Jesy Nelson's surprising nod to Little Mix in twins' names and sweet meaning
Jesy Nelson's choice of names for her twin daughters have strong meanings with a link to both the future and past
Jesy Nelso has appeared to make a surprising nod to one of her former Little Mix bandmembers as she shared the adorable names of her tiny twin daughters.
The singer, 33, has lived in hospital for the past ten weeks with partner Zion Foster to keep their babies safe and today revealed that she has given birth after an induced labour.
The Mirror understands doctors had planned to induce Jesy's labour once the twins were deemed big and strong enough around the 32 week stage.
Sharing photos of both herself and Zion cradling their daughters, she told her followers that it "all happened so quickly" and that they were "healthy and fighting strong".
She added: "We've never felt more in love. Everybody meet Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster. Born on 15.05.2025."
The name Ocean, derived from the Greek word keanós, is often associated with power and mystery, but can also be seen as a symbol of new beginnings and hope. Coupling that with the middle name Jade - also the name of one of her former band mates - could potentially be seen as an olive branch to her former friend.
Jesy famously distanced herself from Jade Thirlwall, Perie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock after she quit the band in 2020.
Her choice of name for her other daughter Story draws a connection with creativity, imagination and adventure. It's derived from Old Norse storr, meaning 'large' or 'big'. Her middle name Monroe is of Scottish and Irish Gaelic origin and is a gender-neutral name, meaning mouth of the River Roe, referring to a specific river in Northern Ireland. There's also an edge of Hollywood glamour to it as Marilyn Monroe is naturally attached to the name.
Jesy has documented her difficult and emotional pregnancy for fans over the last few months.
Jesy had emergency surgery in April after the babies developed twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome - a rare condition which could have been fatal for one or both twins.
After her operation, Jesy said: 'We feel so grateful and blessed that these little babies are still going strong,'
And thankfully the twins progress has been positive throughout the remainder of the pregnancy.
In May Jesy had posted black and white photos of herself with a giant bump and new scans of her twins. She wrote: 'Muma Nelson and Papa Foster' and added a heart emoji. In another set of photos she dubbed Zion 'my husband'.
She has been dating Zion, from South London, since November 2022 and in May he ran the London Marathon to raise money for the Twins Trust, which offers support to families with twins.
Speaking in the only interview during her pregnancy, Zion had said of the twins: 'They're giving us so much hope they're going to come out healthy.
"Jesy and the twins have come through so much. There were so many times in this pregnancy we didn't think we'd get to where we are now.
''Their strength has been unmatched. We literally feel like we know them already just because of how much they've overcome.
'Their characters are so strong. They're so brave.'

90s Glasgow band back with new album of 'covers and collaborations'
'Being asked to tour Hungary as part of a Scottish contingent for the British Arts Council in 1996,' she says, 'and performing as part of a Creeping Bent Organisation label night at John Peel's Meltdown in 1998.' 'At the first, the audiences were pretty hard core, which The Seret Goldfish definitely is not. The trip is immortalised in the song 4 Excited People." She adds: 'The second was a spectacular night, which included performances by Adventures in Stereo, The Leopards and a brief appearance by Vic Godard, and it was brilliantly compered by the much missed poet, Jock Scot.' The Secret Goldfish will be launching their fourth album, Empty Holster, at a special showcase on June 21 in Glasgow's Glad Café. Ex-Orange Juice guitarist James Kirk will be performing with the band and The Cords will be appearing as special guests. The Secret Goldfish BBC presenter Nicola Meighan will be interviewing Katy about 30 years of The Secret Goldfish, her early music career with the Fizzbombs, and her memoir of music and family, Matilda in the Middle. Nicola will also be interviewing Katy's husband, the musician and songwriter Douglas MacIntyre, about three decades of running The Creeping Bent Organisation record label, which is closing down at the end of the year. Katy Lironi and her husband Douglas MacIntyre (Image: Colin Mearns/Newsquest) Empty Holster has been many years in the gestation, explains Katy, who has been collating songs by her favourite songwriters since 1996. The album tracks have been recorded sporadically over recent decades and were finally completed at Green Door studio in Glasgow and mastered by Samuel Joseph Smith. 