Post your questions for John C Reilly
Reilly's screen career stretches back to 1988 with the rather inauspicious role of Thug in Bar in Steven Seagal thriller Above the Law, but by the early 1990s he was in the thick of starry ensembles in Days of Thunder, Hoffa, What's Eating Gilbert Grape and The River Wild. An early lead role came in Anderson's directorial debut, Hard Eight, one of numerous films the pair would eventually make together including Boogie Nights, Magnolia and Licorice Pizza.
Channelling an endearing dopey naivety, he became one of the 00s best-loved comic actors in collaborations with Will Ferrell, and Walk Hard, a brilliant lampooning of music biopics. He's added zing to megabucks blockbusters such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Kong: Skull Island; been in premium indie fare such as We Need to Talk About Kevin, Carnage and The Lobster; and was the voice of a new-school Disney hero, Wreck-It Ralph.
In 2022 Reilly began a musical stage show under the name Mister Romantic, with songs about the titular character's search for love: 'I looked at our weary world a few years ago and tried to think of a way I could spread love and empathy,' he said. 'I decided the most fun way to do that was through performing and singing and telling people I loved them.' He has now recorded the songs – previously performed by Tom Waits, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Jo Stafford and more – and interweaved them with 'cinematic audio' for an album release on 13 June.
Ahead of its release, Reilly will answer your questions about his foray into music, as well as his screen career. Post them in the comments before 7pm BST on Wednesday 28 May, and his answers will be published online and in the Film & Music print section on 13 June.

Paramount will become the new home to all UFC events in the US under 7-year deal with TKO Group
Paramount will become the new home to all Ultimate Fighting Championship events in the U.S. under a seven-year agreement with TKO Group announced on Monday. Under the deal, Paramount will to exclusively distribute the UFC's full slate of its 13 marquee numbered events and 30 'Fight Nights' on its streaming platform Paramount+ — with select numbered events also set to simulcast on CBS — starting in 2026. It's a shift away from the UFC's existing pay-per-view model, which Paramount and TKO say will allow the mixed martial arts programming reach more consumers nationwide. The seven-year deal has an average annual value of $1.1 billion, the companies said Monday. Paramount, now owned by Skydance, also said it intends to explore UFC rights outside the U.S. 'as they become available in the future.'

Paramount secures UFC rights in the US in $7.7 billion deal
Aug 11 (Reuters) - Skydance-owned Paramount (PSKY.O), opens new tab will become the exclusive U.S. home of Ultimate Fighting Championship under a seven-year rights deal with TKO Group Holdings (TKO.N), opens new tab, starting in 2026, that is valued at around $7.7 billion, the companies said on Monday. Paramount shares were up 4.2% in premarket trading. The company will carry the UFC's full U.S. slate of 13 numbered events and 30 Fight Nights on its Paramount+ streaming service, with select numbered events simulcast on its CBS broadcast network. The media company also said it may pursue UFC rights in other markets as they become available. "Live sports continue to be a cornerstone of our broader strategy," said David Ellison, chairman and CEO of Paramount, calling UFC a "global sports powerhouse". Sports content, including rights to live events, has become the anchor of media strategy as cord-cutting accelerates. Rivals including Netflix and Disney have also struck similar deals to beef up their content with offerings from the likes of WWE. Paramount is paying an average of $1.1 billion annually to TKO Group for the rights. It will offer all the matches at no additional cost to consumers, in a shift from the sport's pay-per-view model. Paramount Global and Skydance Media completed their $8.4 billion merger last week, capping a drawn-out deal process marked by political scrutiny and shareholder concerns. UFC stages about 43 live events a year and says it reaches roughly 100 million fans in the U.S. and nearly 950 million broadcast and digital households worldwide.

The legendary Prince Charles Cinema is opening a second venue in east London
It's been a tumultuous 2025 at London's greatest cult picture house, but the Prince Charles Cinema (PCC) could be ending it on a high – with plans for a second venue in east London just announced. The off-Leicester Square cinema, a beloved fixture with movie-loving Londoners and famous fans like Quentin Tarantino and Paul Thomas Anderson, is planning a second venue in the space occupied by the now-shuttered Stratford Picturehouse. 'Stratford has always been a hub,' the Prince Charles's head of programming Paul Vickery tells The Guardian. 'There are plenty of students and loads of new-build properties that have sprung up recently. But it also feels like it's still trying to find its feet and figure out what it is.' The PCC was faced with the threat of closure in January when its landlord's redevelopment plans came to light, but found some protection in being listed as an asset of community value (ACV) in May. But according to Vickery, the plans for a new venue are unconnected with those legal wranglings. 'Given what's happened this year, I understand how it could look like we're trying to shift operations but that's not what's happening,' he says. 'We were looking for a pre-existing venue that needed a bit of love which we could turn into a new site. Ideally, we'd want to go on to add a third or fourth space.' The Prince Charles had previously looked at taking over Edinburgh's historic Filmhouse cinema, which reopened this summer under new management. And the PCC isn't the only London indie cinema looking to expand. to remodel its existing cinema and is exploring a second site too.
