A.P. CM takes part in Gangamma temple jatara in Kuppam, offers silk vastrams to deity
The couple landed at the grounds of Dravidian University on the Kuppam outskirts by helicopter from Bengaluru. Mr. Naidu was accorded a warm welcome by the officials, people of Kuppam Assembly constituency and the TDP cadres.
Mr. Naidu reached the Gangamma temple, where the temple priests welcomed him with a traditional Poornakumbham. He offered prayers and presented silk garments (pattu vastrams) to the presiding deity.
Mr. Naidu exchanged pleasantries with the TDP cadres before leaving for Bengaluru airport from the helipad. District Collector Sumit Kumar, SP Manikanta Chandolu, and senior TDP leaders were present.
The Kuppam Jatara is a major festival of Sri Prasanna Tirupati Gangamma, considered the sister of Lord Venkateswara. The history of the jatara dates back to the 17th century and the festival has been receiving the patronage of the rulers of Telugu, Kannada and Tamil dynasties, followed by the British Raj.
On Tuesday evening, a palanquin carrying the idol's head was taken out in a grand procession from Pedda Bavi at Pathapeta to the main temple.
The procession will continue for over 24 hours, covering all wards in the Kuppam municipality. An estimated 3 lakh people from Kuppam, and neighbouring Tamil Nadu and Karnataka thronged the venue during the festival.
Till Wednesday noon, thousands of villagers offered prayers to the processional deity. The festival was concluded with the Viswaroopa Darshan of the Goddess on Wednesday.

Jagan demands cancellation of Pulivendula, Vontimitta local body bypolls
Agency: Amaravati, Aug 13 (PTI) YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday demanded the cancellation of Pulivendula and Vontimitta ZPTC bypolls held on August 12, demanding that they be reconducted under the protection of Central security agencies. Reddy alleged that the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) bypolls were held in an undemocratic and tyrannical manner. Addressing a press conference at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, the former chief minister alleged that the TDP-led NDA government restrained party polling agents from executing their duties and scared voters from exercising their franchise to rig votes. 'Cancel the two elections (Pulivendula & Vontimitta held on Tuesday) and re-conduct them under the protection of Central forces," said Reddy, adding that democracy is not visible in the state and totally absent. Accompanied by the two YSRCP candidates who fought the Pulivendula and Vontimitta ZPTC bypolls, Reddy said they will move the Court. According to Reddy, State Election Commissioner Nilam Sawhney played a 'dummy' role and failed to rein in the alleged excesses of the ruling party leaders and cadres and also police who allegedly worked in a biased manner. Violence, allegations mark ZPTC by-elections in Andhra Pradesh
KADAPA: The ZPTC by-elections in Pulivendula and Vontimitta turned volatile on Tuesday, marked by clashes, voter intimidation, and allegations of electoral malpractice between the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Both constituencies, seen as prestige battles, witnessed heavy police presence and preventive measures that failed to curb escalating tensions. In Pulivendula, police placed YSRCP MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy and TDP MLC Bhoomireddy Ramagopal Reddy under house arrest early Monday to prevent potential unrest. Avinash Reddy was taken into custody and briefly moved to Yerraguntla police station amid protests from supporters before returning to his Pulivendula office under tight security. DSP Murali Naik threatened to shoot YSRCP workers for resisting police orders during the ZPTC by-election campaign.
