'Remington's new 2-in-1 styler gave me long-lasting smoothness for £350 less than a Dyson'

Mirror's shopping writer Grace put Remington's new 2-in-1 styler to the test to see if it could successfully smooth her frizzy hair
I'm a frequent hair tool user, often using two or three heated ones just after one wash. My hair is very frizzy and hard to tame without a lot of heat, so it's just what I've become used to. However, this is not great for the health of my strands, which suffer a lot under the constant heat.
Although I use heat protection religiously every time, I sometimes don't think this is enough to fully protect. Unfortunately, I'm not quite ready to give up my precious heated blow-dry brush and straighteners. So when I came across Remington's latest launch, I was intrigued, to say the least.
Remington recently launched its new AIRvive™ collection, which features hairdryers, curlers, and straighteners that use a combination of Ionic Air Technology and heat-activated micro-conditioners to create frizz-free results. And it was the AIRvive™ 2-in-1 Air Styler that caught my attention the most.
The device is essentially a styling shortcut for smoother, sleeker hair without extreme heat damage. It gently dries and styles damp hair in one go, helping to lock in natural moisture for up to 24 hours. It reminded me of the Dyson Airstrait, which similarly styles hair from wet to dry but for around £350 less. Remington's styler is priced at £109.99 (but currently £89.99 at Argos), whereas Dyson's is a hefty £449.99 (although currently £379.99 at Boots).
Using this tool is super simple and quite literally foolproof. Start by using the drying mode on damp hair to smooth and prep your strands without frying them. Then switch to the finishing mode to straighten, add flicks, curls, or waves, whatever look you're going for.
The curved, cool-touch casing makes curling super easy while also ensuring your hand doesn't burn in the styling process.
How it works is all thanks to the magic ceramic plates. They're infused with tiny, heat-activated micro-conditioners that release and create a frizz-fighting barrier. This combines with the ionic airflow technology that tames static flyaways and gives your hair that smooth, glossy finish.
The only problem I've found with this so far is that if you have thick, coarse hair, you will have to put in the time to smooth it out. Thanks to the lower heat, it does take longer than a standard hair dryer or straightener to really get that salon-level smoothness. I'm not too fussed by this; however, if I were in a rush before work, I might not be reaching for this tool.
I also recommend sectioning your hair into parts to fully dry the roots and all the strands hiding underneath.
Overall, I was super impressed with how smooth my hair stayed, even in this muggy weather. With previous low-heat devices, I haven't been able to achieve long-lasting sleekness, but this styler has changed my mind.
Another one of my favourite damp-to-dry styling devices is Drybar's Double Shot Blowdryer Brush. This is one of the only heated brushes that has given me sleek, bouncy hair that actually lasts.
