The makers of Kantara A Legend: Chapter 1released a behind-the-scenes video to announce that the filming for the highly-anticipated prequel has been wrapped up. Directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Hombale Films, the pan-Indian film, originally made in Kannada, will hit the screens worldwide on October 02, 2025.
Rishab, who stars as the lead in the movie, says in the video that it was his dream to tell the story of his land to the world. 'Thousands of people supported me in the three-year journey of this movie. After 250-days of shooting for Kantara A Legend: Chapter 1, it's a wrap,' he says in the BTS video.
The actor-director thanks his producer, Vijay Kiragandur from Hombale Films, for his support, and his entire team for their efforts. 'Kantara A Legend: Chapter 1 is not a movie, it's a divine force,' says Rishab. The movie is a prequel to Kantara, the sensational 2022 blockbuster.
The video begins with Rishab working out in the gym, revealing his toned body for the magnum opus. Rishab is seen practicing several ancient martial art forms, including Kalaripayattu.

The making video hints at a devotional period drama mounted on a grand scale. Rishab is seen closely working with cinematographer Arvind Kashyap and popular Hollywood action choreographer Todor Lazarov.
Ajaneesh Loknath is the music composer for the movie while Pragathi Shetty is the costume designer. Rishab has written the film with co-writers Anirudh Mahesh and Shanil Gowtham. Dharani Gangepura is the art director and Banglan is the production designer.
In recent times, the prequel had been in the news for wrong reasons. Actors from the film, Kalabhavan Niju and Rakesh Poojary died of heart attacks while junior artist MF Kapil drowned in Souparnika river. Apart from these deaths, a boat carrying the crew members of the movie capsized in June. All the members in the boat escaped unheart.

Kantara starred Rishab, Sapthami Gowda, Kishore and Achyuth Kumar in prominent roles. The movie revolved around Shiva and Deputy Range Forest officer Murali, who are on the same page on issues concerning the protection of native culture and environment, but the paths they choose are different.
