WATCH: 'Ball jane toh do yaar...': Yashasvi Jaiswal loses cool after batting partner's reckless call nearly costs India
India's youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal is back to scoring runs against his favourite opposition, England. After being dismissed for 13 and 0 at Lord's, the first time in 7 Test against England that he wasn't able to cross fifty, the 23-year-old bounced back in style and continued his form against the Ben Stokes led team.
Coming in to bat first on the opening day of the Old Trafford Test, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal built a partnership of 94 runs for the first wicket, but it was broken by Chris Woakes shortly after lunch. KL Rahul edged to second slip, missing his half-century by four runs, while Jaiswal remained determined on the crease to complete his fifity.
Sai Sudharsan was included in the playing XI in place of Karun Nair.
After Rahul's wicket, India's rising star Sai Sudarshan stepped onto the crease and joined Jaiswal. Sudarshan had made is Test debut in the series opener at Leeds, but he was dropped from the squad after a disappointing performance in Test.
Given the circumstances, his nervousness was pretty much expected as the youngster would feel the pressure after being dropped following a poor first Test. Sudharsan looked defensive, avoiding anything outside off-stump and limiting his shot-making. Sanjay Manjrekar also highlighted that he missed out on capitalising on a few loose deliveries, including overpitched half-volleys.
So when a run scoring opportunity came, Sudharsan jumped at it, stuck on 3 off 18 balls, he drove a delivery from Brydon Carse in the 37th over, just managing to get it past mid-on. On the next ball, a full toss was nudged wide of the fielder, but even before it had clearly beaten him, a visibly eager Sudharsan bolted for a run.
Yashasvi Jaiswal backfired at Sai Sudarshan
The decision nearly backfired, as Jaiswal was still inside his crease at the non-striker's end. Had the fielder reacted quickly and sent in an accurate throw, it could have spelled trouble for India or worse, resulted in the run-out of a well-set Jaiswal.
Jaiswal lost his cool and said to Sai before the next ball, 'Sai, ball jaane toh de yaar'. But, the three runs that Sudharsan and Jaiswal managed to take in between the wickets gave the game Sai a much-needed boost in confidence. He began to look more calm at the crease, and in the very next over, Sudharsan showcased his timing with a classy flick off Jofra Archer for four.

India lost Jaiswal shortly after, as he edged Liam Dawson to Harry Brook at first slip, handing the left-arm spinner his first Test wicket in eight years. Before the dismissal, Jaiswal and Sudharsan had a partnership of 26 runs for the second wicket.
Jaiswal's wicket brought Shubman Gill to the crease, but the India captain was greeted with a wave of boos from the crowd. However, once Gill and Sudharsan came together, the running between the wickets noticeably improved. Having recently opened together for Gujarat Titans in the IPL, their familiarity was clearly visible as they communicated and coordinated their runs with ease.

'From Bazball To Beg-Ball': Fans Go Wild As India Rejects Ben Stokes' Handshake
However, it wasn't before Stokes tried to get under Jadeja's skin, asking if he actually wanted to 'get a century against Harry Brook' — with the part-timer brought into the attack after the shake was rejected. Brook hurled dollies at the batters, which were welcomed and then some abuses were also heard on the stump-mic, directed at Sundar. Fans reacted with a mix of anger and pride at their own team for not accepting the draw. 'All this talk of spirit of the game goes out of the English dictionary as soon as the other side has an upper hand. Entitled, arrogant, and hypocrite – three words that describe this English side," one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Another said, 'Those last 15 minutes is the reason these bazballers are such an unlikable bunch. none of them, barring may be Root, have a pedigree to question Jadeja's Test credentials but look at the arrogance on display. the PR from Sky cannot hide the filthy group they are" (sic) Check some other reactions here: This was only the second draw in Stokes' captaincy, and the first in a full game not affected by rain. What did Shubman Gill say about the drama? Cameras pointed to Indian captain Shubman Gill during the tense moments on the field but he only presented a poker face, which he also carried to the post-match presentation. He was in support of Jadeja and Sundar, saying, like their fans, that they deserved the centuries.

