Exclusive: Actor Varun Badola says no one expected Saiyaara to be this big

While the world is gushing over newbies Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, actor Varun Badola's short yet impactful cameo left fans amazed, once again. The actor played Krish's (Panday) alcoholic father, and their emotional scenes had audiences in tears. Interestingly, Varun is set to play a similar role in his next TV show 'Itti Si Khushi', and the coincidence has even left him stumped. Speaking exclusively to India Today, the actor joked that maybe his stars are favouring alcohol this season. He also admitted that his TV show makers had no inkling ofa his film, and it all happened SUCCESS WAS ALL FATE'The Mohit Suri film has already crossed Rs 500 crore globally, and is still running to packed theatres. Though Varun Badola sheepishly confessed that he was yet to watch 'Saiyaara'. He revealed that during the premiere, he was unwell and then got busy with the shoot of his TV show. However, his family loved the film but also felt that he should have had more scenes.'Also discussing the success of the YRF-backed project, the actor said, "Honestly, I don't think anyone in the team had expected the film to do so well. It was made on a limited budget, don't think anyone predicted that it would earn multiple times that. There are no big stars leading it. It was all fate. I messaged Mohit that my family wanted a bigger role, so if you are making a sequel, make sure I have a meatier part. He replied that hopefully next time we will have a better budget." As for his limited scenes in the film, audiences were touched by all of them, especially the one where he breaks down in front of his son. While Varun Badola said that after so many years in the industry, he does have the confidence to pull off such intense scenes. He also shared that he always knew what he was signing up for, and while it was a small part, he wanted to be a part of a Yash Raj MYTHSVarun went on to further bust the belief that TV actors don't have a chance to be in a big-budget film. "It never is about the medium. Regardless of where you've worked, if you are good, you will get work. I mean, your reputation does matter, apart from other technicalities. However, I firmly believe that any television actor worth his or her salt would probably be slightly cheaper and also more adaptable. TV teaches you to think fast, find solutions, and also learn scripts easily. We are conditioned to operate faster. So it's always a win-win situation for the producers. So why would they not take TV actors?" he when asked about the particular scene, the actor said that it's funny how people are asking him about performing with Ahaan and Aneet at that moment. He laughed that he was enacting an inebriated man going through an emotional turmoil, who didn't have any sense about who was around him. He said, "I had to do that scene in complete isolation without thinking about who else was around."PRAISES AHAAN-ANEETadvertisementHowever, he did have some words of praise for both young actors, along with a word of caution. Stating that they have a wonderful career ahead, Varun Badola added that, however, it will also transpire according to the choices they made."Ahaan has a great screen presence and is a wonderful boy. Aneet is solid, especially the way she handled the soliloquies. To see a young actor with such a command over their language is wonderful. They had this success, but what happens next after Saiyaara wholly depends on the choices they make. As performers, they are already in a comfortable zone, but they are still kids. So I am not going to predict anything right now," he further discussed the madness that the film created among fans in theatres, with people dancing, crying, and just expressing their intense emotions. Sharing that he was shocked to see people taking their clothes off in excitement, Varun Badola wondered whether all of it was genuine. However, he shared that people did come to theatres, which the box office collections truly said, "If this could be planted, I think every film would do that then. People today use their personal money to promote themselves and their work. And here, these kids weren't allowed to leave the house. So that proves something, right? It was the film and not just the marketing that got it success."And while the world talks about how, post-Saiyaara, things may become easier for outsiders, the actor has his doubts. He mentioned that even in a small-budgeted film, someone from the film family did get a chance. "Aneet is an exception, but the girl is also talented. I don't think it's going to become really easy. But if you are talented, go out, shoot scenes and post them on social media. It's important that your work gets noticed."The actor's next TV show will launch on Sony SAB on August 18.- EndsMust Watch

Rajinikanth Spotted At Hyderabad Airport, Poses With Fans For Pics

Last Updated: Rajinikanth was seen at Hyderabad airport, charming fans with humble interactions and posing for photos. A trending video shows fans praising his effortless coolness and grace. When Rajinikanth enters a room, or in this case, an airport, you feel it before you even see him. The superstar was spotted at the Hyderabad airport earlier today, and as always, his effortless charm lit up the terminal. Clad in his signature simple style, Rajinikanth made his way through the airport while fans eagerly gathered around him. Thalaivaa didn't disappoint as he paused, smiled, and posed for photos with fans who were clearly over the moon to spot him in person. A video capturing the moment is doing the rounds online, and we can't help but smile watching him interact so humbly with everyone. Take a look: Fans took to social media to gush about the encounter, with one user writing, 'Only Rajinikanth can look this cool at an airport!" Another commented, 'The aura, the grace… he's the GOAT." Rajinikanth will be seen next in Coolie that also features an ensemble cast including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, and Sathyaraj, with Aamir Khan making a cameo. The film's music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography by Girish Gangadharan and editing by Philomin Raj. It is produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures. Coolie follows the story of Deva, a former daily-wage laborer with a dark and mysterious past who emerges from the shadows after decades to avenge a close friend. Rajinikanth plays the titular role in what promises to be a massy yet layered narrative packed with action, suspense, and political undertones. At the trailer launch event of Coolie, Rajinikanth praised Nagarjuna's hairline while joking about his own balding. 'I saw Nagarjuna during the shoot and he still looks the same. His hair is still intact. I've lost all my hair. When I asked him his secret, he said exercise." Rajinikanth recalled calling Lokesh Kanagaraj after watching Kaithi, deciding early on that he wanted to work with the director before others could. 'Before other actors line up for him, I wanted to meet him. I called him after Kaithi and asked if he had any stories for me." When Lokesh mentioned he was a Kamal Haasan fan, Rajinikanth quipped, 'He said yes and also added that he was a Kamal Haasan fan… Did I ask you? Did I ask you whose fan you are?" That playful moment proved Rajinikanth knew the director valued strong storytelling over punchy dialogues. He also joked about his health on stage, sharing that he asked choreographer Sandy not to overdo the dance steps. 'He promised me that we'd kill it in the first song. I told him, 'I am a 1950s model and have run lakhs of kilometres. My parts were used and changed. So, don't pressure me and handle me with care.'" It was all like a family and every single one of them was supportive of one another.'
