Kannada filmmaker K Ramnarayan on removing Sonu Nigam's songs from Kuladalli Keelyavudo after Bengaluru concert row: ‘He must pay a price for that'

Veteran
Kannada
filmmaker
K Ramnarayan
has taken a firm stand against playback singer
Sonu Nigam
following the controversy surrounding the latter's comments at a Bengaluru concert. On Thursday, May 8,
Ramnarayan
announced that he has removed two songs sung by Sonu
Nigam
from his upcoming film
Kuladalli Keelyavudo
, stating that the singer's apology was not sufficient.

Speaking to PTI, Ramnarayan said, "Just saying sorry will not cut it. Connecting
Kannada pride
to the national tragedy that happened in Pahalgam is a very grave mistake. He must pay a price for that."
Ramnarayan revealed that the film, set to release in theatres on May 23, had originally featured three songs in its promotional rollout, two of which were sung by Sonu Nigam. One of those tracks was particularly significant: the title song, which is a tribute to the iconic 1965 Kannada film Satya Harishchandra, starring Dr. Rajkumar.
"In fact, he sang the title track, which is a tribute to possibly the most famous Kannada song, featured in legendary actor Rajkumar's 1965 film, Satya Harishchandra. The original Kuladalli Keelyavudo is so sacred for the
Kannada film industry
– our orchestra, while recording songs, ends by playing this song. How can this song be sung by someone like Nigam, who thinks so lowly of us?" Ramnarayan questioned.

The filmmaker said both tracks sung by Nigam, including
Manasu Haadtade
, are now being replaced with versions recorded by track singers. In music production, track singers typically provide demo vocals before final recordings.
While the film's team has already removed Sonu Nigam's versions from their official YouTube channels, Manasu Haadtade remains live on the singer's personal YouTube page.
The controversy began at a Bengaluru concert, where Sonu Nigam allegedly shut down a student's repeated request to sing in Kannada. The singer linked the request to the 2023 Pahalgam terror attack, a comment that was widely criticized. He reportedly said, "I had started singing Kannada songs even before he was born. This is why the recent attack happened... for such a kind of attitude. At least see who is in front of you before making such demands."
Though Sonu Nigam later issued an apology on Instagram, stating that his love for Karnataka is greater than his ego, Ramnarayan believes that isn't enough.

The Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules says state govts have the right to select 15 days in a year when a relaxation to use loudspeakers till midnight may be given by collectors for their respective districts. After the meeting, Shelar said, "The district collector will meet representatives of important Ganesh mandals to decide the particular days when the extension will be applicable." That apart, Shelar also said the state will provide funds to celebrate the festival on a grand scale. "Mandals will be encouraged to depict the success of Operation Sindoor, to promote Swadeshi and showcase the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj through their decorations," he added. The minister also said special attention would be given to Ganeshotsav in Pune — the city where Lokmanya Tilak started the festival on a community level. "The festival is celebrated in a traditional manner in Pune and is popular worldwide. We have decided to livestream activities of some important Ganesh temples and mandals so that devotees from across the world can feel connected," Shelar added. What did Candace Parker say to LeBron James' PR Team? WNBA pro expresses shock over viral Caitlin Clark NBA 2K Dunk

Candace Parker opened up about the new NBA 2K clip (Image via Instagram / @candaceparker) Even though NBA 2K26 is still more than two weeks away from release, one gameplay clip has already taken center stage. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is seen flexing and celebrating by dunking over Los Angeles Lakers icon LeBron James in a promotional clip for the game that was made public on August 14. Meanwhile, a weekly podcast called Post Moves is produced by WNBA icons Candace Parker and Aliyah Boston. On their August 20 show, the duo talked about this widely shared video. Additionally, they also expressed amusement over the entire situation. Candace Parker and teammate Aliyah Boston were amused by the new viral NBA 2K clip There is a lot of anticipation for the NBA 2K26 game. It skyrocketed when they published a video of WNBA icon Caitlin Clark dunking over NBA legend LeBron James in a recent game ad. Furthermore, Candace Parker and Aliyah Boston discussed the trailer on Wednesday's episode of Post Moves. While both laughed during the sequence, Candace Parker jokingly stated that 'LeBron's PR team has got to get rid of that' clip, adding, 'Not the King, c'mon man, you can't do that to Bron.' They replayed the video game clip when Aliyah Boston stated that, if she were playing as the Indiana Fever in NBA 2K, she would rather play against the L.A. Lakers because of the clip of Caitlin Clark dunking on LeBron James. Candace Parker then added, "This is wild right here!" She laughed and went on: "This is awful.. But LeBron's PR team has got to get rid of that. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Europe Travel Hack That Saves You Hundreds on Trips! Candace Parker has earlier supported Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese against media Candace Parker has previously talked about Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese's so-called rivalry and supported them. She went on to say that because of their dissimilar responsibilities and places, the comparison is unfair. Instead of comparing them to one another, she thought they ought to be judged on their contributions and strong points. The comments came after both athletes were frequently included in rivalry plots and performance comparisons. Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are two of the league's most promising young players, but Candace feels that the never-ending argument has become pointless. The two-time MVP talked about it on Jemele Hill's show. Caitlin Clark Vs Angel Reese- WNBA 2025 (Image via Getty Images) She said: 'I just think that it's like comparing apples and oranges.. Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, it's like, what are we doing? They like doing the Magic and Bird comparison.. At least with the Magic and Bird comparison, they played similar positions. Bird wasn't a point guard, but he played the guard position—they at least kind of matched up.' Meanwhile, the viral clip of the NBA 2K is still making rounds on the internet, garnering fans' attention. Also read: Is Caitlin Clark's season in jeopardy?
