Forgotten Home and Away actress reunites with Lynne McGranger years after quitting the show

Daily Mail18-07-2025
Sharni Vinson was all smiles this week as she reunited with one of her Home and Away co-stars.
The actress, 41, starred as fan favourite Cassie Turner on the long-running Seven soap from 2005 to 2008.
Seventeen years after she bid farewell to Summer Bay, Sharni was back in the company of Home and Away stalwart Lynne McGranger.
Sharni, who holds dual US-Australian citizenship, took to Instagram on Thursday to share a sweet snap of the pair.
Both actors looked chuffed to be in each other's company as they stopped for a happy snap at The Sunshine Coast Events Centre in Caloundra.

Sharni was in the coastal Queensland town to catch Lynne in the musical comedy The Grandparents Club 2.
She cut a casual figure in a dark grey sweater that she wore under a long-sleeve flannelette shirt.
She also wore a pair of grey jeans and finished her look with a brown leather baseball-style cap.
Lynne, meanwhile, wore a pink T-shirt and grey leggings, with a black jumper draped over her shoulders.
'Away from home with @lynnemcgranger,' Sharni captioned the image, adding the hashtag #reunion as well as a push for fans to vote for Lynne to win a Gold Logie at this year's awards.
Home and Away fans were quick to gush over the photo, with many still hoping for Sharni's return to Summer Bay.
'Cassie & Irene reunion. I hope we will see you back on Home and Away,' one fan gushed.
Another chimed in with: 'The reunion we never knew we needed! I love this!'

Two days earlier, Sharni flaunted her enviable frame on a beach, sharing an image to social media.
She wore a barely there two-piece bikini that showed off her washboard stomach, as well as her trim and toned pins.
She finished her beach look with a pair of mirrored sunglasses and a sun hat to protect her face from the elements.
'Keep your feet on the ground and your head in the clouds,' Sharni captioned the summery snap.
The brunette actress was just 22 years old when she debuted on the long-running drama.
There have been whispers of a return to Summer Bay for a while, but Sharni has not confirmed any news.

Nine of the best family games for the summer holidays

I grew up fighting with my siblings and watching Neighbours and Home and Away. When we got bored, we'd be thrown outside to play in the street or told to shut up and play a game. Fast forward 100 years and I'm a kids' coach (and a lawyer), and my early days being forced to play games have turned me into a fully fledged addict. I love them — I use them to salvage a rainy Sunday afternoon with no plans; to keep things light in coaching sessions and to prise my own kids away from their screens. I really believe there is a game for any occasion: have a child struggling with maths? Rat-a-tat Cat will get them adding up small numbers in no time — don't punish them with Rummikub unless and until they become more confident. Perhaps it's a teenager who struggles with school but is amazing at art — crack open Pictionary. What about a kid just having a hard time, feeling things keenly and lost in their feelings? Try the very silly Gas Out, to lighten the mood. This most steady and reliable of games keeps everyone happy and it's very fun. I don't think I've been out for a family meal without it for about five years. The aim is to get as low a score as possible so it's very good for learning how to add up small numbers. Everyone gets a card with the same list of 12 topics — eg a girl's name, a fad, something your partner does that annoys you — and everyone also gets given the same letter, eg T. You then have three minutes to give a word for every subject ('Tamsin', 'Tamagotchi', 'Turns off sockets at the mains even when there's nothing plugged in'). If you don't have the same answer as anyone else, you get a point. It's sort of like an inverse and live version of Family Fortunes. The questions in this game are updated in line with current affairs, supplementing a stock of evergreen questions. You play on an app which can be off-putting if you want your game time to be screen free, but you do learn a lot while you're having fun. If you're tech savvy it means you can play with friends remotely too. • Read more parenting advice, interviews, real-life stories and opinions Two brilliant and absorbing building games with a very high boredom threshold. Yes, it's a bit annoying to crawl around looking for one of the random tower pieces but in this case, the juice is well worth the squeeze when you beat all previous tower height records and your opponent marvels at your dexterity and engineering prowess. The kids' version of the grown-up game Linkee, although truthfully the Dinkee version is plenty hard for the adults in my family. The game itself is like Only Connect — each card has four seemingly random questions on it. You write down the answer to each, and if you can guess what links the four answers you win the card. It's an absolute riot and I can see my kids' brains unfurl in real time when we play. This card game is based around a watering hole. You start with a hand of animal-themed cards, from elephant to mouse, and the bigger animals 'eat' the ones further down the chain. Each go, you lay cards and pick up cards, trying to 'eat' other animals to keep in your stockpile. It's really simple and quite therapeutic. This card game is basically snap but with actions and a hypnotic chant. The players all chant 'taco, cat, goat, cheese, pizza' over and over again, matching the rhythm to the laying of cards. If the card laid matches the word being said, you 'snap', and the last one to snap has to pick up all the cards. To add a twist there are additional elements where players have to do an action. The last one to do the action has to take all the cards. • The best podcasts and audiobooks for a family road trip This game is suitable for all ages. It's basically about farts and not being the last person to hit the button that triggers one. There's a central character toy, Guster the Gas Cloud, with a button on top. Each player starts with three cards. Each go you play one and pick one. The cards have a 1, 2 or 3 written on them. You have to press the button the number of times that is written on your card. The fart builds up each time and if your push lets one go, you are also let go! Simple, dumb fun. Another winner that has kids crying with laughter. Players are asked a simple question and they have five seconds to come up with three answers before the buzzer rings. It's a good one to take out with elderly relatives as they can play too. Love Island's Shakira and Harry set for VERY awkward meeting with her mum after she branded her daughter's love interest a 'd***head' in scathing rant

