The
Chicago Bulls' bold gamble on Josh Giddey
has paid off in a major way—and now, the franchise faces a pivotal decision. After a breakout 2024-25 season, the 22-year-old Australian phenom is poised to secure a mammoth contract extension, with NBA insiders projecting a deal worth at least $120 million.
Josh Giddey's arrival via trade initially flew under the radar, but his rapid ascent into stardom has made him indispensable in Chicago. What began as a season of adjustment transformed into a showcase of his elite playmaking, rebounding, and scoring prowess—especially after the Chicago Bulls moved on from Zach LaVine. With Giddey's restricted free agency looming, the front office must now weigh a franchise-altering investment in a player who has proven he can carry the team's future.
From his near-triple-double surges to his vocal leadership, Josh Giddey has cemented himself as the Chicago Bulls' cornerstone. The question isn't whether they should pay him—it's whether they can afford not to.
Josh Giddey's Breakout Season With the Chicago Bulls
After arriving via trade, Josh Giddey quickly became a cornerstone for the
Chicago Bulls
. His stat line for the season—14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game—underscored his versatility. But his post-All-Star break performance was even more impressive:
- 21.2 points per game
- 10.7 rebounds per game
- 9.3 assists per game

The turning point? The
Zach LaVine
trade. Giddey acknowledged the shift, telling
Fox Sports Australia
: "The first half of the year it's a new situation, so naturally there's going to be an inclination to come in here and try to fit in. That was my initial mindset... But I think it took me a little while to find my feet, and obviously, trade deadline happened when Zach got moved... It kind of opened up avenues for other guys to step into. I saw that as an opportunity to take on a bigger responsibility." (H/t:

The $120 Million Question
Giddey enters restricted free agency this summer, giving the Bulls the right to match any offer. Fischer reports the 22-year-old is seeking a five-year deal worth no less than $120 million—roughly $30 million annually. Here's how his current and projected earnings stack up:
Earnings Period
Salary
2024-25 Season
$8.4 million
Projected New Deal
~$30 million/year
Fischer's analysis aligns with Giddey's rising value: "Sources say Philadelphia has ongoing confidence in its ability to re-sign Grimes, but let's see.

Ditto for the Chicago Bulls and Giddey coming to terms on the five-year pact that the Aussie playmaker is said to be seeking which is routinely projected to land at no less than $120 million."
Why the Chicago Bulls Must Keep Josh Giddey
With LaVine gone, Josh Giddey's role as a primary playmaker and scorer is undeniable. Key reasons Chicago should lock him up:
1. Post-Deadline Dominance: Nearly averaged a triple-double after LaVine's departure.
2. Youth and Upside: At 22, he's entering his prime.
3. Roster Stability: The Bulls lack young stars, making Giddey a core piece.
The front office faces pressure to secure Giddey long-term while navigating other offseason moves, including the NBA Draft. But one thing is clear: letting him walk isn't an option.

As Fischer's reporting suggests, the Bulls are likely preparing a hefty offer to ensure their rising star stays put. For a team in need of direction, Giddey represents both the present and the future.

HUL MD Rohit Jawa's salary rises to 23.23 crore in FY25; permanent workforce down 8.4%

Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) Managing Director Rohit Jawa's total remuneration rose by 3.75 per cent in FY25 to 23.23 crore, according to the company's latest annual report. Jawa's annual pay package included a salary of 3.65 crore, allowances of 11.45 crore, a bonus of 3.78 crore, and long-term incentive perquisites amounting to 2.76 crore, PTI reported. The report stated that Jawa's remuneration was 146.47 times more than the median remuneration of employees. In FY24, the ratio was higher at 153.03 times. Meanwhile, the number of permanent employees at the FMCG major fell by 8.46 per cent. HUL had 6,604 permanent employees on its rolls as of March 31, 2025, compared to 7,215 the previous year. The median remuneration of employees increased by 8.39 per cent in FY25. 'Average increase made in the salaries of employees other than the managerial personnel in the financial year was 4.62 per cent and does not include increase on account of promotions. Increase every year is an outcome of the company's market competitiveness as against its peer group companies as well as financial performance,' the annual report noted. Addressing shareholders, Jawa said FY25 saw a moderation in urban demand and a gradual recovery in rural consumption. 'Against this backdrop, we remained focussed on driving volume growth and strengthening competitiveness for the business,' he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo HUL Chairman Nitin Paranjpe said the company navigated a challenging operating environment, marked by uneven weather patterns, volatile commodity prices, and muted consumer demand. He added that India is 'well-poised to deliver strong and consistent growth with rising affluence, a burgeoning middle class, a vibrant young working population empowered by a strong public digital backbone and growth-oriented policies.' 'Economic development, technological advancements and a better quality of life have fuelled the aspirations of our consumers. These new dynamics present a significant opportunity for the FMCG sector,' he said. Paranjpe said HUL is witnessing a rapid evolution of the Indian consumer due to greater digital access and information. 'We are building a robust portfolio for future growth, by sharpening our 'where to play' choices. In line with this, we announced the acquisition of premium science-backed beauty brand, Minimalist. This acquisition is in line with our vision to become the beauty shapers of India,' he said. In FY25, HUL also divested its water business, Pureit, and announced the decision to demerge its ice cream division, which includes brands such as Kwality Wall's, Cornetto and Magnum. "Who Would've Thought...": Jasprit Bumrah Opens Up On Olympic Dreams

