How to watch 'Rick and Morty' Season 8: Channel, premiere date, where to stream and more
The Emmy-winning animated series Rick and Morty is back for its eighth season this weekend. The irreverent series about a mad scientist and his grandson's adventures across the universe will premiere on Adult Swim on Sunday, May 25 at 11 p.m. ET with the first of 10 new episodes that will drop weekly through July 27. The series, which stars Ian Cardoni, Harry Belden, Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell, and Spencer Grammer will also be airing in over 170 countries, so whether you're in the U.S. or abroad, here's everything you need to know about how to watch Rick and Morty Season 8 when it premieres on Sunday, and how to watch it with the help of a VPN if you don't have cable.
Season 8 of Rick and Morty will premiere on Sunday, May 25 at 11 p.m. ET.
Rick and Morty airs on Adult Swim. After an entire season is finished airing, it will eventually stream on HBO Max.
There are several ways you can watch Rick and Morty without cable. Adult Swim is available on several platforms, including DirecTV, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV and YouTube TV. Warner Bros. Discovery has also confirmed that episodes will be available to stream in the U.S. on Max, but not until Sept. 1.
While the new season of Rick and Mortys won't be immediately available on Max (you'll have to wait until it arrives on Sept. 1), you can catch the past seven seasons on demand on the platform now.
If you don't have cable but still want to stream Season 8 of Rick and Morty as new episodes are released, all it takes is a VPN. By using a VPN, you can access new episodes of Rick and Morty when they air in other countries and stream them on demand after they premiere. Just note that the premiere dates may vary. For example, it's scheduled to debut June 1 in the U.K. on Channel 4's My4, and May 26 on the Australian version of HBO Max (though you'll still need your US HBO subscription to watch it). Just set your VPN location to the U.K. or Australia, respectively.
A VPN (virtual private network) helps protect your data, can mask your IP address and is perhaps most popular for being especially useful in the age of streaming. Whether you're looking to watch Friends on Netflix (which left the U.S. version of the streamer back in 2019) or tune in to overseas broadcasts, a VPN can help you out. Looking to try a VPN for the first time? This guide breaks down the best VPN options for every kind of user.

Audra McDonald reveals fan followed her after 'Gypsy' show: 'Messing with my safety'
Audra McDonald is setting boundaries. The Tony-winning actress, 55, took to Instagram to call out a fan who she said followed her after a recent performance of "Gypsy" on Broadway. McDonald said the person "snuck around and found" her while she was leaving the theater and followed her "all the way to where I was staying." They then came into the building and got "uncomfortably close" to her, she said. The "Gilded Age" star said that after she got security to step in, the fan complained that they had traveled a long way to see her and "felt that they deserved" an autograph. "That is crossing a big old boundary," she said. "I just want to call that out. That's a big no-no. That's now messing with my safety. It's not right." 'Gypsy' review: Audra McDonald gives a performance for the ages in a knockout revival McDonald shared the story after explaining why she has not been coming out to greet fans at the stage door after performances of "Gypsy." She noted that it's important for her to "conserve what little (vocal) energy I have" after a show, and she also needs to get home to her child. Other actors may not come out to greet fans because of their anxiety, she said. Regardless of the reason, McDonald urged followers to let actors be and respect their boundaries when they're leaving the theater after a stage performance. "When you see an actor leave the stage door, if they don't stop, leave them alone," she said. "There is a reason that they're not stopping, and it has nothing to do with you. It's them protecting their space and peace, whatever that may be." The Broadway legend has been starring in a revival of "Gypsy" since 2024 and earned a Tony nomination for her performance as Rose. The show was also nominated for best revival of a musical at the Tonys. It had its final performance on Sunday, Aug. 17. McDonald received support from fellow actors in the comments of her video, including from Tony winner Kecia Lewis. The "Hell's Kitchen" star said it was "very kind" of McDonald to share her reasoning for not coming out to greet fans at the stage door. 'Gypsy' star Joy Woods dishes on her Tony Award nomination and advice from Audra McDonald "I hope people watch (the video) and understand that after 2.5 hours of stage time, and an hour or more of prep before performing, and giving 200% of your whole body, soul and spirit to an audience, to then feel that you DESERVE more, is the devil's work," Lewis commented.

