Megan Thee Stallion shooting: Rep. Luna says she has new evidence
(NewsNation) — Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., says she has seen new evidence proving Tory Lanez is innocent of shooting performer Megan Thee Stallion and is seeking a pardon for the rapper from California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
'Based on the evidence that I've seen, Tory is innocent,' Luna said Tuesday on NewsNation's 'CUOMO.' 'We are calling on Gavin Newsom to issue that pardon immediately.'
The Florida congresswoman, who serves on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, said her office was presented with evidence that 'actually disproved the conviction' of Lanez, who was sentenced to 10 years behind bars in 2022.
Luna specifically cited DNA evidence that she says undermines the case.
'They actually found four people's DNA on that firearm, none of which was Tory's. Not to mention there was zero fingerprints on the actual magazine,' she said.

She also referenced what she called 'Ring footage that's been obtained that actually disproves the whole 'dance Megan'' scenario described in court testimony, where Lanez allegedly told Megan to dance before shooting at her feet.
Luna said she has reached out to Newsom's office requesting an 'emergency meeting' and is working with Democratic colleagues from California on the issue.
The congresswoman said she spoke with Lanez, who was recently stabbed 14 times while incarcerated. According to Luna, Lanez plans to work on prison reform once released.
Lanez was convicted after testimony from Megan Thee Stallion, her friend Kelsey Harris, and DNA evidence that prosecutors said linked him to the weapon. The shooting occurred in July 2020 after a party at Kylie Jenner's Hollywood Hills home.
Luna said her involvement in the case began after being approached by model and television personality Amber Rose.

The party is also looking for its next leader. Democrats have also expressed frustration about efforts to bring men into their coalition who, in November, backed Trump over former Vice President Harris. The GOP did a better of job of speaking to men during the race, particularly younger men, through mediums such as podcasts. 'They kicked our a‑‑es all over the place with these guys,' one top Democratic strategist told The Hill. 'They met male voters exactly where they were and we, on the other hand, had nothing comparable.' At least one House Democrat is open to wooing back Musk, who previously was a Democratic Party donor, into the party's tent. 'If Biden had a big supporter criticize him, Trump would have hugged him the next day. When we refused to meet with @RobertKennedyJr, Trump embraced him & won. Investigators looking at who sent Hegseth's Signal texts, sources say
Pentagon investigators are looking into whether Department of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth personally wrote the text messages detailing the military's plans to strike Houthi targets in Yemen or whether other staffers typed out those details, according to two people familiar with the ongoing probe. The Defense Department's Office of Inspector General has spent several weeks interviewing Hegseth's current and former staff members to figure out how United States strike details taken from a classified system wound up in a commercial messaging app known as Signal. "Because this is one of the DOD IG's ongoing projects, in accordance with our policy we do not provide the scope or details to protect the integrity of the process and avoid compromising the evaluation," DOD IG spokesperson Mollie Halperin told ABC News. The details were relayed in two chat groups that included Hegseth - one with Vice President JD Vance and other high-ranking officials, and a second one that included Hegseth's wife, who is not employed by the government. Hegseth is scheduled to testify for the first time as defense secretary on Tuesday, where Democratic lawmakers are expected to question his handling of classified and sensitive information. The sharing of the details reportedly occurred around the same time in mid-March when key members of President Donald Trump's National Security Council, including Hegseth, inadvertently shared details about the March 15 missile strike in Yemen with the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. Much of the same content was shared in the second encrypted chat with family members and others -- a chat group that Hegseth had created on his personal phone during his confirmation process that included his wife, Jennifer Hegseth, the two officials told ABC News.
