Influencer's killing: Another woman says group threatened her over astrology posts, seeks security for family
BATHINDA: Radical group 'Kaum De Rakhe' chief Amritpal Singh Mehron, who is accused of plotting the murder of Instagram celebrity Kanchan Tiwari aka Kamal Kaur Bhabi as he found her content 'obscene', had threatened another social media influencer for promoting astrology, it came out on Saturday.

The revelation came on a day the Instagram accounts of Mehron and Kaum De Rakhe were withheld in India.
The accounts appeared blank with a notice stating: 'This is because we complied with a legal request from Punjab law enforcement to restrict this content.' A look out circular has also been issued against Mehron in the murder case.
On Saturday, social media influencer Simarpreet Kaur aka 'Preet Jatti' came forward, stating that she was receiving death threats for promoting astrology on social media.
She claimed that she was being asked to not even post simple videos on social media. Simarpreet, who has 5.01 lakh followers on Instagram, stated that she had a five-month-old baby. A resident of Tarn Taran, Simarpreet demanded security for the safety of her family.
A day earlier, on Friday, social media influencer Deepika Luthra, who was named by Mehron in the clip, had told media that she had apologised to Mehron a number of times and deleted all the double-meaning posts from her account on Friday and apprehended a threat to her life.
Earlier, in a post on his group's Instagram handle, Mehron had claimed that members of his group killed Tiwari as they felt the content she posted on Instagram was obscene. They had also warned people posting 'obscene content' to remove it and apologise or face the consquences. Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal said Bathinda police had gotten the handles of Mehron and his group withheld by reporting the matter to Punjab Police's cybercrime headquarters.

'The cybercrime wing is investigating such pages,' Kondal said.
Three members of Pendu Jatt Records, a social media influencer group, have also apologised to Mehron. They uploaded a video clip on Friday with folded hands and stated that they were misled to gain followers. From now on, they said, they will not post any obscene content.
Mehron's murderous act has recieved support from a Pakistanbased don, Shahzad Bhatti.
He said he was ready to provide any kind of support in taking on social media influencers posting content which Mehron found 'indecent'.
Tiwari was killed by strangulation on June 10 for posting indecent content on social media. Her body was recovered from a car parked in the parking lot of Adesh University near Bathinda. Two accomplices of Amritpal, Jaspreet Singh and Nimritjit Singh, have been arrested, while Mehron is on the run.

Punjab influencer murder: Key accused fled to UAE hours after murder, says police
Chandigarh, Amritpal Singh Mehron, the alleged key accused in the murder case of Punjab-based social media influencer Kanchan Kumari alias 'Kamal Kaur Bhabhi', fled to the UAE hours after the incident, police said on Sunday. Bhatinda Senior Superintendent of Police Amneet Kondal said police had already issued a lookout circular against Mehron, a resident of Moga. Mehron is a self-styled Sikh radical leader. He is also accused of issuing threats to at least two other Punjab-based woman social media influencers. The police said they have also blocked some of his social media handles. "Different police teams were already looking for Amritpal by conducting raids. On Saturday, we issued a lookout circular. When we got his passport details and checked his travel records and found that he had fled to the UAE after taking a flight from Amritsar in the evening, just hours after the murder was committed in Bathinda," Kondal told reporters in Bathinda. "We will tie-up with other authorities/agencies and we will follow due procedure for his deportation. We have informed the authorities that Mehron is wanted in murder case," she said. On June 13, two accused Jaspreet Singh of Moga and Nimratjit Singh from Tarn Taran had been arrested in connection with the murder of Kanchan Kumari, who was found dead in an abandoned car in a parking lot in Bathinda. Kanchan Kumari was murdered on June 9. Further investigations and questioning of the two arrested accused has revealed that two more accused are involved in the murder conspiracy. SSP Kondal said these two are Mehron's associates and one of them has been identified as Ranjit Singh. Both have been nominated in the already registered FIR, she said, adding that efforts are on to nab them. The 30-year-old influencer, known on Instagram as 'Kamal Kaur Bhabhi' with 384,000 followers, also operated a YouTube channel called 'Funny Bhabhi TV', which had 2,36,000 subscribers. Kanchan, a resident of Lachman colony in Ludhiana, was strangled to death, the SSP said. Immediately after their arrest, the two arrested men had said they killed Kanchan for uploading "immoral and vulgar content that hurt the community's sentiments". After the alleged murder, a video had surfaced on the internet where Mehron claimed that Kanchan was killed due to her "immoral and vulgar content" on social media and two of his accomplices have been arrested in connection with the case. In his video, Mehron also warned other influencers creating "objectionable content" to refrain from such activities. Targeting another Punjab-based influencer, he said it is "not necessary that a body will be found every time", as he indirectly referred to Kanchan's body being left in her car. Highlighting that it was a premeditated crime, SSP Kondal said during investigations and questioning of the two arrested accused, it came to light that Mehron had planned the murder three months ago. Mehron along with Jaspreet and Nimratjit had even travelled to Ludhiana, staying in nearby hotels at times, and tracking the movements, lifestyle and car used by Kanchan. The SSP again detailed how Mehron had allegedly approached Kanchan the previous week on the pretext of a car promotion event in Bathinda. On June 9, she left Ludhiana house, informing her mother that she was going to a promotional event. However, her family lost contact with her afterwards. Mehron, Jaspreet and Nimratjit reached Ludhiana from Moga the same day and they contacted Kanchan and called her to a place in Ludhiana, the SSP said on Sunday. After she arrived at the location Mehron sat in her car's backseat, while the other two travelled in their car. They had promised Kanchan to repair her car in a garage in Bathinda. On reaching Bathinda, Mehron, in a pre-planned conspiracy, shifted to his SUV and Nimratjit along with Kanchan went to the garage, the officer said. Mehron parked his SUV near a petrol pump and later started driving Kanchan's vehicle and all of them sat inside. At one point, they snatched her two mobile phones and Nimratjit and Jaspreet, both sitting at back seats, strangulated her to death. Later, Mehron left in Ranjit's car with another unknown accused while Jaspreet and Nimratjit took Kanchan's car along with her body to Adesh university and abandoned it there, they said. When they realised that the piece of cloth used to strangulate Kanchan had been left behind, they went there again to recover it. Her body was discovered when locals informed the police about a foul smell emanating from a car in the parking area near Adesh University. The body was brought to the civil hospital mortuary and her mother confirmed the identity the next day. A murder case was registered following a complaint registered by her mother, Girja Devi, the SSP said.

