Panchkula police destroys drugs worth Rs 1.53 crore
The destruction process took place at a modern incinerator facility located in the hygienic factory area of Bagwala, Panchkula, ensuring full transparency and adherence to legal protocols.
The drug disposal was carried out by a dedicated Drug Disposal Committee headed by Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj following the requisite judicial approvals.
The entire process was conducted under strict supervision to ensure it was lawful and secure. DCP Srishti Gupta, ACP Vikram Nehra and Inspector Sukhbir Singh from Raipur Rani police station, among other officers, were present during the disposal.
The substances were seized in 48 separate cases over time and had an estimated market value of Rs 1,53,29,570.
During the event, DCP Srishti Gupta too interacted with local residents of Bagwala and sought feedback on the drug situation in their area. She urged citizens to report any information related to drug trafficking or illegal narcotics activities directly to the police. She also assured the public that those struggling with addiction would be provided access to treatment, rehabilitation, and counselling services. 'This is not just the police's battle — it's a collective fight in which every citizen's participation is crucial,' she said.
Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj called the initiative a significant step in the fight against drug abuse. He reaffirmed that the Panchkula police remains fully committed to continuing strict, transparent, and sensitive action against narcotics. 'Drugs are eating away at the fabric of society. Eliminating them requires a united front involving the administration, community, and each citizen,' he stated.

10-year-old girl dies after ‘falling into open drain' in Gorakhpur, probe ordered
AN INQUIRY has been ordered into the death of a 10-year-old girl who drowned after falling into an open drain in Gorakhpur on Monday. The victim, Afreen, was returning home from a madrasa at the time, officials said on Wednesday. A video purportedly showing local residents pulling the girl out of the drain has surfaced on social media. The incident took place in the Ghosipurwa locality, where construction work to cover the drain and carry out other related projects is underway. Gorakhpur Mayor Dr Manglesh Kumar Srivastava said a showcause notice has been issued to the contractor who was assigned the work and the junior engineer of the municipal corporation. Additional Municipal Commissioner, Gorakhpur, Durgesh Mishra said a committee has been formed to look into the matter. He said action would be taken on the basis of its findings. According to local residents, heavy rainfall on Monday led to waterlogging on a road in the locality. In the evening, the victim, accompanied by her 12-year-old elder brother, was returning home when she accidentally fell into an open portion of the drain. The force of the current took her forward several metres before locals managed to pull her out of the water. She was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Officials claimed that apart from a 'small uncovered portion' where the incident occurred, the rest of the drain in that area has been covered. The victim's father, Anees, earns his livelihood by operating a handcart. Sub-divisional magistrate, Gorakhpur, Deepak Kumar Gupta, said a compensation of Rs 4 lakh has been provided to the girl's family.

"Proceeds Of Terrorism": Over Rs 2.11 Crore Properties Attached In Jammu And Kashmir
Srinagar: More than Rs 2.11 crore properties identified as "proceeds of terrorism" were attached in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Wednesday, police said. These land parcels are measuring two kanals and 12 marlas, a police spokesperson said. He said at Watapora, land measuring one kanal and nine marlas belonging to Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat was attached and the action was carried out under various sections of law. In another action, land measuring one kanal and half marla located at village Chandaji belonging to Jameel Ahmad Khan was also attached, the spokesperson said. Also, two marlas located at village Aloosa belonging to Manzoor Ahmad Dar was also attached, he added. The properties have been identified as "proceeds of terrorism", linked to alleged involvement in facilitating and promoting terrorist activities in the district, the spokesperson said. Shilpa Shetty, husband Raj Kundra booked in Rs 60 crore cheating case
MUMBAI: Actor Kundra, her businessman husband , and an unknown person were booked by Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for allegedly cheating a Mumbai-based businessman of Rs 60.4 crore in connection with a loan-cum-investment deal involving their now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. Since the amount involved is more than Rs 10 crore, the case was transferred to the EOW. The FIR follows a preliminary enquiry by the EOW into a complaint filed by Deepak Kothari. Kothari (60), a Juhu resident and director of Lotus Capital Financial Services, an NBFC. Kothari said one Rajesh Arya introduced him to Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty, who were directors of Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, a home shopping and online retail platform. At the time, the couple reportedly held 87.6% shares in the firm. The accused allegedly sought a loan of Rs 75 crore at 12% interest but later persuaded him to route the funds as an "investment" to avoid higher taxation, while assuring monthly returns and repayment of principal. Kothari claims he transferred Rs 31.9 crore in April 2015 under a share subscription agreement, followed by another Rs 28.53 crore under a supplementary agreement in Sept 2015. The FIR says despite providing a personal guarantee in April 2016, Shetty resigned as director in Sept 2016. Kothari later discovered insolvency proceedings were on against the company in 2017 for defaulting on another agreement.