ENG vs IND: Jadeja, Sundar heroics help India force gritty draw in 4th Test
Team India have managed to fight out a draw in the 4th Test against England at the Old Trafford cricket ground in Manchester as they take the series to the 5th and final Test in Kensington Oval now. The sereis remains 2-1 in the favour of England but with India having a chance to draw the series in the final attempt. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar's gritty yet eventful 203-run partnership did the trick in the end for the visitors as England couldn't pick 8 wickets on the final day of the encounter to seal the series. Brilliant effort put in again by both the sides who fought till the last hour and saw players picking up niggles along the way because of the demands of the Test match that tested the players both physically and mentally in the course of the 5 days. England opting to bowl first The match started with English skipper Ben Stokes winning the fourth toss in a row in the series and opting to bowl first. However, to their surprise, India started the match in promising manner, adding 94 runs for the first wicket before KL Rahul (46) lost his wicket to Chris Woakes. Yashasvi Jaiswal (58), Sai Sudharsan (61) and Rishabh Pant (54) all hit brilliant half-centuries, followed by gusty cameos from Shardul Thakur (41) and Washington Sundar (27), which helped India post 358 runs on the board before being bundled out. Ben Stokes was England's best bowler with a spell of 5 for 72 to his name. England's dominance with the bat In reply, England showcased pure dominance as their top three, Zak Crawley (84), Ben Duckett (94) and Ollie Pope (71), despite missing out on Test tons, put England in a commanding position before Joe Root (150) and Ben Stokes (141) ripped apart the Indian bowling line-up, as England finished their innings at 669 before losing all 10 wickets. The hosts took a huge lead of 311 in the first innings, putting India in danger of an innings defeat. Gill-Rahul paving the way for a draw India's start in the second innings was exactly the opposite of the first, as they lost Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan, both on a duck, in the first over itself. But just when the game looked all but done for India, KL Rahul, along with skipper Shubman Gill, led one of the best fightbacks in Test cricket, adding 188 runs for the third wicket before Rahul was dismissed by Ben Stokes on 90. Skipper Gill went on to score his fourth Test hundred of the series but was then dismissed by Jofra Archer on 103, as India found themselves in a tough spot after a brilliant fightback. However, the two Indian all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar then took charge and stitched a century stand for the fifth wicket, to not only take India past the 311-run mark to avoid an innings defeat but also push the match further towards a draw. Jadeja-Sundar's 203-run stand does the job for the visitors The final session then saw both batters take the run scoring up a notch and get the score past 350 on the day as well. With almost an hour of play left in Manchester, it is at that point that both captains shook hands and decided to call this riveting tie a draw. The control percentage between the two batters was up to 92% in the final session despite of experiencing more turn in the middle. This just shows the level of grit and determination between the two batters to take their team through to the finish line. Both batters were given the chance to complete their hundreds with Sundar scoring his maiden Test ton as well as both Stokes and Jadeja were then seeing shaking hands to call it a day in what was a riveting test match in Manchester. Shubman Gill and co. go to Kensington Oval with the thought of levelling the 5-match series in the final Test now. You want to hit a ton off Brook: When Ben Stokes failed spirit of the game
The England cricket team, known for championing the "spirit of the game," drew criticism on the final day of the Manchester Test for conduct deemed unsporting. Captain Ben Stokes and his teammates appeared visibly frustrated, targeting India's Ravindra Jadeja with verbal jibes as the match approached its final hour. Verbal Exchange Before Final Hour The incident unfolded just moments before umpire Rod Tucker signalled the beginning of the last hour of play. Stokes, visibly dejected after his plan to bundled out India failed, exchanged words with Jadeja, wanting to end the Test in a draw by a handshake. Here's what has happened Stokes approached both Indian batters, seemingly offering a handshake to settle for a draw, but it appeared the gesture was declined. Jadeja and Washington seemed keen to reach their centuries, leaving the England captain visibly puzzled. Shaking his head after being told to continue, Stokes looked frustrated. During the heated moment after the drinks break, Stokes said," you want to hit a hundred off Brook." This was regarded against the spirit of the game by former England player Jonnathan Trot, who didn't mince his words on air. Trott's comments came when Brook was bowling half-volleys against Jadeja, who smashed them for boundaries and completed his century. During the whole episode, Stokes might have missed that, the two batters - Sundar and Jadeja - constructed their innings brilliantly when India needing to draw the test to stay alive in the five-match series. Also, beyond the personal milestones, there's also the issue of wearing down England's bowlers ahead of the next Test, which is just three days away. India trailing the series, 1-2 after 4th Test match. The fifth and final Test will begin on July 31 at the Oval in London.
