MBRHE launches 'Back to School' initiative in collaboration with Dubai Police
The initiative featured the participation of Dubai Police mascots, Officer Mansour and Officer Amna, whose engaging presence created a lively and interactive atmosphere for children. A special showcase of Dubai Police's luxury patrol vehicles was also presented, helping to raise security awareness among students and their families in an enjoyable yet safe setting.
Both MBRHE and Dubai Police reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening community engagement and outreach. As part of the initiative, comprehensive school supply kits were distributed to children, in line with the shared objectives of the Year of Community.
The Back to School initiative reflects MBRHE's core values of People First and Solidarity, and aligns with its vision to provide pioneering, sustainable housing and community services that enhance the well-being of Dubai's citizens.

Back to school in UAE: How teachers prepare one week in advance for new academic year
After nearly two months of summer break, teachers returned to UAE schools and participated in professional development sessions covering child protection, the integration of AI in classrooms, community-building, and a new planning model. This signifies the official resumption of duties following the summer break and the commencement of the 2025–2026 academic year, with students in all grades set to begin classes on Monday, August 25. Lisa Johnson, Principal, American Academy for Girls (AAG) said, 'It's a full and exciting week ahead. Our staff are engaging in professional training focused on child protection, the use of AI in the classroom, and a new planning model we're implementing this year.' Welcome back breakfast Johnson explained at AAG, the day began with a traditional Emirati breakfast, providing a relaxed environment for staff to reconnect after the summer break. The school also unveiled this year's guiding theme: 'Be the Weaver,' symbolising how every lesson, act of care, and decision contributes to students' overall growth. She added, 'We reflected on this together this morning to set the tone for the year ahead.' Across the city, Brighton College Dubai welcomed back over 200 teaching, technical, and administrative staff, alongside more than 25 new colleagues. Simon Crane, Head Master, said, 'Today marks the start of our back-to-school programme, with our teachers engaged in professional training, collaboration, and planning to ensure that we deliver the very best education. This week will be spent refining lessons, aligning on curriculum priorities, and preparing enriching experiences in and beyond the classroom.' Staff strength and new hires Similarly, Diyafah International School in Abu Dhabi also focused on preparing its staff for the start of the school year. David Flint, Principal, said, 'These trainings are being led both by our school leadership team and external experts, focusing on innovative teaching practices, student well-being, and the integration of new technologies into the classroom. Only a small percentage of new colleagues join us this year. It is always special to see familiar faces return, and equally exciting to welcome passionate new educators who enrich our community.' At Uptown International School, professional development aimed to foster consistency across classrooms while strengthening team collaboration. Paul Rowe, Head of Secondary, noted, 'For our new and returning staff, it's about ensuring everyone feels connected and confident, ready to deliver excellence for all our students. This professional development not only equips teachers with strategies for success, but also reinforces our identity as a community that learns, grows, and achieves together.' Indian curriculum schools In Indian curriculum schools, teachers return a few days ahead of students to ensure a smooth start. Deepika Thapar Singh, Principal of Credence High School, said, 'All our staff are returning from their summer break and will rejoin a few days before school reopens, ensuring they are ready to warmly welcome students after their much-needed holiday. The school currently has about 450 personnel, including faculty, administrative, and outsourced staff. Since our academic year, based on the Indian curriculum, began in April 2025, the recruitment process for new hires was completed well in advance.'

UAE marks World Humanitarian Day, pledges support for vulnerable
The UAE will commemorate World Humanitarian Day tomorrow, reiterating its pivotal role in providing timely assistance to those affected by crises worldwide. By mid-2024, the country's foreign aid had supported over one billion people, valued at more than AED368 billion. This year's occasion comes as the UAE leads international efforts to aid victims of wars and conflicts, particularly the brotherly Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. According to United Nations reports, Emirati aid accounted for 44 percent of the total international assistance delivered to the Gaza Strip. To date, the UAE has carried out 73 airdrop operations under its "Birds of Goodness" initiative, part of "Operation Chivalrous Knight 3". The total aid airdropped has exceeded 3,988 tonnes, including food and essential supplies. The UAE has also affirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting the brotherly Sudanese people, pledging US$200 million during the High-Level Humanitarian Conference for the People of Sudan held in Addis Ababa on 14th February 2025. This brought the total Emirati humanitarian aid provided to Sudan over the past decade to $3.5 billion. In 2025, the UAE has further enhanced its initiatives to ease the suffering of the Ukrainian people. The UAE Aid Agency signed a cooperation agreement with the Olena Zelenska Foundation to provide additional centres for foster families and orphanages with a contribution of $4.5 million. Until last February, UAE humanitarian aid to Ukraine had benefited more than 1.2 million people, including one million women and children. Mediation efforts undertaken by the UAE between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine have also resulted in 16 prisoner exchange operations, with a total of 4,349 prisoners exchanged. In terms of natural disaster relief, the UAE provided aid to the Republic of Chad in January 2025, which included 30,000 food baskets and more than 20,000 blankets, to help mitigate the impact of floods in several areas of the country. The UAE also sent 700 tonnes of urgent food supplies to flood-affected areas in Somalia. At the end of March, the UAE dispatched urgent humanitarian aid to the Republic of Myanmar following an earthquake, delivering more than 200 tonnes of food, shelter supplies and medical aid. Later, it sent over 167 metric tonnes of essential relief materials, including plastic tarps and equipment, to support around 80,000 people affected by the disaster. On 11th August, specialised teams from the UAE arrived in the Albanian capital, Tirana, to take part in urgent response operations to extinguish fires raging across several regions. The UAE contributed with aircraft, equipment and firefighting materials. This year has also seen the launch of several humanitarian initiatives with global impact, such as the Fathers' Endowment campaign, part of whose proceeds will go towards providing healthcare and treatment for the underprivileged and supporting health systems in less fortunate communities by developing hospitals and securing medicines. Furthermore, the UAE Aid Agency and the Government of Chad signed an agreement to build the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Hospital and a dialysis centre in the capital, N'Djamena, aimed at providing advanced health services and therapeutic care for dialysis patients.