India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah recently shared candid insights into the challenges of playing across formats, maintaining physical fitness, and his excitement about cricket's inclusion in the Olympics. Speaking to former Australian captain Michael Clarke on the Beyond23 Cricket Podcast, Bumrah reflected on his journey, the evolving demands of international cricket, and his approach to the future. Acknowledging the physical toll of playing all three formats, Bumrah admitted that managing workload has become increasingly important. "Yeah, it is obviously tough for any individual to keep playing everything," Bumrah said. "I've been doing it for a while, but eventually you have to understand where your body is going and which tournament is more important. So you have to be a little selective and smart about how you use your body," he added. Despite the rigours of modern cricket, Bumrah remains driven by passion. "As a cricketer, I would never want to leave anything. I always want to keep going. Right now, I'm okay physically, but I don't set goals or I don't look at myself as if this is the number that I should be at and this is the time. I take things one day at a time," he said. The 31-year-old fast bowler emphasised that he's learnt to listen to his body and not force expectations. "The journey is going good so far. The day I realise the drive is gone, or the effort isn't there, or my body isn't holding up--that's when I'll take a call, but right now I'm okay," he noted. Bumrah also expressed his excitement about cricket being included in the Olympics, something he never imagined when he began his career. "I've heard cricket is coming to the Olympics, and that's something I'm really looking forward to. Who would've thought? It's very exciting. I'm looking forward to that whenever we get an opportunity to do," he added. He concluded with a grounded perspective on his career and life. "I don't set goals anymore because every time I have, I haven't been able to fulfil them. I try to enjoy the game because that's why I started playing it in the first place. I take it one day at a time and collect memories because at the end of it all, that's what I'll remember," he said.

Ricky Ponting Back Arshdeep Singh's Inclusion For 1st England Test: "If India Don't..."

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting believes left-arm fast-bowler Arshdeep Singh should be included in India's playing eleven for their upcoming Test series against England, starting on June 20 in Leeds. Arshdeep has been a mainstay in India's T20I team with 99 wickets in just 63 games. In first-class matches, Arshdeep has picked 66 wickets in 21 games. Ponting has also had a chance to have a close look at Arshdeep (18 scalps) by being his head coach at Punjab Kings, who are now in the playoffs of IPL 2025, and will face off against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1 at Mullanpur on Thursday. 'I've had a good chance to get to know him really well. He's a great character to have around the team. He's a fun-loving guy. He's very laid-back around the group, which is great. Which is what we all like,' said Ponting on The ICC Review show. 'As soon as the squad was announced the other day, the Test squad, the first thing I did in our team meeting was to make sure that I acknowledged that Arshdeep had been picked in front of everybody and just congratulated him in front of everybody.' 'I think it's well deserved. I think he'll bowl well in England as well. I would actually have him in their Test team at the start. He's very skillful. I think the Duke's ball will help him in the UK as well. And I just think to have that point of difference, having a left-armer in your team, I think will be something that, if India don't do it, then it'll be a bit of a surprise to me," added the former Australia captain. Arshdeep also had a stint in the County Championship with Kent in 2023, picking 13 wickets in five matches, with his best bowling figures being 3-58. 'He's played county cricket and he knows the conditions there as well.' 'Arshdeep is close to six-foot-four, so he's going to get decent we know in England, the ball still swings when it is 30, 40 or 50 overs old. To have someone that's got that swing bowling ability and a left-armer, I think is something that the Indian team should definitely look out for on that tour.' Quizzed on his process behind taking PBKS to the playoffs for the first time since 2014, in what is also Ponting's first season as their coach, the legendary Australian batter elaborated on the three principles he brought to the franchise. 'The three keywords that I brought this year were being different, being daring, and being dynamic.' 'That's not just the playing group, that's through the whole organisation. The inclusion thing for me is always a big one. We've got not just about 25 players here. We've got over 100 people who are hopefully all on the same journey together. We're heading in the same direction, and me making them feel a part of the journey is a bit of the reason why we're all here.' 'It's just the end of the qualifying rounds and the big stuff is yet to come, but so far cricket's been very, very good. It's been a fun time to be around the team. And I'm looking forward to what the next few weeks bring,' he concluded. Listen to the latest songs, only on