It was revealed at the end of Sunday night's Love Island episode the contestants are set to be reunited with their loved ones in the family and friends episode. However, it seems not everyone will be playing happy families with their offspring and their chosen love interest, judging by Shakira 's mother Sukina's TikToks. As Harry made another play for her daughter, Sukina launched into a furious tirade about the situation and warned him off Shakira. Labelling the Islander a 'd***head' in a scathing online rant, Sukina - who runs an online tarot card reading business - suggested Shakira will need a 'spiritual cleanse'. Sharing her unfiltered opinion, Sukina said: 'When I think of the villa I just think of a cesspit, it is just a cesspit and she is surrounded by snakes. 'She will be getting a deep spiritual cleanse when she comes home and I am just going to add this - Harry needs to the f*** up about Shakira. It was revealed at the end of Sunday night's Love Island episode the contestants are set to be reunited with their loved ones in the family and friends episode 'Seriously, the only person that's trying to give life to that little situation is that d***head. There, my love and light slipped for a minute.' 'That's about as negative as I got, d***head'. A teaser at the end of the latest episode revealed that Monday's show will see family and friends temporarily enter the villa to reunite with the Islanders. The clip showed Toni's mother Leslie making a bombshell arrival in the villa, shouting for her daughter who screamed from the terrace when she spotted her. The iconic episode, which airs days before the final, typically brings happy reunions but also some home truths from those who have been watching from home. It has not been confirmed that Sukina is one of the relatives entering the villa, however her arrival will certainly make for very awkward viewing. Shakira and Harry called it quits when he began showing an interest in Helena again, with Shakira ending their romance when she caught wind of Harry's behaviour. However, in a twist of events, Shakira ended her blossoming romance with Conor because of her lingering feelings for Harry. Helena was chosen by Blu after Harry picked to recouple with Shakira After hearing how Shakira felt, Harry began questioning his own connection with Helena, who he had just asked to be exclusive with. An explosive Grafies episode, private clips exposed Harry's true feelings for Shakiraw which he later admitted to Helena. Shakira and Harry are now exploring their romance again, much to her mother's dismay, and have recently recoupled. After calling time on their relationship, viewers have slammed producers for giving Helena and Harry a 'sad edit'. Following a row at the firepit where Helena said she was 'done', the pair later had an emotional chat where they confirmed their romance was over and hugged it out. Later in the day Harry was seen crying in the bedroom and Helena asked if he was okay before giving him another intense embrace. But viewers were sceptical of the scenes and criticised producers for laying sad music over their conversations. Viewers said they 'weren't buying it' when it came to the 'sad edit', as they felt it was an ill-judged attempt at a 'redemption arc' for Harry. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, they said: 'I wonder if the producers realise that we're not buying it? Why is Helena acting like this is Harry's last day on Earth?'; 'I actually don't care about the saga between Harry and Helena so please end it tonight!'; 'I hope to god Helena's friends and family have a long talk with her about her self worth and how she allows people to treat her when she gets home. It makes me sad to see how much she was willing to accept and even watching her hug Harry and say she'll miss him!'; 'WHAT WAS THAT SONG DURING THE HARRY AND HELENA MOMENT ("i know i don't deserve you blah blah"),'; 'Turn