Dhunseri Poly Films breaks ground for Rs 1,240 crore plant in J-K
Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 8 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday laid the foundation stone for an industrial unit of Dhunseri Poly films Pvt Ltd at Kathua.
Incorporated on November 28, 2020, Dhunseri Poly Films Pvt Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dhunseri Ventures, focused on manufacturing polyester films.
The unit in Kathua is being established with a huge investment of Rs 1,240 crores, opening up employment opportunities for the locals.
The Dhunseri polyester films unit will be developed in two phases, the LG said in his address.
The Lieutenant Governor said enthusiasm of private sector investors is very high in Jammu and Kashmir even as Pakistan tries to disturb the environment.
'Kathua district is one of the best places for investors to put money. With these kinds of investments, new employment opportunities will emerge for the local youth,' the LG said.
Referring to the recent inauguration of the Chenab River Bridge, the LG alluded to the importance the government attaches to the Jammu and Kashmir region.
'Two days back, our PM flagged off a train to Kashmir and connected it with the rest of India. On the occasion, PM had said the efforts to destabilise Jammu and Kashmir and its development journey by the neighbouring country, Pakistan, have been foiled. The successful Operation Sindoor showed the power of the Indian armed forces,' the LG added.
Kashmir valley got connected with the rest of India with Prime Minister Modi's inauguration of the much-awaited and world's highest railway arch bridge over the river Chenab during his day-long visit to Jammu and Kashmir this Friday.
CK Dhanuka, Chairman of the Dhunseri group, told ANI, 'We have decided to set up this plant here in J&K as part of our commitment to give something to the country and to the local people of J&K. This project will give us mental satisfaction. We expect that the entire process of setting up the plant here will be smooth without hurdles.'
Arun Kumar Manhas, Director Industries and Commerce, Jammu, told ANI that this Dhunseri unit will boost the local industry.
'This Dhunseri unit will provide a domino effect to the district and the region. I am sure this plant will contribute to Jammu and Kashmir's industrial success story,' Manhas said. (ANI)

Rs 2,000 crore classroom ‘scam' case: Manish Sisodia says won't appear before ACB today
AAP leader Manish Sisodia, who was summoned for questioning by the Delhi Government's Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) Monday morning in connection with the alleged corruption to the tune of Rs 2,000 crore in the construction of classrooms in government schools when the party was in power, said he would not be able to do so. ACB officials said Sisodia conveyed through his counsel that he is preoccupied with other programmes, and will not be able to appear before them at 11 am. The Aam Aadmi Party leader's counsel also said he will file a reply via email. The officials said that once he sends his reply, they will see whether a summons will be issued again. The AAP also said in a statement, 'Manish Sisodia will not be going to ACB on Monday due to a pre-scheduled programme. His lawyer has sent a reply on his behalf'. ACB issued summonses to former AAP ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain on May 3 in connection with the case. Jain was questioned last Friday for over five hours. On April 30, ACB registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the two AAP leaders in connection with alleged corruption in the construction of 12,748 classrooms or semi-permanent structures during the previous AAP government's tenure. Sisodia held the finance and education portfolios in the AAP government, and Jain was the minister of health, industries, power, home, urban development, and the Public Works Department (PWD). Madhur Verma, Joint Commissioner of Police, who heads the ACB, earlier confirmed the FIR's registration. BJP leaders Kapil Mishra, Harish Khurana, and Neelkant Bakshi filed a complaint in 2019 alleging financial irregularities in the construction of classrooms in Delhi Government schools in three zones. They said the construction cost per room stood at approximately Rs 24.86 lakh, exponentially higher than the roughly Rs 5 lakh it takes for similar constructions in Delhi. The BJP leaders also alleged that the project was awarded to 34 contractors, most of whom were associated with the AAP. According to ACB officials, 12,748 semi-permanent structures were supposed to be built for Rs 1,200 per square feet, but the cost shot up to around Rs 2,292 per sq ft during construction. ACB is probing the cost escalation.

It could also aid police, ambulance, and fire services in improving their emergency response times as DIGIPIN claims to offer a level of geographical accuracy that has been lacking in India so far. 'The DIGIPIN will lead to secure and efficient communication between the citizens and government and private entities. It is an open-source, interoperable, geo-coded and grid-based digital address system,' the government said in a press release. 'DIGIPIN simplifies address management by providing precise location-based identification, especially in areas with unstructured or changing addresses. It also helps in areas where no clear address exists, such as rural regions, forests, and oceans,' India Post said in a post on X. As the government rolls out DIGIPIN nationwide, here is what you need to know about the unique digital ID as well as how you can generate a DIGIPIN for your own home. DIGIPIN is a unique ten-character alphanumeric code that can be generated for any property that is approximately 4 by 4 square meters on Indian land. This means that unique DIGIPINs can be generated for nearly all types of properties including in urban locations and rural areas across different maritime zones. Jaishankar to step up diplomatic push on visit to France, Belgium
On his third visit to Europe in the past few months, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar left on Sunday (June 8, 2025) for a week-long visit to France and Belgium. He is expected to meet with his counterparts in both governments, and in the European Commission and European Parliament in Brussels. This visit is part of the government's efforts to step up its diplomatic engagement post Operation Sindoor to garner support for India's fight against terrorism. 'The visit of EAM is expected to further deepen India's friendly relations with the European Union, France and Belgium and give renewed momentum to ongoing cooperation in diverse areas,' the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, announcing the visit from June 8 to 14. In March, Mr. Jaishankar had travelled to the U.K. and Ireland, and in May, he had visited the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany. In France, Mr. Jaishankar is scheduled to visit Paris for bilateral talks with French Foreign Minister Jean Noel Barrot, and to Marseille to address the 'Mediterranean Raisina Dialogue', a conference of the Ministry and Observer Research Foundation (ORF). This is significant because Marseille is one of the European ports along with Trieste, Italy, and Piraeus, Greece that are in the running for the India-Middle East-Europe-Economic Corridor (IMEC) route, and although ambitions for the project launched in 2023 have been dimmed due to the Israel-Gaza conflict, New Delhi is keen to keep discussions on it alive. In Brussels, he will hold a 'Strategic Dialogue' with EU High Representative and Vice-President Kaja Kallas, the Ministry said.
