Derek Dixon speaks out on Perry lawsuit

Express Tribune4 days ago
Derek Dixon, an actor from Tyler Perry's The Oval, has spoken publicly for the first time since filing a $260 million sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit against Perry in June 2025.
In an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dixon detailed a series of alleged incidents that occurred between 2020 and 2021.
He claims Perry made multiple unwanted advances, including one at Perry's Georgia home, where he alleges Perry pulled down his underwear and groped him.
In another incident, Dixon says Perry entered his bedroom and rubbed his thigh before leaving.
Dixon also alleges that after he rejected these advances, professional opportunities were rescinded specifically citing a canceled pilot and a recurring role.
He said he feared the consequences of speaking out earlier but now feels responsible to do so, stating, 'Everyone deserves to go to work without their boss trying to have sex with them.'
He also revealed that efforts to address the matter privately were unsuccessful and that public legal action was a last resort to prompt systemic change.
Tyler Perry has not commented publicly. However, his attorney has denied all allegations, calling the claims 'completely fabricated' and stating they are confident the case will be dismissed.

Joy Taylor exits Fox Sports as FS1 cancels Speak, Breakfast Ball, and The Facility

Joy Taylor is exiting Fox Sports following a wave of programming changes at the network's FS1 cable channel, sources told The Athletic. As part of the overhaul, three shows—Speak, Breakfast Ball, and The Facility—are being canceled due to underwhelming audience performance. Taylor, 38, co-hosted Speak alongside Keyshawn Johnson and Paul Pierce. Her contract with Fox Sports, where she worked for nearly a decade, was not renewed. The show's cancellation coincides with a broader restructuring of FS1's daytime programming. According to insiders, the decision was driven by low viewership across the three programs. Taylor's departure comes amid broader scrutiny at FS1, including controversy involving former top programming executive Charlie Dixon. Dixon, who departed in April 2025, has been named in two lawsuits, one of which accuses him of sexual battery. The suit also alleged that Taylor dismissed a makeup artist's complaint—an accusation she has denied. The canceled morning shows, Breakfast Ball and The Facility, were also developed under Dixon's leadership. Breakfast Ball featured Craig Carton, Mark Schlereth, and Danny Parkins. Carton joined FS1 following a stint at WFAN and a prior prison sentence for fraud. He had been a key figure on Breakfast Ball, and sources suggest a return to WFAN may still be on the table. The Facility, which launched less than a year ago, was hosted by former NFL players Emmanuel Acho, Chase Daniel, James Jones, and LeSean McCoy. Despite the cancellations, FS1 will continue airing The Herd with Colin Cowherd and First Things First featuring Nick Wright, Chris Broussard, and Kevin Wildes. Fox Sports declined to comment, but new programming is expected to replace the canceled shows in upcoming months.

Justin Bieber to reportedly release seventh album on Friday, July 11

Justin Bieber is set to surprise his fans with the release of his seventh album, slated for Friday, July 11, 2025, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The pop sensation has been working on the highly anticipated project, his first since Justice in 2021, and has kept the details under wraps until now. While there has been no official comment from Bieber or Def Jam, sources revealed that the album has been in the works for several months. Bieber recently wrapped up work on the album in Iceland, where he spent time in April finalizing the project. During his stay in Reykjavik, the star hosted creative sessions with a variety of musical collaborators, including his longtime DJ Tay James, musical director HARV, SZA collaborator Carter Lang, and Australian artist Eddie Benjamin. Notable features on the album include Gunna, Sexyy Red, and Cash Cobain, with each artist having been acknowledged by Bieber on his social media in recent months. Other contributions come from U.K. singer-songwriter Sekou and producer Dylan Wiggins, known for his work with Kali Uchis and The Weeknd. He and wife Hailey Bieber welcomed their first child last year, and Bieber also parted ways with his longtime manager, Scooter Braun, in 2023. Fans can look forward to Bieber's latest album, which promises to showcase his growth as both an artist and individual.
