JDT coach seeks better balance despite 5-0 FA Cup win
JOHOR Darul Ta'zim (JDT) head coach Xisco Munoz acknowledged his team only settled into their rhythm after scoring the first goal in their 5-0 FA Cup win against UM-Damansara FC. The match, held at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, saw JDT struggle initially before finding momentum. Munoz highlighted the importance of the opening goal in shifting the game's dynamics. 'The first goal was crucial. Before that, we lacked rhythm, but afterward, the team played with more confidence and intensity,' he said. He noted that scoring early allowed JDT to press harder and create more opportunities. Despite the convincing win, Munoz insisted his team must improve, especially in home matches. 'At home, we must perform better. New players are still adapting to the intensity here,' he explained. UM-Damansara FC suffered a setback when captain Hariz Mansor was sent off in the 38th minute. JDT's Jonathan Silva scored twice, including a header in the second half, securing control of the match. UM-Damansara FC coach Ridzuan Abu Shah praised his team's early performance despite the heavy defeat. He attributed the loss partly to Mansor's red card disrupting their game plan. - Bernama

Soccer-Masters warns racist abuse will result in banning, possible prosecution
Soccer Football - Premier League - Liverpool v AFC Bournemouth - Anfield, Liverpool, Britain - August 15, 2025 AFC Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo scores their second goal REUTERS/Peter Powell LIVERPOOL, England (Reuters) -Premier League chief executive Richard Masters issued a warning on Saturday that anyone guilty of racist abuse would be banned from stadiums and could face prosecution. His comments came a day after Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo was the target of racist abuse during his side's 4-2 loss to Liverpool at Anfield. "No Premier League footballer should ever have to, in their workplace or online, suffer that sort of abuse. It is important that we keep saying that," Masters told BBC Sport. "It is a problem for society. It leaks into football and it shouldn't happen in a football stadium. It shouldn't happen online. "It makes people like me and other football people in charge of the game think twice about what else we can do to ensure that these things don't happen in the future. "If you are found to be using discriminatory language inside a football ground you will be ejected, second you will be banned and third you may face criminal charges." Friday's game was briefly halted in the 29th minute to address the incident, with referee Anthony Taylor summoning both managers to the touchline for a briefing. Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and Bournemouth counterpart Adam Smith were then called over to the benches for further instructions before play resumed four minutes later. Ghana international Semenyo went on to score twice after play resumed. Merseyside Police confirmed that the 47-year-old man from Liverpool who was ejected after the incident had been arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and taken into custody to be interviewed. Semenyo thanked his teammates, Liverpool, match officials and the "entire football family" for their support in a statement on Saturday. "Last night at Anfield will stay with me forever -- not because of one person's words, but because of how the entire football family stood together," Semenyo wrote on Instagram. The incident at Anfield followed reports of Tottenham Hotspur's French forward Mathys Tel being subjected to racist abuse on social media after missing a penalty in his side's UEFA Super Cup defeat by Paris St Germain on Wednesday. JDT Coach Wants Better Balance And Intensity From Team Despite Big Win
ISKANDAR PUTERI, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) head coach Xisco Munoz admitted that his team only found their rhythm after scoring the opening goal in their 5-0 victory over UM-Damansara FC in the FA Cup first-round at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium last night. He said the early stages were difficult as the players struggled to control the tempo, but the breakthrough changed the momentum of the game. 'The first goal was very important for us. Before that, we couldn't find the rhythm we wanted, but after scoring, the team played with more confidence and intensity. From there, we pressed harder and created more opportunities. bootstrap slideshow "It is never easy to score the first goal, but once we did, the game became more open and we had more chances,' he told reporters after the match. Asked whether he was satisfied with the team's overall performance after three competitive matches this season, the coach stressed that improvements were still necessary, particularly in home games. 'Of course not. One of the most important things is that at home we must perform better. The players are still adapting, especially the new ones, to the intensity here. Step by step we need to find the right balance. At the moment, we are creating many chances, including penalties, but in attack we must use our capacity more effectively,' he explained. A1 League side UM Damansara FC took a heavy blow in the 38th minute when captain Hariz Mansor was sent off after receiving his second yellow card. The breakthrough came just before half-time, with JDT's Argentine left back Jonathan Silva finding the net in the 44th minute and went on to add his second of the night with a header ten minutes into the second half, putting the Southern Tigers firmly in control. Meanwhile, UM- Damansara FC Coach Ridzuan Abu Shah said was satisfied with his team's performance despite losing 5-0 to JDT.