The ‘final nail' that ‘severed' Troy Aikman's relationship with Cowboys coach Barry Switzer
Troy Aikman can pinpoint the exact moment his already-strained relationship with Cowboys head coach Barry Switzer passed the point of no return during their second campaign together in 1995. When reflecting on his rocky rapport with Switzer in the newly released Netflix docuseries 'America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys,' which examined the Cowboys' rise and their controversies in the 1990s, the Hall of Fame quarterback recalled a meeting with Switzer following a Week 14 loss to Washington, when Aikman allegedly chewed out wide receiver Kevin Williams over dropped passes, culminating in an accusation from Jimmy Johnson's successor that put the 'final nail' in their relationship. Advertisement 'He said, 'There are some players that are saying that you only yell at Black players,' is what he … is what he said… and I said, 'That's bulls–t. If a player's not doing what he's supposed to do, I didn't give two s–ts as to what color he was.' I mean, I was upset,' Aikman said in episode six of the series, which dropped Tuesday on the streaming platform. 6 Cowboys coach Barry Switzer and quarterback Troy Aikman in October 1995. Getty Images Switzer, who replaced Johnson as coach of the Cowboys in a league-wide shocker a season prior, said he was 'really bothered' by what Aikman allegedly relayed to Williams, who is Black. Advertisement 'I said, 'You know, what was said really bothered me, and I think you really need to apologize. I think it's important that you do that,'' Switzer said. Aikman, long frustrated with Switzer's relaxed coaching style, remarked that the Switzer he knew at Oklahoma — where he played from 1984-85 before transferring to UCLA — was not the same man who arrived in Dallas in 1994. 6 Quarterback Troy Aikman had grown frustrated with Barry Switzer's coaching style. Getty Images 'I went to Oklahoma with a coach who was pretty intense. He was every bit as intense as Jimmy,' Aikman said of Johnson, with whom he won two Super Bowls in 1992 and '93. '… But the Barry that came to Dallas, he was totally different.' Advertisement The remaining ties Aikman had with Switzer, who stated the pair 'started to have problems' because the quarterback wanted his coach 'to be Jimmy,' were 'severed' after that fateful exchange. 'I think Barry thought that I would just accept that and then just go on down the road. Of course, whether it was [wide receiver] Michael [Irvin] of [defensive end Charles] Haley or any of the others, I mean, they said it was a bunch of BS as well,' Aikman said. '… That was the final nail that severed our relationship.' 6 Barry Switzer on the sidelines as Cowboys coach. 10.5.97 Advertisement 6 Switzer was hired to replace Jimmy Johnson, the Cowboys' two-time Super Bowl-winning coach. NFL Irvin and Haley, who both appeared in the docuseries, vouched for Aikman, 58. 'S–t, if Troy was a racist, me and him would've had problems a long time ago,' Haley, 61, said while Irvin, 59, expressed, 'There's a lot of places you wanna go, you go. But this … this is not one you can even go anywhere near Troy with.' As the Cowboys continued their climb to the NFL mountaintop — with splashy free-agent signing Deion Sanders along for the ride this time — tensions were rising within the team. 'Before, it was us against the world, and now, the against us was inside our locker room,' Irvin said. 6 Barry Switzer, here with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, coached the team for four seasons. In the lead-up to the big game, a story in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram outlined the fracture between Aikman and Switzer, including racial allegations made against the star quarterback. Advertisement 'The biggest regret I have with the Cowboys was my relationship with Troy,' Switzer said. 'All I wanted to do was make us better. But at this point in time, there wasn't anything to talk about. We have to overcome it, and we have to move on from it. We can't reschedule the season.' With a third Super Bowl title in four seasons on the line, conflicts were put aside for 60 minutes as the Cowboys mounted a thrilling 27-17 victory. 6 Jerry Jones and Barry Switzer won a Super Bowl together at the conclusion of the 1995 season.
