The Gladiator star, 61, and his fiancée Britney Theriot, 32, have been at the centre of wedding bell rumours for a while and it seems Russell is ready to take the leap into matrimony.
'Russell had to slim down for his Great Depression movie he's about to start filming in Bavaria [The Weight with Ethan Hawke ] but he's also said he wanted to be in shape for his wedding day to Britney,' a source close to the star told Woman's Day.
'He's been getting heat from his boys for stringing Britney along and avoiding setting a date.

It comes after Russell ignited rumours he is set to tie the knot with Britney in Rome.
Earlier this year, claims were circulating that the couple were eyeing up an Italian wedding after reportedly visiting a church during their latest visit to the city.
The couple, who started dating in 2020, visited Rome last year when Russell performed with his band The Gentlemen Barbers at the Forum Theatre.
They were spotted sightseeing during their lavish getaway and reportedly visited a church in the city.
'Italy was always going to be their wedding destination. Every time they go there, they come back more in love,' an insider told Woman's Day.
'It's always been their dream to get married there.'
Russell and Britney frequently visit Italy together and first sparked engagement rumours during a trip to the European country last year.

Kerry Katona revealed she reached out to ex Brian McFadden 's new wife Danielle Parkinson on the couple's wedding day. The TV personality and former singer, 44, who was married to the star from 2002 to 2006 and share two daughters, Molly and Lilly-Sue, got candid in her recent column for New! Magazine where she discussed his latest wedding day. Despite the acriminious split, the Atomic Kitten star had nothing but good wishes for the newlyweds, who tied the knot in a Cornish ceremony last week. Following his marriage with Kerry, Brian married Irish DJ, Vogue Williams in 2012, but they divorced in 2015. Fortunately, it was third time lucky for Brian who met P.E. teacher, Danielle in 2016, through a mutual friend, and the pair now share a daughter together, Ruby. The couple first got engaged back in 2019, but were force to postpone their nuptials due to the Covid pandemic. Danielle used to compete in the heptathlon for Rochdale Harriers at Under 21 level and dreamed to making the Olympics as a teenager. However she ended up teaching PE at Matthew Moss High School in Rochdale, where she was said to be popular with the pupils. Brian moved to Rochdale to be with Danielle shortly after they started dating. The couple then welcomed their daughter Ruby Jean in 2021 through IVF, after previously suffering two miscarriages. Brian's ex Kerry previously shared that she 'gets on really well' with his partner Danielle, saying: 'I think I might have a girl crush on her. I always go off of what my girls say for a stepmum, and she's the best stepmum. 'On Mother's Day, I sent her a message. I went, Happy Mother's Day, Danielle. I think she's lovely and they've got a beautiful little girl, Ruby. 'I wish them nothing but joy and happiness.'
