Washington Commanders' quarterback Jayden Daniels is already seen as one of the top players in the conference after a superb rookie season.

Jayden led the team to a 12-win season, two playoff wins, and an NFC Championship game in his first year, and he also won Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Now, as we turn to 2025, the Commanders, after trading for Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil, have pushed all their chips into the middle of the Super Bowl table.
Of course, Daniels will be central to any success Washington has in 2025, and for NFL.com's Judy Battista, she's named Jayden as a dark horse for the MVP award.
"He might not even be that much of a dark horse," Battista writes. "Daniels got a handful of fourth- and fifth-place votes last season, in which he was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year. With an improved offensive line, the addition of Deebo Samuel and a year of NFL experience under his belt, Daniels is positioned to ascend to the top tier of quarterbacks. If he does, and if the Commanders make another playoff push, Daniels will get plenty of attention."

It is no secret that if the Commanders have a good season, Daniels will be the reason why.

Granted, we know that success from one year to another isn't the same, and Houston Texans star C.J. Stroud is proof of that, but Daniels does have a good supporting cast around him, with most of last year's players returning.
But as far as MVP talk, when going up against Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Joe Burrow, it seems like a tall order. However, after his exploits in his rookie season, Daniels might be able to prove he deserves to be in the same conversation as those mentioned above.
Would Daniels really be a dark horse for MVP?
For some, he might have a legitimate shot.

Durant is slated to make $54.7 million next season, so the Rockets would have to send out close to that amount in salary in order for a trade to work, financially. The Athletic's Kelly Iko and Sam Amick previously reported that Durant is very interested in playing for the Rockets. Houston does have a significant amount of future draft capital from Phoenix that could be of interest to the Suns in a trade, but it remains unclear how much (if any) that the Rockets would give up in a deal for Durant — who turns 37 years old later this year. A 6-foot-11 forward, Durant averaged 26.6 points (52.7% FG, 43.0% on 3-pointers), 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 62 games last season. (AP) — Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck has won the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP and the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goaltender, becoming the first at the position to do so since Carey Price a decade ago. Hellebuyck was unveiled as the top MVP vote-getter on an awards show Thursday night prior to Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, hosted by actor and former Arizona State wide receiver Isaiah Mustafa. Edmonton's Leon Draisaitl and Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov were the other Hart finalists, just ahead of Colorado's reigning MVP Nathan MacKinnon, as chosen by members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association. Hellebuyck was a landslide winner of the Vezina as picked by general managers. Hellebuyck won the Vezina for a second year in a row and for the third time in his career. He backstopped the Jets to the Presidents' Trophy for the best regular season and the William Jennings Trophy for the fewest goals allowed before losing in the second round of the playoffs to Dallas. Price was the last to pull off the Hart-Vezina double in 2015. Hellebuyck is just the sixth goalie to do it, joining Price, Jose Theodore in 2002, Dominik Hasek in 1997 and '98 and Jacques Plante in '62.