'Why now? Well, this is the final year of operation for CBO and I am someone who needs a deadline,' she laughs. 'I guess the planets have just aligned and this is its moment.' It is a record of covers – Holiday Hymn by Subway Sect's Vic Godard, Get on Board by James Kirk and tracks by The Shop Assistants and The Beach Boys – and collaborations, including Adventures in Stereo's Jim Beattie and Davy Henderson of Fire Engines and The Sexual Objects fame. It includes an impressive array of musical guest appearances, including Mick Slaven of The Bluebells, Campbell Owens of Aztec Camera, Francis Macdonald of Teenage Fanclub and Katy and Douglas's daughter Amelia Lironi, of up-and-coming funk-popsters QUAD90. QUAD90 (Image: Chris Hogge) There is also a new song on the album, says Katy. 'Louche Life is a song we wrote with James Kirk and it seemed to fit with the overall spirit of collaboration of the album,' she explains. 'I love working with James because you never quite know what direction he'll take or what lyrics he'll sing. 'We appeared on Marc Riley's 6 Music show a few years ago and James rewrote a whole load of lyrics in the car on the way down to Manchester for the session.' Katy adds: 'Collaboration is the root of all the very best creativity and it also brings out the best in us. 'To have my absolutely favourite songwriters and artists on this album is magical - perfectly topped off by singing in tandem with my daughter Amelia, who was still space-dust when the earliest songs on the album were initially recorded. 'It's fairly surreal.' Katy's book, Matilda in the Middle, is a memoir of music and family. Choir 21 (Image: Ginger Horticulture) 'It's largely about how important music is the lives of many in the Downs syndrome community, my own daughter Matilda included,' she says. 'Bringing out the book has been a highlight of the last year for me and being able to take it to so many festivals has been an amazing experience. 'I've really enjoyed introducing the audiences to Choir 21, the Makaton choir of teens and adults with Ds that I run in my role with Downs syndrome Scotland. 'We took a small contingent from Choir 21 down to the DSS garden at the Chelsea flower show last month. 'We performed an original song, Our Chelsea Anthem, co-written with Douglas and Ken McCluskey of The Bluebells, who are our patrons.' She adds, smiling: 'It was an amazing experience for our young people and Chelsea didn't know what had hit it.' The release of the Empty Holster does not mark the end of The Secret Goldfish – far from it, says Katy. 'There's always another album in the making,' she says. 'And we are always open to touring. When CBO finally comes to a close, we expect to have loads of time between work and family, to fill with more musical adventures.' The Secret Goldfish are at the Glad Café on June 21.

The Burning Down the House hitmaker hasn't played live since his American Utopia tour - which was hailed by critics as one of the best live shows of all time. An online blurb for his latest tour reads: "In 2023, as his triumphant American Utopia era came to a close after morphing from an album and tour into an acclaimed Broadway show and then a Spike Lee-directed HBO film, David Byrne began jotting down the occasional groove, chord or melody. It had been a minute." The world tour comes as the iconic musician releases his first new album since 2018, titled Who is the Sky? The record was produced by Grammy-winning Kid Harpoon, who has worked with industry icons including Harry Styles and Miley Cyrus. Meanwhile members of New York-based chamber ensemble Ghost Train Orchestra helped arrange 12 tracks on the album. Byrne will be in Glasgow next year on Friday 6 March and Saturday 7 March. Briefs are priced from £42.25 for seats near the back of the venue to £180 for front row seats. Tickets for the gigs go on sale at 10am on Friday 13 June. It comes days after Byrne's Talking Heads teased fans with a possible reunion. Moment Sabrina Carpenter's tour bus arrives at Glasgow hotel as fans queue outside Hydro The US rockers posted a video on social media showing the moon at night and the sun emerging from clouds with the date June 5, 2025. Eager fans hope it hints the previously warring group are reforming. But June 5 is also the date they first played live - in 1975 at New York's CBGB club. It could herald the release of a remastered recording of that gig. 6 A picture of Byrne performing in Chicago, Illinois, dated October 1979 Credit: Getty - Contributor 6 The US rocker will next year play the SEC Armadillo in Glasgow Credit: Getty The band - who split in 1991 and whose hits include Once in a Lifetime and Road to Nowhere - last played together in 2002 at their induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Frontman Byrne, 73, said at the time more music was unlikely due to "bad blood" and musical differences. Their last live gig was in 1984 in New Zealand.
