What to make of Judah Mintz's first 3 summer league games for Sixers
Undrafted out of Syracuse, Mintz took the opportunity presented to him and he balled out. He had 21 points on 7-for-12 shooting including going 6-for-6 from the foul line in Monday's loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder before going for 26 points on 9-for-15 shooting and 8-for-9 from the foul line with three steals in Tuesday's win over the Memphis Grizzlies.
All in all, Mintz averaged 18.7 points in the three games he played in Salt Lake City connecting on 21-for-23 on free throws and it was a big building block for him after he averaged 21.2 points in the G League playing for the Delaware Blue Coats.
As the Sixers move forward in the summer league, one has to wonder what comes next for Mintz. He has a natural shiftiness to him and he has a knack for scoring the ball which has to make the Sixers wonder about giving him an opportunity when training camp rolls around in September.
At the moment, the Sixers have three players on two-way deals: Jabari Walker, Hunter Sallis, and Dominick Barlow. One has to wonder if Philadelphia opens up a two-way slot to give Mintz a shot at the league. Especially, if he continues to score the ball this efficiently. He isn't much of a shooter--he shot only 26.6% from deep in the G League--but his ability to get into the paint and create angles cannot be ignored. If he continues this scoring barrage in Las Vegas, he will certainly be worth a look in camp.
One option the Sixers could do is waive Ricky Council IV, who has a non-guaranteed contract, convert Walker, and give Mintz an opportunity. That isn't a report or anything, but it is a viable option for Philadelphia if it were to think about giving Mintz an opportunity. The Sixers could always use another ball-handler who can score off the bounce on the perimeter.

The Erial, New Jersey native was named to the first-team All-SEC in 2024 after leading the team with 117 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and five sacks. Baun led the top-ranked total defense with 151 tackles and five forced fumbles in 2024. He also added one interception. He was one of two players since at least 2000 with 150-plus tackles and five-plus forced fumbles in a season (the Colts' Zaire Franklin also did so in 2024).

Sixers' Tyrese Maxey posts that he's back in the gym putting in work
Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey is one of the more maniacal workers in the league. The former No. 21 pick of the 2020 draft has answered any and all questions about his game as he has morphed into an All-Star in this league and is considered as one of the top stars in this game. The 2024-25 season was down for him in terms of his shooting. While he did average 26.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 3.3 rebounds, his shooting numbers of 43.7% overall and 33.7% from deep were below his career norms. That's likely due to a number of factors from not having Joel Embiid and Paul George too much around him as well as injuries of his own. Either way, Maxey is back in the gym looking to take another step forward. He posted a boomerang on his Instagram story as he was at the team's practice facility very early in the morning. For the Sixers to have a shot in the 2025-26 season, they will need a clean bill of health while also getting their star trio all on the same page. They only played 18 games together in 2024-25 and finished 15 of them.

Fans argue all the time whether the 2020 NBA title won during the "bubble" season should count or have an asterisk next to it. Is it to discredit the Lakers and LeBron James, or do people actually think it wasn't a legitimate title win? Well, those fans who won't give the Lakers credit could be backed up by an NBA executive. Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations, Daryl Morey, told the Athletic that people around the league privately agree the championship isn't genuine. "Yet, everyone I speak to around the league privately agrees that it doesn't truly hold up as a genuine championship," said Morey. "Perhaps the lasting legacy of the NBA bubble is that the NBA should be proud of its leadership at both the beginning and end of the pandemic, even though the champion will forever be marked by an asterisk." While some fans might agree, Morey might not be the best messenger for this take on championships due to his teams never winning an NBA title or even just reaching the Finals. In 2006, Morey took over as assistant general manager for the Houston Rockets. He was promoted a year later to general manager. The Rockets reached the playoffs multiple times but could never get to the Finals. Morey did win Executive of the Year in the 2017-2018 season, though. Now he serves as the President of Basketball Operations for the 76ers, who haven't reached the conference finals since he got there in 2020. Others interviewed by the Athletic disagreed with Morey and, even said that the time in the bubble was one of the most difficult, and that title run by the Lakers should never have an asterisk beside it. Not only just a hard time for the world, not knowing what's next, but for players and everyone in the NBA as well. Players and coaches couldn't go home to family, were isolated in a hotel room, underwent daily COVID-19 testing and could only leave their rooms to play basketball. No fans in the stands to give teams a home-court advantage: nothing but basketball. The Lakers defeated the Miami Heat, 4-2, in the 2020 "bubble" Finals.
