Driver who sped to 96mph before crash killing Lincolnshire teens jailed
Natasha Allarakhia was 'literally drinking and driving' before she smashed her Audi Q2 into the back of a stationary Ford Fiesta on the A17 Newark Road in North Rauceby, near Sleaford in Lincolnshire, killing William Ray, 17, and 18 year-old Eddie Shore.
Two other passengers in the car were taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham following the incident on 20 June last year.
Lincoln Crown Court heard the 36-year-old lied to police at the scene for more than an hour about who had been driving while her two young daughters, who had been in the back of her car, were present.
The court heard how the group of friends had a 'pleasant evening' watching football and that William had applied the handbrake and footbrake at the temporary traffic lights that evening.
It's believed Ms Allarakhia was driving at speeds in excess of 90mph and crashed into the back of William's car at around 70mph.
The cause of death for both teenagers was head injuries, while one of the two teenagers in the back of the car also suffered severe injuries to his hip.
In June, Natasha Allarakhia, from Norwich, pleaded guilty to causing the deaths of Will and Eddie by dangerous driving and causing serious injury to one of the passengers.
At Lincoln Crown Court today, 18 August, she was jailed for 10 years and from today is disqualified from driving for more than 12 years. She must then take an extended re-test.
Mr Shore's mother Kerri Foster said: 'Everybody loved Eddie. He's gone and I'm heartbroken. I yearn for him constantly and remember all the special things about him. He was my baby boy.'
William's mother Sarah Barker said: 'Will was such a caring, conscientious and compassionate person. Will has always been by my side, it's like part of my identity died with Will.'

The force confirmed two days after the crash that two women, aged in their 80s and 90s had died. The blue BMW had been pursued by officers on the A1231 when it crashed into the home, which cares for dementia sufferers. It followed reports of a car being stolen in Newcastle around 20 minutes before the crash. After a short pursuit, the BMW struck the Highcliffe Care Home. Pictures revealed a gaping hole in the side of the nursing home - which cares for around 60 residents. Upturned furniture could be seen among shattered bricks and broken glass inside while rubble also littered the ground outside the home. Reece Parish, of Fordham Road, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court via a videolink and admitted stealing the motor. The 21-year-old denied a kidnap charge relating to a woman who was in the BMW 3-series when he and co-accused Sam Asgari-Tabar took it for a test drive. Christopher Knox, for Parish, said the defendant was "regretful and apologetic" about the tragedy. He told them: "You have both very sensibly pleaded guilty to these matters and you will be given credit for that from the sentencing judge in due course." At the time of the crash, Asgari-Tabar was subject to a suspended sentence imposed in May, the court heard. The Crown Prosecution Service indicated that it will not proceed with the kidnap charges against the pair and those alleged offences will lie on file. After the hearing, Chief Superintendent Mark Hall, of Northumbria Police, said: "This was a shocking incident in one of our communities - the actions of both men that night were incredibly reckless. "I am pleased the swift and diligent work of all involved in our investigation left them with no choice but to admit their guilt at court." A spokesperson for Avery Healthcare, which runs the home, said: "We are deeply saddened by the incident at our home in Sunderland and our thoughts are with all those affected. "We are committed to supporting our residents, their families, and our dedicated staff during this incredibly difficult time. "We are immensely grateful for the compassion and professionalism our teams have shown and continue to show. Man who launched brutal attack on love rival at wake jailed
Adrian Degg, 47, kicked his victim unconscious outside a wake after accusing of him of sleeping with his ex-wife. A businessman has been jailed after he launched a brutal assault on a man he believed had slept with his ex-wife – punching and kicking him unconscious outside a wake. Adrian Degg, 47, set upon his victim outside The Cottage pub in Oakhill, Stoke-on-Trent, in December 2022. Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard the businessman punched the man in the face, knocking him to the ground, before returning to kick him in the head 'with some force' as he lay unconscious. The victim suffered two fractures to his jaw, needed metal plates inserted during surgery and has since been plagued by infections and ongoing health problems. He later described the attack as 'cowardly and vicious' and said it left him jobless, homeless and struggling with depression. Degg, of Newcastle, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm and was sentenced to 27 months behind bars, reports StokeonTrentLive. Prosecutor Hunter Gray told the court: 'The defendant swung his arm, connecting with the victim's face, who fell unconscious to the floor. The defendant then kicked him directly to the face. When asked what happened, he said, 'He slept with my ex-wife.'' The victim told how the assault has had devastating consequences, leaving him unable to eat properly and contributing to a decline in his health. In a statement, Degg claimed he felt threatened and insisted he had only struck the victim with 'not much force.' Defence lawyer Paul Cliff argued that Degg, who runs a successful construction business, had stayed out of trouble for two decades and that prison would have a severe impact on his employees and family. He urged the judge to consider a suspended sentence. But Judge Richard McConaghy said only immediate custody was appropriate. He told Degg: 'You hit him in the face, knocking him unconscious, then kicked him directly to the face. This was a revenge attack. You broke his jaw in two places, leaving him with ongoing complications. 'You are a hardworking man and have stayed out of trouble for 20 years, but your offending is so serious that only a prison sentence can follow.'

Blackwood wine drinker led police on high-speed chase
Thomas Buchanan, 32, from Blackwood sped at 70mph in a 30mph residential zone before he was boxed in by officers in the Nelson area of Caerphilly. He also drove the wrong way around a roundabout and turned his lights off during the five-minute pursuit in the early hours of the morning. After hitting a police car, he made a run for it from his Vauxhall Corsa before he tumbled over and was arrested, Cardiff Crown Court heard. He was chased from Mountain Ash in Rhondda Cynon Taf before being caught in Nelson, prosecutor Elin Morgan. (Image: Thomas Buchanan) Buchanan, of Millbrook Road, Pontllanfraith admitted dangerous driving with the incident occurring on Saturday, August 3, 2024. The defendant has 21 previous convictions for 47 offences and these include dangerous driving, drug driving and driving whilst disqualified. He was handed a suspended prison sentence last November for a bizarre attempted burglary in Pontllanfraith. Buchanan, also known as Thomas Bowden, tried to break into a stranger's house by using a brick after drinking four of five bottles of Lambrini. The court heard on that occasion that when the police arrived to arrest him, he was so drunk he couldn't stand up. He was jailed for jailed for 21 months, suspended for 24 months, ordered to complete a 24-day rehabilitation activity requirement and made the subject of a 12-month alcohol treatment requirement. Abdallah Barakat representing the probation service said Buchanan was in breach of the suspended sentence after failing to comply with the rehabilitation activity requirement. Kevin Seal for the father-of-three said his client drinks four or five bottles a day after overcoming a heroin addiction. His barrister asked that the defendant be given the full one-third credit for his guilty plea to dangerous driving. Judge Eugene Egan told Buchanan: 'This was extreme dangerous driving in my view. 'You deliberately sought to avoid the police and you exposed others to the risk of significant injury or worse.' Buchanan was jailed for 12 months for the dangerous driving and the judge activated a prison term of 18 months for being in breach of the suspended sentence last year. That latter portion was imposed consecutively, making a total imprisonment term of 30 months. The defendant was disqualified from driving for four years following his release from custody and he must sit an extended retest.
