have the special blessings of Goddess Kali and during
Operation Sindoor
, they displayed amazing bravery in destroying terrorist camps on Pakistani soil.
Speaking at the inauguration of a newly-built Badi Kali temple in Lucknow's Chowk area, the Lucknow MP said that women soldiers and pilots participated in the Operation Sindoor in large numbers and defeated the enemy. The defence minister said the 26th anniversary of the Kargil War is being celebrated this year.
"We should remember all the heroes, including Captain Manoj Pandey (of Lucknow), who made the supreme sacrifice for Mother India.
The Indian Army regiment in which Captain Pandey served is called the Gurkha Rifles. The slogan of the regiment is Jai Mahakali, Ayo Gurkhali. Mahakali is the inspiration for bravery in this country," he added.
Singh expressed deep reverence for the Badi Kali temple, believed to be over 2,000 years old and established by Adi Guru Shankaracharya.
He cited the late Lalji Tandon's writings, which mention the temple's ancient origins and spiritual significance.

Singh praised the community's active role in the temple's development and acknowledged the govt's support, especially the efforts of tourism minister Jaiveer Singh. He emphasised that the temple is not just a place of worship but a cornerstone of Lucknow's cultural and spiritual identity—standing tall even before the city itself took shape.
Reflecting on his personal connection, Singh said he felt blessed to serve as Lucknow's representative, attributing his journey in public life to the grace of Badi Kali Maa.
He fondly remembered literary icon Amrit Lal Nagar, who dedicated his life to the service of the Goddess.
Singh also announced plans for a new satsang hall and a yoga centre within the temple complex, ensuring it remains a vibrant hub for devotion and wellness. He highlighted the Modi govt's commitment to cultural preservation, citing projects like the Kashi Vishwanath and Mahakal Corridors, as well as the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
He called for collective efforts to transform the Mahakali Temple into a grand spiritual centre.
Meanwhile, deputy CM Brajesh Pathak emphasised the spiritual importance of Goddess Kali in every auspicious household event. Tourism minister Jaiveer Singh credited the govt's efforts in reviving and promoting Sanatan culture and traditions, which, he said, have now reached new heights.

EAM S Jaishankar lands in Beijing today, first visit in 5 years; set to meet Chinese counterpart Wang Yi
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will arrive in Beijing today. This would be Jaishankar's first visit to China after the ties between the two neighbouring countries came under severe strain following the 2020 military standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Jaishankar will participate in a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) foreign ministers on July 14-15. Before travelling to Tianjin for the SCO meeting, Jaishankar is expected to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi. The two leaders are expected to discuss a range of issues, including rare earth supplies to India, the Dalai Lama's succession, the recent India-Pakistan tensions, and the resumption of direct flights between the two countries. In the last few months, India and China have initiated a number of measures to repair the bilateral ties after completing the disengagement of troops from the last of the two face-off sites in October last year. Jaishankar's visit comes less than three weeks after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh travelled to the Chinese port city of Qingdao to participate in the SCO defence ministers' conference. The meeting was unable to issue a communique, as India refused to endorse the draft without referring to the Pahalgam terror attack. The SCO is a China-led multilateral group comprising nine permanent members, including India and Pakistan. China is the current chair of the SCO, and it is hosting the meetings of the grouping in that capacity.
