Hyundai Owners Gain Access to U.S. Tesla Superchargers With Complimentary NACS Adapters

Hyundai EV owners gain access to more than 20,000 Tesla Superchargers
Owners of eligible Hyundai EVs equipped with CCS charge ports can begin claiming their complimentary NACS charging adapters
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., March 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Starting today, U.S. owners of the current Hyundai KONA Electric, IONIQ Electric hatchback, IONIQ 5, and IONIQ 6 models equipped with a Combined Charging System (CCS) port gain access to 20,000 Tesla Superchargers in the United States using a North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter. Current owners of Hyundai EVs who bought their vehicles on or before January 31, 2025, will begin receiving emails with instructions on how to redeem their adapters starting the week of April 7.
Hyundai designed this DC fast-charging adapter specifically to work with its battery electric vehicles, including its e-GMP high voltage platform. This milestone nearly doubles the availability of DC fast-charging stations for Hyundai models, greatly enhancing owners' convenience and peace of mind.
Complimentary CCS-to-NACS adapters are available to eligible owners of the following products:
'Starting today, more Hyundai EV customers will have access to 20,000 Tesla Superchargers across North America, doubling their fast-charging options,' said Olabisi Boyle, senior vice president, product planning and mobility strategy, Hyundai Motor North America. 'This move improves the public charging experience by giving our customers even more choice. It's a vital part of our commitment to ease America's transition to electric vehicle ownership.'
Hyundai is accelerating electric vehicle adoption by:
To show appreciation for its EV customers, Hyundai is offering one DC fast-charging adapter per eligible vehicle at no cost to existing customers who purchased or leased their vehicle on or before January 31, 2025. To claim a complimentary adapter, eligible customers must have an active MyHyundai owner's account and must have opted to receive email communications. This Hyundai designed and authorized CCS-to-NACS adapter is essential for reliable charging at V3 Tesla Superchargers and other NACS DC fast charging stations. Eligible customers must complete the process within 60 days of receiving the email invitation to redeem their complimentary adapter.
How eligible owners can receive a fast-charging adapter:
Own an eligible Hyundai EV that was purchased/leased on or before January 31, 2025.
Have an active MyHyundai.com owner's account and have opted into receiving emails.
Eligible, contactable customers will receive an email from Hyundai beginning the week of April 7 to verify that their customer information account (shipping address, vehicle model, vehicle model year) is correct.
Customers must review and confirm the adapter offer and adapter usage terms and conditions.
If the customer agrees to the terms and conditions and confirms the shipping address is correct, then the customer can click 'Yes, the above information is correct' and an adapter will be shipped to that address.
If the shipping address is not correct, then the customer can click 'No, the above information is incorrect' and will be directed to MyHyundai.com to update the customer's shipping address. Updated addresses may take up to a week for a customer to receive a new email to redeem.
Eligible customers will then receive a confirmation email and a subsequent email containing a tracking number once the adapter has shipped.
Like the refreshed 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5, which already has access to the Tesla Supercharger network, all new and significantly updated Hyundai EV models will feature built-in NACS ports. The NACS ports eliminate the need for an adapter to access Tesla Superchargers and other DC fast charging stations. These NACS-native models do not need, and do not qualify for a complimentary adapter.
This complimentary-adapter offer applies to qualified Hyundai Motor America EV customers only. Hyundai Motor Canada will provide details regarding Supercharger access and adapter procurement for EV owners in its market later this year.

Kia Blames Regulations For The Death of Gas Performance Cars

We recently mourned the loss of fun gas-powered cars in Europe due to tightening emissions regulations. But the situation is actually much worse. The gradual demise of performance vehicles with combustion engines is happening worldwide. Kia is the latest automaker to announce that its future sports cars will be purely electric to meet stricter legislation. Kia Australia's product chief, Roland Rivero, told Carsales that automakers have no choice but to 'satisfy the global situation and CO 2 regulations are tightening all around the world.' If there is a silver lining in all of this, it's that the GT badge will live on for more electric models. The new EV4 is a prime candidate to receive the electric GT treatment. Rivero remains optimistic about catering to enthusiasts, even in an increasingly electrified era. He believes 'there's no reason why an electrified product can't give you a similar experience [to internal combustion performance cars], albeit with some computer tech and whatnot.' Still, another car like the Stinger GT with its V-6 engine isn't going to happen. The GT badge is already appearing on electric models, such as the supersized EV9 GT . Meanwhile, the smaller EV6 GT recently received an update that includes simulated gear shifts and engine sounds , "features" that tie into Rivero's 'computer tech' comment. Hyundai's N division may have axed the i20 N and i30 N hot hatches, the Kona N crossover, and the quirky Veloster N, but it's not ready to abandon internal combustion just yet. The company still sells the Elantra N and has pledged to launch a next-generation model with a bigger engine . Earlier this year, N division co-founder Joonwoo Park hinted in an Auto Express interview that hybrid powertrains could help keep fun ICE cars alive under the N badge. Addressing the elephant in the room, any hybrid or EV with performance chops will come with a weight penalty. This is especially true for fully electric performance cars, but it's a compromise carmakers seem willing to accept. Hyundai and Kia appear to be leaning into SUVs for now, which only exacerbates the situation. But that's the reality of 2025. Consumers want SUVs, and governments want automakers to reduce the emissions of their fleets. To satisfy both demands and stay in business, car companies are producing more electric SUVs. A few of these receive upgrades to earn their GT and N badges, which were exclusive to combustion-engine cars not long ago. Hyundai's luxury brand Genesis does have a new twin-turbo V-8 , but it's intended solely for race cars. Marelli Initiates Voluntary U.S. Chapter 11 Proceedings to Strengthen Financial Position and Facilitate a Value-Maximizing Restructuring

