‘Tired of it': Julie Goodwin hits out over health concern
The much-loved former Masterchef star, 54, has recently dropped a significant amount of weight, sparking online speculation and concern about the cause.
Goodwin said she had had enough of reading people's comments about her body and reassured followers worried about her health.
'Thanks to all who have expressed concern about my health. I am well and I am within the healthy weight range. My doctor concurs,' Goodwin wrote in an Instagram post.
'For those who have asked me for advice or tips, I am not qualified to provide this. It's advice that should be sought from your trusted health professionals, not from me. I'm a TV cook.
'For those who want to comment on the shape and condition of my body please, do it on your own page because I'm tired of reading it. For that reason I'll be turning off comments on this post.
'For all of us can we please find something more interesting to talk about. Can we please model kindness to our kids and grandkids and can we please leave this obsession with people's looks back in the 1980s. Peace and love.'
Goodwin's statement comes after a selfie she posted on Thursday sparked a flood of comments.
'Girl u look so different..im a chubby girl and would like to drop weight one day.. i think u could probably put 10kg back on.. bit to skinny.. but do u girl..great job,' one person wrote.
Another wrote, 'I'm actually concerned or shocked to be honest but if you are healthy and well there is nothing to worry about. Am l correct?'
It is not the first time Goodwin's weight has prompted widespread comment.
In 2016, Goodwin addressed a 20kg weight loss, saying she had 'accidentally' lost the weight but said it was no cause for celebration.
'It's not that I've gone on some stupid, sad diet and dropped a whole heap of weight in a hurry. It's not anything like that,' she told Women's Weekly.
'I am running a business and running around like a mad thing, and sometimes I forget to eat, none of which is healthy.'

Brandon Blackstock's cause of death revealed
Brandon Blackstock's cause of death has been confirmed. The talent manager, who was married to pop star Kelly Clarkson from 2013 to 2022, sadly passed away at the age of 48 last week and it has been revealed that he died from melanoma - a form of skin cancer - by Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis. He added to People: "Brandon Blackstock passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana on August 7th under hospice care surrounded by his family." Brandon - who had children River, 11, and Remy, nine, from his marriage to Kelly - died last week after battling cancer for over three years. A statement from a family representative read: "It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. "Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time." Blackstock's passing came just a day after Kelly, 43, revealed that her ex-husband was ill and that she would be postponing the rest of her Las Vegas residency dates for August. The Since U Been Gone hitmaker wrote on Instagram: "Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas. "While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. Kelly is understood to be "staying strong" for her kids in the wake of Brandon's death, even though the couple's marriage ended in acrimony. Her kids are her entire world, and she's staying strong for their sake." The Because of You singer had always tried to remain "classy" for the sake of their kids after learning that Brandon - who served as her manager during their marriage - was seriously ill. The insider added: "When she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake. "Kelly has always tried to keep things classy. It became clear earlier this year that Brandon was not doing well. She's been devastated for the kids."
