Hezbollah chief says will not surrender under threat from Israel
Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said Sunday his group would not surrender or lay down its weapons in response to Israeli threats, despite pressure on the Lebanese militants to disarm. "This threat will not make us accept surrender," Qassem said in a televised speech to thousands of his supporters in the southern suburbs of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold, during the Shiite Muslim religious commemoration of Ashura. Lebanese leaders who took office in the aftermath of a war between Israel and Hezbollah last year have repeatedly vowed a state monopoly on bearing arms while demanding Israel comply with a November ceasefire that ended the fighting. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Unsold Container Homes in National Capital Region - Prices You Won't Believe! Live Events Lebanese authorities are due to deliver a response to Barrack's request for Iran-backed Hezbollah to be disarmed by the end of the year, according to a Lebanese official who spoke on condition of anonymity. Lebanese authorities say they have been dismantling Hezbollah's military infrastructure in the south, near the Israeli border. Israel has continued to strike Lebanon despite the November ceasefire, claiming to hit Hezbollah targets and accusing Beirut of not doing enough to disarm the group. According to the ceasefire agreement, Hezbollah is to pull its fighters back north of the Litani river, some 30 kilometres (20 miles) from the Israeli frontier. Israel was to withdraw its troops from all of Lebanon, but has kept them deployed in five points it deemed strategic.

Reuters handle on Twitter withheld in India; Government says no order given; official says 'we are continuously ...'
International news agency Reuters's Twitter (now X) handle has been withheld in India, reports PTI. The action, the report says, comes 'in response to a legal demand', as per the message displayed on Reuters's X handle. Notably, only the official X account of the global news agency as well as Reuters World handles are inaccessible in the country. Affiliated X handles such as Reuters Tech News, Reuters Fact Check, Reuters Asia, and Reuters China are still accessible. Users attempting to access the Reuters account on X are now seeing a message that reads: "Account withheld. @ Reuters has been withheld in IN in response to a legal demand." According to the PTI report, government officials have denied raising any legal demand to withhold the news agency's account in the country. Instead, they have sought 'explanation from X for blocking Reuters account.' They further added that since the issue isn't relevant now, the government has asked Elon Musk's X to explain the blocking and lift the embargo. "An order was issued on May 7 (during Operation Sindoor) but it was not enforced. X seems to have enforced that order now which is a mistake on their part. Government has reached out to X for resolving it at the earliest," an official source told PTI. What does account withheld means As explaned on an X help page, about country withheld content" means X was compelled to withhold the entire account specified (e.g., @username) in response to a valid legal demand, such as a court order.
