"Based on the input, a decoy customer and panch witness were deployed to the spot, and the team successfully intercepted the woman during the act," said a police officer.

During the raid, a 22-year-old woman was rescued, who is believed to have been forced into prostitution. The accused was allegedly operating the racket for several months, targeting vulnerable women and supplying them to clients in and around Thane and Kalyan.
The arrested woman has been booked under relevant sections of the BNS act and the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA). The rescued woman has been placed in a govt-run shelter home, and further rehabilitation efforts are underway.
Police are now investigating if the woman was part of a larger trafficking network and are working to identify additional victims and clients linked to the racket, said a police officer.

Two men who stole ₹12.4 lakh from an ATM in Jassipura, Ghaziabad on July 24 were arrested on Saturday, police said, adding that the accused are ATM technicians and spent two months planning the crime. Sonu is an ATM technician with a service-providing company. As part of their plan, Sonu broke the lock dialer of the ATM on purpose. When the lock had to be replaced, Sonu himself was sent by his company to fix it. During the repair, he intentionally left some screws loose. Then, on July 18, the other accused Suraj, who works with a different service-providing company, came on a bike and sprayed black paint on the CCTV camera inside the ATM room. On July 19, Sonu arrived again and snapped the wires of the CCTV camera. On July 24, they arrived in the morning on a bike, pulled out cash from the ATM, and fled,' the officer added. The accused allegedly told police that they divided the ₹12.4 lakh equally between themselves. An FIR was registered under BNS sections 331(4) (house-trespass or housebreaking) and 305 (theft) against unidentified persons at Kotwali police station based on a complaint by executives of the company that operates the ATM. 'In CCTV footage from near a flyover, we saw the accused calling someone from their cellphone. We conducted in electronic surveillance to learn about the caller and tracked down the accused,' said an officer associated with the case. The accused were arrested from near the Vijay Nagar flyover in Ghaziabad, police said.

Jharkhand man trafficked to US via ‘donkey route' helps police bust trafficking ring
Jharkhand Police on Saturday busted an international human trafficking network accused of deceiving individuals with promises of illegal entry into the United States through the dangerous and illegal 'donkey route'. The operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals, including the alleged mastermind, after a trafficking survivor filed a formal 'donkey route' is a term used to describe an illegal method of migration that bypasses official immigration processes. It involves long, hazardous journeys through multiple countries, often arranged by unlicensed travel agents and is frequently used by those attempting to reach destinations like the US, UK or The case came to light after Sonu Kumar, a resident of Bharajo village under Tatijharia Police Station in Hazaribagh district, filed a complaint on July 30. He accused Uday Kumar Kushwaha, a villager who has reportedly been living in the United States for over four decades, of trafficking him under the guise of offering employment in to police, in 2024, Sonu was allegedly sent to Brazil using fake documents. After arrival, he was handed over to a human smuggling syndicate, along with two other victims, namely Bikash Kumar and Pintu Kumar, who were also sent via Brazil from Delhi on separate dates. The traffickers reportedly attempted to move them illegally across a series of countries: Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras and Guatemala, before reaching the was kept in the custody of the traffickers for 50 days. During this time, Uday Kumar Kushwaha allegedly extorted Rs 45 lakh from Sonu's family. Under pressure, his father sold ancestral property to raise the money, which was then sent to associates of Uday through various eventually reached San Diego via Mexico City but was caught by US border authorities and detained for nearly four months before being deported to India in March 2025. After his return, Sonu's attempts to recover the money were allegedly met with threats and assault by Uday and his brother. Fearing for his safety, Sonu lodged a formal complaint under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).Acting on the complaint, the Hazaribagh Superintendent of Police formed a special task force led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Bishrugarh. The operation led to the arrest of five accused: Uday Kumar Kushwaha, Darshan Prasad, Lal Mohan Prasad, Chohan Prasad and Shankar the investigation, police recovered phones, documents, bank receipts and a notebook containing details of money collected and individuals trafficked. 500 CCTV feeds examined, locals questioned: Weeks after man killed over ‘suspicion of affair, 2 arrested
On the morning of July 11, a banana vendor spotted a man lying unconscious along Surajkund Road and called the police. Responding to the call, a police team reached the location and found the body that could not be identified. Twelve separate teams were formed by Southeast District Police to piece together what had happened. Around 500 CCTV feeds from MB Road, Surajkund Road, and Sangam Vihar were examined, said police. Locals and passersby were questioned, but it took weeks for police to nab two men linked to a murder case. During questioning, Venkatesh, the key accused, allegedly admitted that he suspected Rakesh, the victim, of having an illicit relationship with his wife. He also claimed to have lent money to Rakesh multiple times, which was never returned. The motive, according to police, was a mix of jealousy and financial resentment. Gaurav, the other accused who helped him, was also nabbed. 'An idea from a senior officer was received regarding the comparison of fingerprints. After analysis by the Fingerprint Bureau in Rampura, the identity of the deceased was confirmed as Rakesh (35 years), a resident of Ambedkar Camp in Madangir. Upon local enquiry in Madangir area, it was disclosed that the victim worker as a painter,' said DCP South East Hemant Tiwari. Following a post-mortem, a case was registered on Friday under sections 103(1) and 238(a) of the BNS. During the police's review of CCTV footage from Madangir, one frame showed a man wearing the same shirt as the deceased. Ground verification led to the identification of Gaurav (25), a resident of Madangir. Under sustained questioning, Gaurav revealed that the deceased had been assaulted by his associate, Vanketesh. 'A raid was conducted at the house of Vankatesh…and an eye witness Ritik Diwakar (24) was questioned. In sustained questioning, he said that his father-in-law Vankatesh and Gaurav had beaten the deceased at the house…by belt, plastic rod and later punched and kicked him and hit his head on the wall forcibly,' said DCP Tiwari. Based on this account, both Gaurav and Venkatesh were arrested on Friday. The investigators later recovered the autorickshaw that was used to transport and dump Rakesh's body near the Karni Singh Shooting Range. The belt and plastic rod used in the assault were also seized as evidence. Venkatesh, 47, has a previous case under the Excise Act registered at Ambedkar Nagar police station, while Gaurav has a past record under the Arms Act at the same police station, said police.
