When is Rushwin Dortley returning for Kaizer Chiefs?
Rushwin Dortley is on the road to recovery from knee surgery. When will we see the talented defender in a Kaizer Chiefs jersey again?
In March 2025, Rushwin Dortley underwent knee surgery to address an issue that was far more serious than initially thought. There are no specifics on a timeframe for his recovery, but it's unlikely we'll see him play any competitive football before September. Still, the player will feel that the worst is over. It's also not uncommon for players to become more resilient and mentally tough after serious setbacks so early in their careers.
Latest Kaizer Chiefs rumours
The first half of the campaign was one to forget for Chiefs. Rushwin Dortley, however, was one of the true bright sparks of a season threatening to peter out into nothing. The 23-year-old central defender from Cape Town immediately looked assured and at home in big matches for Chiefs, and indeed South Africa. The left-footed ball-player quickly became a key pillar in the defence, making 21 appearances across all competitions before being struck down. The technical team will need to be cautious when they reintroduce him to the fold after such a lengthy layoff, but it's undoubtedly a huge plus to see him on the comeback trail. Many observers feel he was the club's best performer until the untimely injury.

Despite going behind early in the contest, Nabi's Kaizer Chiefs secured what might prove to be a massive point away to Sekhukhune in a 1-1 draw thanks to Glody Lilepo's equaliser deep into first-half stoppage time. It means the Glamour Boys can guarantee an MTN8 place with a win on the final day at home against Polokwane City. However, Polokwane sit two points above Chiefs, although their MTN8 place is already sealed. Chiefs vs Polokwane kicks off at 15:00 on Saturday, 24 May.

This a feat that they earned after beating arch rivals Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final. That will see their schedule become increasingly difficult, factoring more games and travel throughout the continent. Then having to balance that with potentially, Betway Premiership, Carling Knockout and Nedbank Cup games. With that in mind, Chiefs management will understand they will need strength and depth as well as experience. This then looks to have led them to the surprise move to sign Paseka Mako to boost their left-back ranks. The 31-year-old would be arriving from arch nemesis Pirates with a wealth of know-how. This after playing continental football and winning six trophies while with the Buccaneers. He would also come in as a potential starter, solving the left-back issue at Amakhosi. Now according to SABC Sport , Chiefs are in advanced talks to sign Mako after recently leaving Pirates. 'SABC Sport can exclusively reveal that former Orlando Pirates defender Paseka Mako could be heading to Naturena as talks with Kaizer Chiefs have progressed to an advanced stage. According to information gathered by the public broadcaster, the 31-year-old has entered into talks with their Soweto rivals over a potential move to The Glamour Boys ahead of the upcoming season. Latest:Saleng stays at Orlando Pirates or moving to Kaizer Chiefs?
Orlando Pirates have already made some big player decisions this close window, with Monnapule Saleng potentially next on the list. Saleng has been isolated from the Pirates first team for the whole of 2025, with rumours he'll join Kaizer Chiefs. He last played for Pirates in December 2024, in a CAF Champions League game against Al Ahly. Even in that game, Saleng's involvement from he start was a bit of a surprise, as he had been MIA for a while prior. It then quickly became apparent that there was something wrong between club and player. It was uncovered that Saleng was not happy with his contract situation at Pirates. The speedy winger then resurfaced with Bafana Bafana and was part of their first leg CHAN win over Egypt. He then made headlines for the wrong reasons, again, when he failed to join their camp ahead of the way leg. Even though he was pictured back at training with Pirates towards the end of the season, Saleng's still in limbo. Despite rumours that he has joined arch rivals Chiefs on a pre-contract, there's still no confirmation on that. And now according to Soccer-Laduma , there's still a glimmer of hope that he remains a Buccaneers instead! 'The club is busy with preparations for next season, and you can expect more players to be allowed to move on to make space for new signings. He (Saleng) is one of the players the club is currently busy with regarding his future. But from what I understand, there is a slight chance for him to stay – if the parties manage to sort out their differences. If not, then anything could happen. At the end of the day, he needs to get back on the field and play. The club loves the boy, and he loves the club – it's just that there were issues that needed to be sorted out, which affected his progress this season,' said the source. Pirates fans would you be happy with Saleng staying? Chiefs fans, are you still hopefully he joins? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab.
