War of words begins as Jairam Thakur slams Jagat Singh Negi over ‘irresponsible statement'
More than two dozens of people have been killed and several missing following cloudburst incidents in Mandi district.
Referring to the alleged statement of Negi, in which he said 'when a tragedy struck in my area then I realised the pain of general public', Thakur said, 'there might be some personal differences between me and the minister but being a part of the state government, the Revenue Minister should not made such irresponsible statement. He should visit the disaster affected areas, especially Seraj'.
The LoP also urged CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to intervene in this matter. Thakur made these remarks during his interaction with media over certain issues including the transfer of a (executive engineer-) XEN-ranked official at Thunag in Mandi during the ongoing relief works. Thakur was in Mandi since July 1 and came to Shimla on Sunday.
Terming the accusations of Thakur 'baseless', Negi accused the former CM of misrepresenting the facts, statements of his opponents in the media.
'Jairam Thakur has some issues with me. His behavior was never appropriate towards me since he was the chief minister and I was in the Opposition. I have been performing my duties being the Revenue, Horticulture and Tribal minister successfully. The entire government is standing like a rock behind the people of Mandi including Seraj in this time of crisis,' the revenue minister said.
Meanwhile, addressing a press conference, Thakur also accused the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government of 'insensitivity' and 'inaction' in the wake of the recent disaster in Mandi. He claimed that an executive engineer who was doing commendable work on the ground was transferred under pressure from certain political leaders. 'Till date, no senior officer from the state government has been deputed in Mandi,' he alleged.
Thakur claimed that the government's indifference stems from the fact that the disaster occurred in his constituency. 'Recently, I received a call from the Panchayati Raj Minister suggesting that the Panchayati Raj Institute be shifted from Mandi. I challenge the government to show a single crack in that institute due to the disaster. Then why shift it?' he asked.

Shivakumar flays BJP over GST notices, urges withdrawal
Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has strongly criticised the BJP for issuing GST notices to small traders, saying, 'The BJP is trying to rub the banana peel on our nose after eating the banana themselves.' He made these remarks while speaking to the media near his residence in Sadashivanagar on Monday. Shivakumar clarified that the Central BJP government had, in 2019, set the annual turnover limit at ₹40 lakh and had directed all state governments to comply with this rule. 'The BJP should withdraw these harassing measures. Small traders including vegetable vendors, fruit sellers, tender coconut sellers, and flower sellers are now being targeted. Over 14,000 traders have already received notices,' he stated. He further added that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had earlier voiced strong opposition to the GST structure, and that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would be holding discussions with officials to explore ways to help the affected people. When asked if the state government would write to the Centre, Shivakumar confirmed, 'Definitely. Ours is the state that pays the highest GST in the country. Yet, our small and middle-class traders are being harassed. Justice must be ensured.' Responding to the PIL filed regarding the formation of five new municipal corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), he said, 'Anyone can raise objections – that's their right. YSRCP flays govt for pursuing ‘vindictive' politics
Nellore: YSR Congress Party MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy has alleged that the coalition government headed by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu was encouraging vindictive politics to divert the attention of people from its failures. In the wake of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) arresting Rajampet YSRCP MP Peddireddy Reddy Midhun Reddy, Chandrasekhar Reddy addressed a media conference at his camp office here on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, the MLC has pointed out that it has become common practice for the coalition government to arrest the YSRCP leaders if they raised queries over its failures in the administration. Chandrasekhar Reddy pointed out series of arrests of the YSRCP leaders like Kakani Govardhan Reddy, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Vallabhaneni Vamsi, Krishnamohan Reddy and Dhanunjaya Reddy etc during the past few months. The MLC alleged that the government which illegally confined former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy in jail by imposing 17 cases, now freshly targeted the Rajampet MP though he was in no way connected with the liquor policy. The MLC alleged that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu developed a personal grudge against ‚ Peddireddy's family as the TDP was wiped out in Chittoor district during 2019 elections. The MLC said the people of AP were silently watching the vindictive policies being implemented by the TDP-led government and they were waiting for appropriate time to teach a lesson.
