Sci-fi fans can binge all 4 seasons of ‘mind-blowing' series for free on ITVX
If you're in search of a solid genre romp, ITV has added four seasons of a Roswell-set alien mystery series to entertain you this weekend. Based on Melinda Metz's Roswell High series of novels, The CW sci-fi drama Roswell, New Mexico is about a bunch of extraterrestrial beings who infiltrate small-town America – except, they're the good guys. With a third and fourth season that have never aired in the UK before, the first season kicks off with the return of Liz Ortecho, a scientist played by Jeanine Mason, who finds not much has changed in her hometown. Amid government cuts in biomedical research, Liz is forced back home to live with her father after first leaving town in the wake of her younger sister Rosa's death. Many of her classmates from her high school days are still stuck in Roswell – the infamous ground zero for alien activity in the US – including her former crush, Max Evans (Nathan Dean Parsons), who's now a local police officer. As Liz starts to get close to Max again (sparks naturally flying), she learns he isn't quite what he seems. In a twist straight out of Apple TV Plus's Sugar, Max is in fact a member of an alien race that crash-landed in the 1940s. He has kept his unearthliness hidden all this time. But a government conspiracy threatens to expose Max and his family – and could endanger not only their lives but also his newfound romance with Liz… Dun, dun, dun! If this sounds a bit like The Vampire Diaries or Pretty Little Liars type of soapy drama, it has a couple of stars from those shows – Michael Trevino and Tyler Blackburn. Other cast members include Nathan Parsons, Michael Vlamis, Jeanine Mason, Lily Cowles, and Heather Hemmens. Fans have long heaped the highest compliments onto the show, which first aired between 2019 and 2022 in the US and maintains a glowing record of Google reviews today. Saskia Robbiati described the show as 'amazing' and the chemistry between Liz and Max is 'undeniable', adding: 'I really appreciate how relevant the show is to today's issues, focusing on immigration and all forms of prejudice with humanity and depth. 'The show is action-packed, the chemistry and acting are on point and the mystery is really interesting.' Stephanie praised: 'Roswell, New Mexico is one of my new favorite shows on television! It's amazing and has a great cast, plus I'm a die hard Originals and Vampire Diaries fan.' James Bertamini chimed in: 'Show is absolutely terrific!! Roswell is a must see for anyone who loves alien movies or shows. More Trending 'I put off watching it for years (although an alien buff) . I thought Hollywood did Roswell to death, but this show is different. The storyline is well thought-out, and the acting is superb. My hat is off to the creators of this mind-blowing series.' Meanwhile, the show also has a respectable 77% score from critics on review site Rotten Tomatoes, while audience ratings put it at 62%. So, with a total of 52 episodes to sink your teeth into, surely that's your week's TV sorted? View More » Roswell, New Mexico is available to stream on ITVX. Got a story? Gladiators star Steel reveals medical procedure contributed to newborn son death
Gladiators star Zack George, aka TV athlete Steel, has shared how he believes a medical procedure contributed to the death of his newborn son. The BBC star, 35, and wife Samantha George welcomed son Leo earlier this year, who was born 23 weeks premature. Tragically, the infant died 13 days later, as his condition took a grave turn. Described by George as 'one hell of a strong boy,' the issues began when Leo was taken off his ventilator and placed on CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure), a non-invasive way of keeping airways open. It was during this procedure that it is believed accidental damage was done to his windpipe. Later suffering from brain bleeds, a hole in his heart, and collapsing lungs, air pockets also began to form around little Leo's lungs. George told The Mirror: 'Around the tenth day, they started getting a bit bigger. They came to the conclusion that when they tubed him, either the first or the second time, they created a hole in his windpipe. It's no one's fault; a baby that young is really fragile—it's just a risk.' He continued: 'That was really hard, because if it hadn't happened, he would probably still be here. A 23-week-old baby has so much to do. Overnight, he got quite bad; that's when we went in, and he passed away.' With Leo already having been through so much, the parents decided against CPR. On April 8, George shared the sad news in a post to his Instagram account. Posting a picture of himself and Samantha cradling their son, he wrote: 'Your mummy brought you into this world and your daddy held you as you left ♥️ 'Leo…… you showed us what the true definition of strength is and we are so proud of you. 'You brought so much positivity to the world with the short time you were with us and we felt that positivity in abundance, we thank you all so much for that. 'Although you were only with us for a short time, you brought us a lifetime of love. Thank you for letting us know that YOU had had enough of this fight. We will forever be grateful that we didn't have to make that decision for you 💔 'Leo our lion, we love you more than you will ever know. 'Rest easy our little boy 🦁🦁🦁'. In the comments below, George's Gladiators co-stars paid tribute to the family's loss. 'RIP baby Leo 💔🕊️ Thoughts and prayers are with you both,' wrote Montell Douglas, who plays Gladiator Fire. 