#SHOWBIZ: Salamiah listens to late husband's voice note when she misses him
"Whenever the longing is unbearable, usually after performing my prayers, I listen to it.
"Among other things, the recording contains his confession of love for me and the greeting, 'Assalamualaikum,' which was among his favourite words," she said in a Berita Harian report today.
Salamiah added she had considered deleting the note, but decided against it to preserve the memory of her late husband, Gerald Hughes.
"There was a moment I wanted to delete it," she explained, "but then I thought, 'If I delete it, I won't be able to hear his voice anymore.' However, I don't listen to it too often, as it could also break my heart."
Salamiah and Hughes married in a ceremony in Tasmania, Australia, on Sept 1, 2022. He passed away from cancer two months later.
This was Salamiah's second marriage, and Hughes was a widower with three children.
Previously, Salamiah was married to the late Raja Haron Raja Aziz. They divorced in 1986.
Her ex-husband passed away on July 28, 2022, due to heart disease and Parkinson's.
Salamiah has two children, Raja Putri Atilia, 51, and Raja Ahmad Shah, 46, from her first marriage.
