a scathing attack on UDF for accepting the support of Welfare Party, the political arm of Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI) in Nilambur. Calling it a highly opportunistic move, he accused UDF of allying with anyone opposing LDF, regardless of the dangers it poses to society. At LDF campaigns in Chungathara and Moothedam on Friday, he said a desperate Congress and UDF, rattled by the growing public support for LDF, had abandoned their earlier positions. He said it's hard to digest that Congress leadership took the stand without the knowledge of IUML leadership and asked what was the reason for the party to ditch its earlier stand on the matter. Liquor scam: ED attaches Congress office in Chhattisgarh, assets of ex-minister
A Congress office in Chhattisgarh apart from assets of its former minister Kawasi Lakhma and his son have been attached as part of a money laundering investigation linked to an alleged Rs 2,100 crore worth liquor scam that took place in the state during the previous government, the ED said Friday. A provisional order for attaching these properties has been issued under the PMLA. The ED said in a statement that the attached assets include Congress Bhawan at Sukma district headquarters, which is in the name of Chhattisgarh PCC, a residential house at Raipur in the name of Kawasi Lakhma and a house at Sukma in the name of his son Harish Kawasi. The value of these three assets is `6.15 crore, it said. This is the first time that the federal probe agency has attached assets of a political party under the anti-money laundering law. A Congress spokesperson said in Raipur that the ED action was 'part of BJP's political conspiracy' and added that the party will furnish records of 'each and every' penny used for the construction of the office at Sukma.
