Operations Commander PBK I Firdaus Abdullah said a final review of CCTV footage from the Johor Bahru City Council showed that only one victim was thrown from the impact.
'The individual was taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for treatment, bringing the total number of victims involved in the crash to three,' he said in a statement today.
Earlier, 16 personnel from the Larkin and Skudai Fire and Rescue Stations, including members of the Water Rescue Team, had launched a search operation following initial reports that a victim may have fallen into a nearby seawater channel. — Bernama

(Pexels pic) PETALING JAYA : A youth has claimed trial to raping his cousin sister in Tuaran, Sabah, on two occasions, once when she was seven and five years later when she was 12. The 19-year-old was charged in the Kota Kinabalu sessions court with committing the offences on the victim sometime in 2019 and 2024, Daily Express reported. The charges were framed under Section 376 of the Penal Code, which provides for up to 20 years in prison and whipping upon conviction. Deputy public prosecutor Bryan Francis had urged the court not to allow the accused bail as he was a relative of the victim and posed a 'risk' to witnesses in the case. Lawyers acting for the accused pleaded for bail, saying their client is unemployed, had voluntarily come forward to assist in investigations, and also had to care for his parents who were ill. Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan allowed the accused bail at RM3,000 but ordered him to report to the nearest police station every month and not to have any contact with the victim.

Teen girl killed, man injured in motorcycle crash due to burst tyre
BUKIT MERTAJAM: A 17-year-old girl was killed while her 23-year-old male companion suffered serious injuries after their motorcycle skidded due to a burst tyre on the North-South Expressway near Seberang Jaya. The incident occurred at Kilometre 136.8 northbound late yesterday evening. Seberang Perai Tengah police chief ACP Helmi Aris confirmed that the pair were travelling from Juru to Sungai Dua when the rear tyre of their motorcycle suddenly burst, causing the vehicle to lose control. 'The 23-year-old rider sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Seberang Jaya Hospital. Unfortunately, the teenage pillion rider was pronounced dead at the scene,' he said in a statement today. Authorities are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Witnesses or anyone with information related to the accident are urged to contact investigating officer K. Vignesh at 011-14572390. – Bernama