Reaches Restructuring Support Agreement ("RSA") with Approximately 80% of Lenders Secures Commitment of $1.1 Billion in Debtor-in-Possession ("DIP") Financing from Lenders 100% of Secured Debt to be Eliminated Access to New Liquidity Designed to Support Normal Course Business Operations; Marelli will Continue Delivering Reliable, High-Performance Products for Customers TOKYO, June 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Marelli Holdings Co. Ltd. ("Marelli" or the "Company"), a global technology partner to the automotive industry, today announced that it has commenced voluntary chapter 11 cases in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware in order to comprehensively restructure its long‑term debt obligations. Approximately 80% of the Company's lenders have signed an agreement to support the restructuring (the "Restructuring Support Agreement"), which will deleverage Marelli's balance sheet and strengthen its liquidity position. Throughout this process and moving forward, Marelli does not expect any operational impact from the chapter 11 process, and the Company will continue to work closely with its customers, suppliers, and partners to innovate and invest in its portfolio of advanced technologies that will differentiate the vehicles of the future and transform mobility. A complete list of the Marelli affiliates involved in the chapter 11 cases can be found at "At Marelli, we have been proactive in making necessary adjustments to stabilize our financial position so that we can continue to deliver long-term benefits for our valued customers, partners and employees," said David Slump, President and CEO, Marelli. "While we are pleased with our recent progress and profitability, industry-wide market pressures have created a gap in working capital that must be addressed. After careful review of the Company's strategic alternatives, we have determined that entering the chapter 11 process is the best path to strengthen Marelli's balance sheet by converting debt to equity, while ensuring we continue operating as usual. Taking this action now provides access to new liquidity to fund our long-term growth and innovation pipeline, and ensures our customers and partners all over the world can continue to rely on Marelli for on-time delivery of advanced technologies that shape the vehicles of the future." Mr. Slump continued, "Marelli's focus on innovation, digitalization and technology has never been stronger. As we move through this process, we will continue to serve our customers and work with our suppliers and partners as they have come to expect. We are also grateful for the hard work and dedication of our employees who remain focused on delivering the best service possible." To support the Company during this process, Marelli has received a significant commitment for $1.1 billion in debtor-in-possession financing ("DIP Financing") from its lenders. This additional capital underscores lenders' continued support and confidence in the Company's underlying business and its long-term potential. Upon Court approval, the DIP Financing, coupled with cash generated from the Company's ongoing operations, is expected to provide sufficient liquidity to support the Company through the chapter 11 process. In addition to the DIP Financing, the Restructuring Support Agreement provides for a comprehensive deleveraging transaction through which the DIP Lenders will take ownership of the business upon emergence from chapter 11, subject to a 45-day overbid process. Marelli filed a number of customary first day motions seeking Court approval to continue its operations throughout the chapter 11 process, including, among other things, payment of employee wages and benefits without interruption and continuation of programs that are integral to customer relationships. The Company anticipates receiving Court approval for these requests and intends to continue honoring its obligations to key stakeholders post‑filing, including by satisfying payment obligations to suppliers for goods and services provided in accordance with customary terms after the filing. The Company will be working with its suppliers regarding obligations which arose before the chapter 11 filing to reach agreements on payment terms. Saab achieves AI milestone with Gripen E

STOCKHOLM, June 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Saab, in collaboration with Helsing, today announced the successful completion of the first three flights integrating Helsing's Artificial Intelligence (AI) agent `Centaur' into a Gripen E fighter jet. As part of Saab's `Project Beyond', the flights, where the first flight, was conducted on May 28, mark a significant advance in bringing AI capabilities to military aircraft. It is also yet another proof point of Gripen E's unparalleled ability to rapidly update software without disregarding safety requirements. During the flights, the Gripen E gave control to Centaur which successfully autonomously executed complex manoeuvres in a Beyond Visual Range (BVR) combat environment and cued the pilot to fire. "This is an important achievement for Saab, demonstrating our qualitative edge in sophisticated technologies by making AI deliver in the air. The swift integration and successful flight testing of Helsing's AI in a Gripen E exemplifies the accelerated capability gain you can get from our fighter. We are excited to continue developing and refining how this and other AI agents can be used, while once again showing how our fighters will outperform faster than the opponent can evolve," said Peter Nilsson, head of Advanced Programmes, from Saab's Aeronautics Business Area. Thanks to the unique design of Gripen E, the fighter can fly with the AI software onboard and fully integrated without being restricted to solely military test ranges or have to rely on an experimental X-plane to do flight trials with the software. "Within Project Beyond and other programmes, we utilise the power of software to rapidly explore and blur the lines between 'now' and the future; in software there are no generations, only speed," says Peter Nilsson. The third flight, conducted June 3, focused specifically on Centaur's performance, pitting it against a real Gripen D aircraft in a series of dynamic BVR scenarios with real-time data integration utilising sensor data to track the target aircraft. The team tested Centaur's adaptability by varying starting distances, speeds, aspects, and even disabling C2 data to assess its robustness. Saab's and Helsing's joint Project Beyond team was set up using Gripen E to explore how trustworthy AI can be used against future threats. The team will now analyse the flight data and continue training the AI agent to further enhance its BVR capabilities, with a further series of flights throughout the remainder of the year. The project, fully sponsored by Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV), is part of the Swedish Concept programme for Future Fighter Systems.
