HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. - A routine traffic stop in Haralson County led to the discovery of multiple illegal firearms and the arrest of four men on a series of felony charges, authorities said Tuesday.
What we know
Deputy Michael Manson, assigned to the Haralson County Crime Suppression Operational Interstate Task Force, was conducting traffic enforcement along Interstate 20 on May 27 when he stopped a white Dodge Charger for illegally tinted windows. Upon approaching the vehicle, Manson detected the smell of marijuana, the sheriff's office said.
After the driver admitted to not having a license, deputies asked all four occupants to exit the vehicle. One passenger was seen moving items around inside, prompting a probable cause search of the car.
During the search, deputies recovered six firearms, including three equipped with illegal machine conversion devices, also known as switches. One of the guns was reported stolen from Tennessee, according to the Georgia Crime Information Center.
All four individuals were taken into custody and booked at the Haralson County Detention Center.
The driver, David Antonio Huggins, 19, of Memphis, Tennessee, was charged with driving while unlicensed, a window tint violation, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a dangerous weapon, theft by receiving stolen property, and criminal use of an article with an altered identification mark.
Tyrese Dwayne White, 20, and Marcorellis Lanorris Burns, 21, both of Memphis, face the same four felony charges excluding the traffic offenses.
Taequan Herndon, 19, of Douglasville, Georgia, was also charged with the same firearm-related offenses.

YPD, OSHP, find guns, marijuana in cars that were part of chase investigation
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Reports said police and state troopers Wednesday found guns and marijuana in two cars that were recovered during a high-speed chase Tuesday. The cars, which were in a city impound at 703 Wilson Ave., were seized after a man was arrested following a chase about 11 p.m. Monday that ended after the driver went to a building in the 1100 block of Andrews Ave and parked there. In the building, police found a Jeep heavily damaged by gunfire that had two guns inside in plain view and a dodge Charger that had a large amount of marijuana inside. Police had the cars towed and got a search warrant to search them Wednesday in the impound lot. Inside the Jeep, officers found an AR-15 pistol and a 9mm handgun. Inside the Charger, police found several packs of marijuana edibles, packages of marijuana in small and bulk size and five packs of disposal THC vape pens, reports said. The man who led police on the chase, Derrian Thomas, was arraigned Wednesday in municipal court and is free after posting $7,500 bond. He is due for a preliminary hearing June 18. VIERA, Fla. - Florida Highway Patrol troopers are searching for multiple suspects who fled on foot after a high-speed crash on Interstate 95 in Brevard County. What we know The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a suspected street racing incident that led to a crash on I-95 in Brevard County. The crash occurred near State Road 520 in Cocoa. The three occupants fled the vehicle on foot and remain at large. What we don't know Authorities have not released the identities of the suspects or confirmed whether the vehicle was stolen. It is also unclear whether any surveillance or dashcam footage may help in identifying those involved. The backstory The crash happened after the vehicle in question was allegedly racing near Exit 191 in Viera. Witness accounts and police reports suggest the car was traveling at high speeds before hitting another vehicle and coming to a stop. Brevard County deputies and FHP responded swiftly, deploying air and K-9 units. What they're saying The incident began near Exit 191 in Viera and ended roughly 10 miles north at State Road 520 in Cocoa. Investigators say the suspects had been racing on the highway before their car crashed, prompting all three occupants to run from the scene. A woman identified only as Sabrina said her vehicle was sideswiped by the Charger during the crash. "All of a sudden, this Dodge Charger-looking car just smashed into the side of my car, took out the whole side front end," she said. "I'm blown away right now. I'm in shock." She described a heavy law enforcement presence immediately following the crash. "They're searching for them, running around with ARs and everything," she said. The Brevard County Sheriff's Office responded with patrol deputies, K-9 units, and an aviation team to assist FHP. "Our deputies responded along with our K9s and our aviation unit," said sheriff's spokesperson Tod Goodyear. Two sheriff's office patrol vehicles were damaged while responding to the scene. New details in fatal Union Avenue wreck: alleged drunk driver was underage
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — 17 News has long examined a signature issue we call Kern's Sober Reality. The reality is that too many people still drink and drive — often with deadly consequences. The latest case in point, a fiery crash Tuesday night in central Bakersfield that left one person dead and two others seriously injured. The collision was caught on camera just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night, at the intersection of Union and East California avenues. A white BMW headed northbound on Union Avenue ran a red light and crashed into a Dodge Charger that was headed westbound on East California on a green light. The crash left the 27-year-old driver of the Charger dead. BPD confirmed with 17 News all three involved were men — the driver of the BMW — who was moderately injured — is 19; the passenger — in unstable condition — is 20. Detectives said both remain in the hospital. 'The driver of the Dodge was pinned inside the vehicle, so officers would've had to wait for fire department personnel to arrive,' said Sgt. Joshua Deutinger, with the BPD traffic division. The BMW crashed into the fence next to San Joaquin Tractor Company, narrowly missing the business, and caught fire. First responders and passerbys rushed to distance them from the car. 'With how north they came from the intersection and the separation of those cars, it definitely speaks to the speed that was involved in the collision,' Sgt. Deutinger noted. In addition to speeding, underage drinking and driving under the influence is suspected by the 19-year-old in the BMW. 1 arrested on Chester Lane after barricaded subject forces SWAT callout: police The sergeant said toxicology results aren't yet available. He also said the deceased driver of the Charger likely was not speeding, nor driving impaired. The speed limit out is 40 miles-per-hour in the area of the wreck. An employee told 17 News speeding and running red lights in this area is not uncommon. 'Usually in that intersection, if there is a major injury crash, a lot of times, speed does have to do with that,' the sergeant said. Chris Hagan with the local law firm, Chain Cohn Clark agreed. 'Union [Avenue] is heavily travelled by pedestrians…and so, we do see a lot of automobiles versus pedestrian fatals on Union,' said Hagan. Hagan detailed that in 2024, there were 37 DUI-related deaths and 731 DUI-related injuries in Kern County. 'In Kern County, we have the highest arrest record in the nation for drivers who are under the influence,' Hagan said of the local severity of driving impaired. 'You are more likely to be involved in a DUI collision in Kern County as compared to virtually any other city or any other county in the nation.'
