Divya Dutta to star in Telugu series Mayasabha

New Delhi, Aug 1 (PTI) Actor Divya Dutta is set to make her Telugu debut with the upcoming political drama series, titled 'Mayasabha" Directed by Deva Katta and Kiran J Kumar, the series is set to stream on Sony Liv from August 7.
Dutta, known for roles in 'Veer-Zaara" and 'Badlapur", shared the news on her Instagram handle on Thursday by uploading the trailer of the series.
'A friendship tested by ambition. A rivalry that redefined leadership. A story that changed the fate of a state. #Mayasabha Trailer out now #Mayasabha – A gripping political saga – Starts streaming from August 7th on @sonylivindia," read the caption of the post.
Also starring Sai Kumar, Srikanth Iyengar, Nassar, Tanya Ravichandran, Ravindra Vijay, and Shatru, the series is set against the volatile backdrop of regional politics, the series explores themes of friendship, ambition, betrayal, shifting alliances, and the ruthless quest for power.
The 47-year-old actor said she wanted to be a part of the Telugu cinema for the long time.
'Firsts are always special, and I've long wanted to be part of Telugu cinema. With the growing synergy between Bollywood and South Indian films, I'm proud to debut with this powerful show. It's grand, gripping, and my role as a strong political figure is one I'll always cherish. Even in her silences, she exudes power. I'm grateful to my director for trusting me with this character, he calls it his best casting," she said in a statement.

In a prior hearing, the Supreme Court advised the ECI to focus on 'en masse inclusion" rather than 'en masse exclusion", underscoring the significance of every citizen's right to vote. The court's order to disclose detailed, booth-wise information aims to facilitate thorough cross-verification by political parties and the public during the claims and objections period, which lasts until September 1. Opposition parties have raised concerns that the revision process might result in the wrongful disenfranchisement of numerous eligible voters, especially those from marginalised communities. Shinde meets Modi, Shah, refutes suggestions of Mahayuti trouble
MUMBAI: Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde, who visited Delhi on Wednesday to meet prime minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah, rejected rumours that he was there to sort out his issues with his Mahayuti allies. Maharashtra's deputy chief minister said that he and his family members went to congratulate Modi on the success of Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev, and he later had a separate one-on-one meeting with him. Speaking at a press conference, the politician showered fulsome praise on Modi and Shah, saying that Shah had just become the longest-serving home minister in the history of India, completing an uninterrupted term of 2,258 days. 'We met him to convey our heartfelt congratulations,' he said. Shinde called Shah's leadership 'decisive' and stated that from abrogating Article 370—thereby fulfilling the dream of Bal Thackeray—to leading Operation Mahadev against terrorism and effectively curbing Naxalism, the home minister had shown 'unwavering commitment and visionary leadership'. 'From cooperative development to national security, his contribution has been exemplary,' he gushed. The deputy CM took a snipe at the Thackeray cousins Raj and Uddhav when asked about a possible alliance between the two. 'So what will happen if the two come together?' he asked. 'People don't vote for names but for accomplishments. They don't vote for people who sit at home. Parties have a right to get into alliances but the people decide whom to vote for.' There were some questions on Thackeray attending the opposition alliance INDIA meet on August 7 but Shinde refused to answer them. The Shiv Sena chief announced that his party had extended its unconditional support to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the upcoming vice-presidential election.