Influencer Kamal Kaur Bhabhi's murder: Police custody of two accused extended by 3 days
A city court has extended the police custody of two accused by three more days, in the murder case of Kanchan Kumari, popularly known as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi. Earlier, the Bathinda Police had secured two-day custody of the two accused -- Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh. Both men, belonging to Nihangs sect, an order in Sikhism identified with distinct blue robes and turbans -- were produced in the city court today, after expiry of two-day police remand. With the accused being resent into three-day police custody, the cops will interrogate the duo and seek to extract information about their third associate and the main conspirator -- Amritpal Singh Mehron, who still remains at large. Mehron, believed to be the main suspect accused in Kamal Kaur Bhabhi murder case has been absconding after committing the grave offence and is currently said to be hiding in Dubai. The murder case of social media influencer gained widespread attention after the body of Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Kaur Bhabhi was found inside a car in the parking lot, three days ago. The two accused -- Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh were arrested after the body of influencer was recovered from the car. Kamal Kaur Bhabhi was targeted by three Nihangs, for allegedly hurting the sentiments of Sikh community. According to police, the key mastermind Amritpal Singh Mehron plotted a plan to entrap and isolate the social media influencer and then killed her by strangulating inside the car, along with two of his associates - who were subsequently apprehended by the Bathinda police. Mehron has also released a video on social media, claiming responsibility for the act. In the now-viral video, Mehron alleges that the influencer brought bad name to Sikh tradition with her 'obscene and vulgar' content and hence was punished. In the video, he is also heard warning other content creators and vloggers on social media to desist from defiling their religious gurus else they all will meet the same fate as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi. 'Our Gurus have given us the surnames of 'Singh' and 'Kaur' and we cannot allow women from other states to suffix the title of Kaur. Khalsa never attacks women, but when a woman targets our Takhts and mocks Sikh values, we won't spare them," he is heard saying in the video.

In a dramatic new development in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, a woman in Uttar Pradesh has revealed that she travelled with the main accused, Sonam Raghuvanshi, on a bus just hours before her surrender in Ghazipur. In an interview with India Today TV, the key witness, Ujala Yadav, recounted how Sonam, visibly agitated, dismissed an Instagram video about the case as "nonsense" while sitting right next to Raghuvanshi, 29, and Sonam, 25, were married in Indore on May 11 and travelled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon. The couple went missing on May 23 from Sohra in the East Khasi Hills. Raja's body was discovered in a gorge on June 2. Sonam, her lover Raj Kushwaha, and three other accomplices - Vishal Chauhan, Anand Kurmi, and Akash Rajput - were arrested in connection with the a student from Ghazipur, provided a detailed account of her encounter with Sonam on the night of June 8. "I met Sonam at Varanasi Cantt station," she said. "She had her face covered with a dupatta and was with two men, one of whom had a white cloth wrapped around his face." Yadav, who was heading home, said that Sonam had asked her if any bus went to Gorakhpur or Ghazipur. Yadav directed Sonam to the bus stand. They ended up boarding the same bus from platform number 7, initially sitting sat with her head bowed and was also wearing a mask," Yadav recalled. After a male passenger vacated his seat, Yadav moved to sit beside the journey, a distressed Sonam asked for Yadav's phone, typed a number, but then erased it and returned the device without making a call. She also asked for water to splash on her most startling moment came when Yadav was watching an Instagram reel on her phone with earphones. The video featured Raja Raghuvanshi's grieving mother pleading for the safe return of her daughter-in-law. "I was watching the video and she said, 'What nonsense videos are you watching, don't watch them.' I turned it off after she objected," Yadav told India Today to Yadav, Sonam repeatedly inquired about the distance to Gorakhpur, suggesting it was her intended destination, not Ghazipur. Yadav alighted at her stop, while Sonam continued on the bus. Sonam later surfaced at the Kashi Dhaba near the Nandganj police station, where she was taken into custody in the early hours of June realised the identity of her fellow traveller the next morning after seeing news reports and photos of Sonam's surrender. "In the viral photo from the Dhaba, Sonam was wearing the same clothes she had on during the bus ride," she said.
