ScotRail saw busiest week of 2025 as Oasis played in Scotland
Music fans descended on the rail network as Noel and Liam Gallagher prepared to play three shows in Scotland after getting back together and going on tour for the first time since Oasis disbanded in 2009.
Around 328,000 commuters packed onto trains on Friday, August 8, to see the Mancunian rockers.
The rail operator noted that this is a 19 per cent increase in passenger numbers compared with the same day last year.
We previously reported that huge queues had been spotted spilling out of Glasgow Queen Street station on August 8 as concert goers eagerly waited to board services to the capital.

On Saturday, August 9, around 327,000 people travelled by train across the country.
ScotRail stated that those were the busiest days on its network since December 14, traditionally the weekend when most Christmas parties and nights out take place.
The last of Oasis' Scottish gigs took place on Tuesday, August 12, and delivered a further boost in numbers.
This meant that from the week of Friday, August 8, 1,995,000 people travelled on ScotRail services.
Ahead of the sold-out run of gigs at Murrayfield, extra trains and seats were put on by ScotRail to accommodate fans.
Rail staff were also seen getting into the spirit of things, with some donning special Oasis-themed bucket hats and posing for photos with customers.

Additional services will continue to run as people travel to and from the Edinburgh Festivals up until August 25.
David Ross, ScotRail chief operating officer, said: 'This week once again confirms that ScotRail is increasingly the travel mode of choice for people going to large events in Scotland.
'The fact that we've just delivered the busiest week of 2025 so far shows how important large concerts and events are to our business and the Scottish economy.
'Our frontline staff once again delivered an excellent service for almost two million customers who chose to travel with ScotRail.'
Next week, rock superstars AC/DC will be taking to the stage at Murrayfield on Thursday, August 21.
Fans heading to the show are being advised that extra services and seats have also been added for this gig.

Oasis star Noel Gallagher has sights set on a new project, with uncertainty surrounding whether it will involve brother Liam as they continue their epic reunion tour Noel Gallagher is reportedly crafting fresh material but remains undecided whether he will collaborate with brother Liam for new Oasis tracks. However the insider disclosed: "Noel has been in an absolutely fine mood... greeting staff with smiles, super relaxed and sharing his joy about the shows. "He's also been strumming some new tunes in his dressing room. But, from what he has said, these tracks are not yet aligned for any project. "There is no Oasis studio return as yet agreed by the band, and they still have a long way to go. Things are great now, but who knows what will happen given the brothers' past troubles on the road." Oasis parted ways back in 2009 follow a massive row between the siblings, however they delighted fans last year announcing they would reunite as they launched the Oasis reunion tour in Cardiff back in July. The pair are set to earn £50million each if they can maintain harmony during their travels and have so far kept their distance from one another backstage. In Ireland this weekend, even their hotels were reportedly 30 miles apart. Filmmaker Charlie Lightening revealed Liam's pre-gig routine and how he anticipated both him and sibling Noel would maintain their distance. "With Liam, he'll come and do the soundcheck, then he'll go to his hotel room and just chill all day," he previously said. "And then most of the time, he turns up 20 minutes before he goes on stage, straight into his dressing room, finishes off his warm-up. No one talks to him. "He comes out five minutes before the show, does the show, then goes straight off into his car. You don't really see him." Charlie reckons the animosity between Liam and elder brother Noel is precisely what drives Oasis forward, as he said: "It will never fully go. It will still have that edge, for sure." Following Ireland the group heads across the pond to Canada, US, and Mexico, before returning to Wembley Stadium in London on September 27 and 28. They will then travel further afield to Asia, Australia and South America, with the final date of their Oasis Live '25 tour taking place in Sao Paulo in Brazil on November 22 and 23.

Liam and Noel Gallagher's mum Peggy has finally seen her two sons on stage with Oasis for the first time in 16 years, and is attending their Croke Park concerts in Dublin Proud mum Peggy Gallagher has finally been to see the Oasis reunion - with Liam Gallagher dedicating a song to her tonight in Dublin. As the band performed Stand By Me, Liam could be heard saying: "This one I want to dedicate to my mum, my mum is here tonight." There were big cheers from the fans at Croke Park in response. The 92-year-old mum of Noel and Liam Gallagher is thrilled her sons have patched up their differences and reunited the band. She has spoken about planning to see them on the Oasis Live 25 tour too and still lives in Manchester, where she brought up her three sons in Burnage. But Peggy avoided the all-standing Manchester shows so she could see them in comfort in a box when they played in Dublin. In an interview in June, Peggy was asked if she had anything to do with the reunion between Noel and Liam. She said: "I was the instigator, yes. But sure, wasn't it always going to happen at some time or other? It was their choice, of course. Look you can't force them to do things they don't want to do'. She confessed she was relieved to see her sons working together again, following a years-long rift between the two. 'It's great, because nobody wants their kids falling out, do they?' she said, although she admitted to being nervous about the shows and would be 'glad when it's all just over because it makes me get too stressed.' Peggy has been spending time with both Noel and Liam in the run-up to the live tour, and was on holiday with Liam and his partner Debbie in the South of France earlier in the year when Liam was on vocal rest. Speaking in the Sunday Times in 2019, Liam said: 'Any good that comes out of me is all from Peggy and all her sisters and brothers. 'They were a good, close bunch of people.