this emotional music off, the Helena sad girl edit is not going to work. She was soooo horrible to Shakira when she was with Harry I cba,'; 'This whole episode is the sad Harry show & I'm done with it tbh. They've given Harry more support than either Shakira or Helena, I don't understand,'; '"I'm going to miss you" Helena, Harry isn't dying, you'll see each other at events and be back mates in no time,'; 'Why are they acting like Helena/Harry was a love for the ages? I cannot deal!'; 'Can we move on from this Helena and Harry sob story now,'; But viewers were sceptical of the scenes and criticised producers for laying sad music over their conversations Viewers said they 'weren't buying it' when it came to the 'sad edit', as they felt it was an ill-judged attempt at a 'redemption arc' for Harry 'They really gave Harry the redemption arc sickening,'; 'Are we supposed to care about Harry and Helena splitting up'; 'Is this episode meant to be music and Harry and Helena crying the whole episode in some attempt of a redemption arc,'; 'Can they wrap up this Harry and Helena storyline?? We are halfway through this episode and nothing has happened by tears ???'; 'No one else left in the villa. Why is it a harry and Helena episode. They broke up let's move on.' The aftermath of the Grafties continued for many of the Islanders during Sunday's episode, including Harry who came back into the Villa after sleeping outside. Sitting together inside, Harry and Shakira debriefed about how they were feeling. Harry said: 'I have really tried with her [Helena], but we [Shakira and Harry] had like a week and it was, for me, the feelings were obviously way stronger and still are. I'm sorry I never like tried again. I really thought the door was just, like, slammed.' Shakira replied: 'Do you want some home truths… it's obviously the way you go about it and the steps you take in between to come to these conclusions obviously hurt people along the way. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, they said: 'I wonder if the producers realise that we're not buying it? Why is Helena acting like this is Harry's last day on Earth?' 'It's all well and good you saying "hold my hands up guys, sorry" but you still hurt people.' 'And it's a pattern,' she added, before Harry confessed: 'Look, I'm either leaving here alone or with you.' Still feeling confused by the situation, Helena pulled Shakira to try and make sense of it. Shakira told Helena: 'Nothing's changed. There's been no miracle… I was saying I've not let myself heal over the situation and then he was like, "Same". I was like, "What?" He said, "I've not processed how I felt towards you, I've hopped into something with Helena." I don't understand it.' 'No, I don't understand it,' Helena said, before pulling Harry and asking him: 'Have you felt this way about Shakira this whole time?' Harry replied: 'I didn't, I just buried it all. I just didn't address any of my feelings and we were flying…' Helena went on to admit: 'I thought I had something genuine in here.' Later, Shakira too tried to make sense of how she was feeling, telling Harry: 'Like, how you're feeling now is not making sense from what I've seen for the past however many weeks.' The smash-hit singer reunited with her former bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. 6 6 6 After performing 31 shows across Europe and the states, Beyonce took to the stage for her final show of the worldwide Cowboy Carter Tour. But as she wrapped up her performances to a sold-out crowd in Vegas, Queen Bey sent her fans into a frenzy with a special surprise performance. The trio took to the stage together for the first time since their Coachella reunion in 2018. Her loyal fans went wild as the famous noughties group sported co-ordinated sparkly gold ensembles. They strutted down the stage as the music for 'Lose My Breath' blared out to tens of thousands of Beyoncé's biggest fans.
