Opposition Leader Peter Dutton's rogue act injures cameraman at election event
Channel 10 cameraman Ghaith Nadir copped a ball to the forehead that was kicked by the Opposition Leader while visiting Cazalys Oval, the home of the Palmerston Magpies AFL Club in Darwin, on the eighth day of the election campaign.
Dutton told young players at the club it was 'time' to give the club some investment and 'get some young players drafted', promising to invest $5 million to the grounds if elected.
However, soon after, while kicking a ball to a young Magpies player, the ball landed on the cameraman's viewfinder and hit Nadir in the head, causing a bloody injury. 'That's your exclusive vision,' Dutton joked, before apologising to Nadir.
'I've apologised to him, and I hope that it's all repaired soon, but he's got a war story now from the campaign," Dutton said. Yahoo understands that the cameraman is okay following the injury and was later photographed being patched up.

The electorate of Solomon is held by Labor's Luke Gosling on a 9.4 per cent margin but the Coalition's strong anti-crime stance and voter protest due to high cost-of-living pressures had led to Coalition hopes they could swing a few residents.
The scene is reminiscent of the former Prime Minister Scott Morrison bulldozing a child soccer player during the 2022 election.
The 54-year-old fell on top of the child in Devonport, Tasmania - before checking he was not hurt and exchanging a high-five. It comes just a few days after Mr Morrison said he had been a "bit of a bulldozer" as his unpopularity became an election issue.
However, Dutton jokingly denied to Sky News that this was his Scott Morrison Bulldozer moment. 'I was expecting him to mark it. I was sure he could take that shot,' he said. 'He's good. I just saw him then, so hopefully he's able to get it dressed properly but the AFP did a great job.'
The kick comes on the eighth day of a five-week election campaign with Dutton and Anthony Albanese going head to head to be elected as Australia's next Prime Minister on Saturday May 3.
The incident comes after Anthony Albanese also had a little trip while giving a speech in Cessnock, NSW on Thursday. The Prime Minister has denied he fell and instead says he just 'stepped back onto a step'.

Watch Ian Book's thoughts on Notre Dame football's quarterback room
If there is someone that knows what it's like being a multi-year quarterback starter at Notre Dame, its Ian Book. As the last one to do so, it was natural that he had thoughts on what transpired during the spring and into fall camp, as the Irish decided on CJ Carr over Kenny Minchey on Tuesday. Book joined The Echoes Podcast, with hosts Mike Golic Jr. and Jessica Smetana, and while it was released today, it seems like that segment was recorded before the news came out. Regardless of that fact, Book seemed extremely confident that whoever ultimately got picked to start by head coach Marcus Freeman could get the job done. He feels like they both have traits that will make the successful, as he explained 'their arm strength, arm angles, arm path, and ability to to throw off-schedule to me is pretty good.' Book did say later in the podcast that he's had a hard time judging talent due to his vantage point, he's so used to being behind a center, that watching from the sidelines or an odd angle is foreign to him. It would be interesting to get his thoughts on the choice now that it has been made. Hopefully we hear Book speaking about it soon. Former Wisconsin quarterback wins starting job at Eastern Illinois
Former Wisconsin quarterback Cole LaCrue has won the starting quarterback competition at Eastern Illinois University, according the Prairie State Pigskin's Barry Bottino. LaCrue, who joined the Panthers as a transfer in January, earned the assignment over junior Kevin Conway, sophomore Blainey Dowling, freshman Brady Ford and freshman Connor Wolf. Eastern Illinois opens its season on Aug. 28. The 6-foot-1 quarterback signed with UW as a three-star recruit in the class of 2023. He was ranked as 247Sports' No. 1,047 player in the class, No. 52 quarterback and No. 6 recruit from the state of Colorado. He committed to Wisconsin on Nov. 7, 2022, when Jim Leonhard served as the program's interim coach. Even with a coaching change and the addition of transfer quarterbacks Nick Evers, Braedyn Locke and Tanner Mordecai, LaCrue remained with the program until Nov. 20, 2024. He did not see the field during his two seasons as a Badger. LaCrue will lead an Eastern Illinois program that went 3-9, 2-6 Ohio Valley Conference last year. With last year's starting quarterback Pierce Holley absent from the program due to a loss of eligibility, LaCrue appears to have taken full advantage of the opportunity. Outside of Dayton, Eastern Illinois' most notable game is Nov. 22 against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. LaCrue will try to ignite his regular season with a strong start at home against the Flyers. Texas A&M senior OL earns spot on 2025 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List
Even with a more challenging schedule than in 2024, many fans and media members believe Texas A&M will field a much-improved team. A key factor will be how well the offensive line performs throughout the season. One player head coach Mike Elko will be counting on for leadership is 2025 team captain and starting tackle Trey Zuhn III. Following his 2024 All-SEC selection and 2025 Preseason All-SEC honors, Zuhn has been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Preseason Watch List. Zuhn is one of 102 players across nine conferences selected for the 13th annual presentation of the award, which will be announced in December. The banquet will be held on January 21, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. Entering his senior season, the Colorado native is considered one of the top players at his position. At the same time, his versatility has been utilized during the preseason after it was reported that coach Mike Elko and O-line coach Adam Cushing have worked Zuhn out at center, as he is likely seen as a guard in the NFL. The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: Played football at and graduated from a Texas High School and/or currently playing at Texas D1 four-year college Contact/Follow us @AggiesWire on X and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Texas A&M news, notes, and opinions.
