Independence Day 2025: traffic restrictions in Gurgaon and Faridabad start tomorrow

In preparation for Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2025, the traffic police in Gurgaon and Faridabad have imposed strict restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhanced security.
Heavy vehicles will be barred from entering Delhi from Gurgaon during two periods: from 5 pm on August 12 to 1.30 pm on August 13, and from 5 pm on August 14 to 1.30 pm on August 15. The police have directed drivers to use the KMP Expressway for travel to other states or districts and to park vehicles only in designated areas to avoid disruptions.
Similarly, the police have announced a complete ban on heavy vehicle entry into Faridabad and towards Delhi from 10 pm on August 12 to 2 pm on August 13, for the full dress rehearsal, and from 10 pm on August 14 to 2 pm on August 15, for the Independence Day celebrations.
The restricted routes include Badarpur Border, Prahladpur, Karni Singh Shooting Range, Surajkund Gol Chakkar, Durga Builder, Mangar Chowki Naka, Dera Fatehpur, Sector 30 Cut, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Sikri, NH-19 (Palwal Road), and Elson JCB Chowk, apart from other major and minor roads.
in Faridabad, exemptions have been granted for vehicles carrying essential supplies such as milk, fruits, vegetables, food items, medicines, and medical supplies, as well as fire services, ambulances, police, emergency service vehicles, and those transporting petrol, diesel, or CNG. Vehicles with special government or administrative permissions will also be allowed, the police said.
Traffic police will be deployed to enforce the restrictions, and violations will attract strict action under the Motor Vehicles Act, the police said.

Top police officials, led by DCP Traffic Rajesh Mohan and ACP Traffic HQ/Highway Satyapal Yadav, met truck union heads and drivers in Gurgaon to outline the traffic arrangements.

Mr. Rajashekar Babu verified the platforms and the bus station premises and the venue for the launch of the scheme. Earlier, the Police Commissioner visited Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium, where the Independence Day celebrations will be organised in Vijayawada. He instructed the police officers to arrange parking places for VIPs, galleries for students and the general public, and provide bandobust at the IGMC for the I-Day celebrations. Police and the APSP Battalions conducted rehearsals for the Independence Day celebrations in the parade ground.

People are barred from congregating at the India Gate due to security reasons, officials said. The incident followed the Supreme Court giving numerous directives to Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) civic bodies on the issue of stray dogs. Punjab Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)-backed Babbar Khalsa International terror network with the arrest of five persons from Rajasthan. One of the arrested accused was injured in an exchange of fire with police while being taken for recovery, police said. Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said the terror module recently planned to attack a liquor store in SBS Nagar and was further tasked with carrying out such attacks on Independence Day. Police recovered a hand grenade and a .30 bore pistol along with two live cartridges and two empty shells of .30 bore from their possession. "In a major breakthrough against #Pakistan's ISI-backed terror network, Counter Intelligence, #Jalandhar, in a joint operation with @SBSNagarPolice busts a #BKI terror network operated by foreign-based handlers Mannu Agwan, Gopi Nawashehria and Zeeshan Akhtar on the directions of Pak-based BKI operative Harwinder Rinda," Yadav said in a post on X. "Five operatives apprehended from Tonk & Jaipur districts of #Rajasthan and successfully averted further planned attacks," he said. According to the DGP, the accused were receiving direct instructions from foreign-based Zeeshan Akhtar and Babbar Khalsa International mastermind Mannu Agwan, who is working in close coordination with Pakistan-based BKI operative Harwinder Rinda. One of the arrested accused was injured in an exchange of fire with the police while being taken for recovery. He opened fire on the police and sustained injuries in retaliatory action. The injured is undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital, SBS Nagar, said Yadav. In a major breakthrough against Pakistan's ISI-backed terror network, Counter Intelligence, Jalandhar, in a joint operation has bust a BKI terror network operated by foreign-based handlers. A case has been registered at Nawanshahr police station in SBS Nagar, he said.
