
Woman, 50, dies after allegedly drunk driver crashes into moped in Waimanalo
Honolulu police said that at about 11 :15 p.m. a 44-year-old man was driving north on Kalanianaole Highway when he traveled into the southbound lane and hit a 41-year-old woman riding a moped.
The victim, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected onto the road, according the Honolulu Police Department's Traffic Division.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services officials said paramedics were called to the crash but that the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man, who had minor injuries, was arrested for suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant and first-degree negligent homicide.
HPD said alcohol appears to be a contributing factor but that it unknown if speed or drugs contributed.
This was Oahu's 42nd traffic fatality in 2025 compared with 19 at the same time in 2024.

Chaparral man dies in Northeast El Paso crash, medical issue could be cause of crash
A Chaparral, New Mexico, man died after possibly suffering a medical issue while driving, causing him to crash into another vehicle and a concrete barrier in Northeast El Paso, authorities said. Raymond Lee Ervin Massey, 50, was driving a 2019 White Chevy Trax about 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, on U.S. 54 and exited the highway onto Gateway North Boulevard, El Paso Police Department spokesperson Det. Judy Oviedo wrote in a news release. He crashed in the rear corner of a 2002 Gold Chevy Avalanche driven by a 52-year-old man at the intersection of Gateway North and Kenworthy Street. Massey continued driving across the intersection and struck a concrete barrier at a high rate of speed, the news release states. Police believe Massey "may have suffered a medical emergency however, the cause of the collision is still under investigation," the news release states. Murder arrests after man stabbed to death in park
A man has died after being fatally stabbed in a park in Dewsbury. West Yorkshire Police were called to reports of disorder involving a group of males at Crow Nest Park, off Heckmondwike Road, in the Dewsbury Moor area of the town, at 20:17 BST on Saturday. Paramedics and an air ambulance attended the scene but the man, in his 30s, was pronounced dead a short time later. The force said three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder. Police said they had also been called to a report of disorder involving several people fighting on Pilgrim Drive at 20:11, shortly before the incident in the park. Det Ch Insp James Entwistle said: "We have launched a murder investigation after a man sadly suffered fatal injuries while being attacked with a bladed article in Crow Nest Park. "We believe this was a targeted attack and there is no wider threat to members of the public. "I would like to appeal to anyone who was in Crow Nest Park or around Pilgrim Drive or Pilgrim Crescent who may have seen anything that could assist with our enquiries to please come forward." He added there were currently extra police patrols in the area, as well as several detectives investigating the scene. An apartment fire in Turkey's Ankara kills 3, including a baby
Istanbul (AP) — A fire at a 26-story apartment building in the Turkish capital, Ankara, killed three people, including a three-and-a-half-month-old baby, local media said. The blaze broke out at around 10:00 p.m. local time Saturday night on the fourth floor and quickly spread through the structure, according to the state-run Anadolu Agency. It took firefighters four hours to put out the fire. The agency also reported that 39 suffered light smoke inhalation, including seven firefighters. Paramedics attended to 26 people on site, while 20 others have been hospitalized, one in critical condition.