'So sorry!! Forever here for you guy!!' said Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, AKA Nitro. Matty Campbell, or Bionic, said: 'Heartbreaking. we're all here for you ❤️' 'My heart genuinely breaks for you both, sending big hugs❤️' commented Fury star Jodie Ounsley. In Leo's honour, George has launched a 13-day-long fitness challenge during which he'll do a mile of burpees every day to commemorate his son. Announcing the news on Instagram, George wrote: 'It's hard to put into words the pain of losing a child. The grief is heavy, and it's taken so much strength just to begin piecing ourselves back together. 'Our beautiful Leo taught us the true meaning of strength, courage, and bravery in his 13 precious days with us. Inspired by him, I'm taking on the '13 Days Fighting' challenge — to honour his life and carry forward his legacy.' A donation to the fund will raise money for the Leicester Royal Infirmary NICU unit, where Leo was cared for, while also raising awareness for premature baby loss and supporting other families who have suffered similar heartbreak. Fans can donate to the cause via George's GoFundMe page, which has raised over £6,000 so far. As the star prepared for the challenge, George shared a video of his fellow Gladiators practising 15 minutes of burpees. More Trending 'This is a moment that will forever be with me, my family and Leo 🦁' George wrote as he shared the footage to his Instagram account. 'Everyone who makes one of the greatest Tv shows on earth pulling together and doing burpees in memory of Leo ♥️' Describing it as 'very emotional but perfect at the same time,' he signed off: 'Thank you, our boy would of loved watching this from above'. Ulrika Jonsson, 57, strips down to sheer lacy underwear in sultry mirror snaps and makes cheeky jibe at critics over 'ageing' comments
Ulrika Jonsson stripped down to her underwear in an array of cheeky mirror photographs as she hit back at cruel trolls who commented on her appearance. The Gladiators star, 57, took to her Instagram on Friday to show off her new delivery from Understatement Underwear. She showed off her toned figure in a mesh neon green two-piece set from the Swedish lingerie brand as she posed up a storm in the mirror. Gushing that she was 'completely in love' with the gift, she wrote: 'Beautiful, comfortable Swedish underwear,' as she plugged her PR package. She also hit back at trolls who made cruel 'ageing' comments about her appearance as she cheekily wrote the look was modelled by people of 'all ages'. 'Modelled by women of all shapes and sizes. Oh, and ages,' she penned in a pointed caption. Her remark seemed to be a nod to the trolling she faced after appearing on Spencer Matthews' recent Untapped Podcast. The television presenter hit back at 'nasty and vindictive' comments on her 'ageing' appearance after she went makeup-free to film the podcast episode. She was hit by cruel remarks that she was 'over-tanned, imperfect and ageing', which she then said made her 'heart hurt' and 'feel awful'. Writing for The Times, she told how the 'nasty, vindictive and hurtful comments' flooded in as she hit back at the unkind trolls. She wrote: 'I've fought hard against the whole perception of women being solely about beauty and image. 'I'm a practical woman and I come with a wealth of experience, kindness and intelligence. 'The fact that I now have wrinkles, lines and jowls should be of no consequence.I know I look older. 'But then I should: I'm a menopausal mother of four whose body and face has lived quite the life.' She added that she had showed up for the podcast recording without wearing make-up as she had forgotten it would be filmed. Ulrika went on to explain that while she has tried both Botox and fillers in the past, now she just wants to look her age. She also praised actress Pamela Anderson, who in recent years has become known for making red carpet appearances without make-up. It is not the first time Ulrika has hit back at trolls as she previously addressed the unkind criticism in an Instagram post. She said in one post alongside a selfie: 'I feel I need to address something. I don't get a lot of nasty comments - or if I do, I don't see them or send people love in response. 'But a couple of weeks ago I took part in a fab podcast @ to discuss my sobriety with the smart @spencermatthews. 'I wore no make-up. Partly because I kinda forgot that a project for the ears is nowadays also a feast for the eyes. 'But as someone who has had to wear heavy make-up on screen from 5am for years, I'm not a fan. 'Most crucially tho, since childhood I've suffered from eczema. On my body - the creases of my arms and legs - on my face - eyes and lips. Make-up has always been the enemy because it's been agony to wear. 'There were a lot of positive comments about the WORDS I said on the podcast. But a considerable amount about my tanned appearance. 'AND how OLD I look. In a few weeks I will be 58. I will never look like the fresh 21yr old that used to greet you first thing in the morning by the weather board. 'I'm not ashamed to say that I am a sun worshipper and will no doubt pay the price for that. But UV lamps and salt baths, astringent solutions and creams were a feature of my life since I was a small child. 'I have uneven pigmentation doubtlessly not helped by ageing. I sometimes use filters in my pics because it's easier than foundation and less painful. 'I work tirelessly in my garden year round and often in the sun. I rarely sunbathe any more. Haven't had a sun bed for 6 months - which I do occasionally in winter months. Not ashamed. 'I have not had a holiday - of any kind - since 2018. That's 7yrs. So, I understand that an over-tanned, imperfect and AGEING face offends you. But try to listen to the words rather than constantly judge women's appearance. You might learn something. And making people feel s**t doesn't make you a hero.' Podcast host Spencer has also defended her after she was trolled, writing: 'People shouldn't comment on the appearance of others. We stand with Ulrika.'
