Man disappears after foraging trip near Miri — search enters second day
Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the family of the victim, Udil Lutan, filed a missing person report on Saturday after he failed to return home.
'According to the report, Udil had contacted a family member at around 8.30pm on Friday asking to be picked up at a location.
'However, when the family member arrived at the said location, the victim was nowhere to be found despite a search of the area,' he said.
Mohd Farhan said a search on Saturday failed to locate Udil and was postponed in the evening before being resumed at 8am today.
Apart from the police, personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department and Civil Defence Force, as well as Udil's family are also involved in the SAR, he added.

For the second and third charges, she was accused of possessing a fake MyKad in the name of a 24-year-old man, as well as three MyKads belonging to men aged 19, 21, and 31, without a reasonable excuse. The offences were allegedly committed at a condominium unit in Taman Puchong Hartamas, Puchong, at 12.10 am on July 11. The second and third charges were brought under Regulations 25(1)(o) and 25(1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990, which carry a maximum penalty of three years' imprisonment, a fine of up to RM20,000, or both, upon conviction. Deputy public prosecutor Norhidayah Abdullah Sani proposed that bail be set at RM30,000 for all charges, with an additional condition that the accused report to the nearest police station once a month. However, the accused's counsel, Yogamani M Marappan, appealed for minimum bail, citing that his client was unemployed and financially dependent on her husband. Housewife charged with murder of adopted baby girl in Cheras condo
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 — A housewife was charged in the Magistrate's Court here today with the murder of her seven-month-old adopted daughter in July. Siti Subrina Imran, 37, nodded after the charge was read out before Magistrate Noorelynna Hanim Abd Halim, but no plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court. She was charged with murdering the infant at a condominium unit in Jalan Sri Permaisuri, Cheras, at 7am on July 30. The charge, framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, carries the death penalty or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years and not less than 12 strokes of the cane, upon conviction. Deputy public prosecutor Iman Nurhidayah Ezani appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented. The court fixed October 13 for mention of the case. Earlier, media reports stated that the baby girl was found unconscious in the living room of a condominium unit in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras. Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad confirmed that police received an emergency call from a man claiming that his adopted daughter had been found unconscious at their residence for unknown reasons. Guan Eng's lawyers reject false link to witness's robbery, stress clear police findings
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 — Lawyers for Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng have criticised what they describe as 'premature and misleading' media reports linking their client to a recent robbery involving a prosecution witness. In a statement today, the firm of Messrs Haijan Omar & Co said the incident yesterday has been irresponsibly tied to Lim's ongoing corruption trial without basis. They took particular aim at lead prosecutor Datuk Wan Shahruddin Wan Ladin, accusing him of making prejudicial comments before police had concluded their investigation. 'While we acknowledge the prosecution's consideration of protective measures, such steps must be based on genuine safety concerns — not on speculative and tendentious assumptions that unfairly associate our client with the incident' the statement read. They argued that any insinuation of Lim's involvement undermines the judicial process and causes undue reputational harm. The legal team said they will raise the matter in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court when the trial resumes on August 19. Lim's lawyers also urged media outlets to verify facts before reporting on the trial to avoid compromising the court proceedings.
