's decision to hold the national election in April, on Saturday accused him of partiality, a day after he and BNP reached a "preliminary understanding" to hold the poll in Feb.
"The chief adviser has expressed special affection for a party, which has undermined his impartiality," the Jamaat said in a statement.
In a meeting London on Friday, Yunus conveyed to BNP acting chairperson in-exile Tarique Rahman that the election could be held in the week before the start of Ramadan in 2026 if all preparations are completed.
The BNP-led coalition of around 50 parties was demanding early poll in Dec, JeI and National Citizen Party (NCP) had backed Yunus over the April time frame.
JeI said it believes that holding a joint press conference and issuing a statement abroad on domestic matters is a "violation of the country's political culture". He should have held discussions with other parties after returning and then expressed his opinion, JeI said. The NCP called the issue "extremely disappointing".

The use of chaupals and workshops, analysts said, potentially suggests a bottom-up approach, with the BJP's bid to build narratives not just from above but by directly engaging with marginalised – but electorally significant – OBC communities at the grassroots level. The caste census has been a major demand of several opposition parties, essentially the Samajwadi Party and Congress. In fact, the SP's Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak (PDA) campaign — centred on caste census and social justice — is widely said to have dented the BJP while reducing its tally in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Adani's Haifa port unaffected by Iranian missile strikes, operations normal: Sources
JERUSALEM: The Indian billionaire Gautam Adani-led group's Haifa port in Israel was unharmed by the Iranian ballistic missile attack, with cargo operations progressing unhampered, sources said. Shrapnels fell in the chemical terminal at the port and some other projectiles fell at the oil refinery, two sources aware of the matter said. They claimed there were no injuries. Adani's port, however, was not impacted by the strike. A piece of interceptor shrapnel was also found at the Kishan West (Haifa port) but there were no injuries, they said. Cargo operations at the Adani-operated port were unhampered. "There are eight ships in the port now, cargo operations are normal," a source said. The Iranian ballistic missile attack did not inflict any damage to the port or its operations, the sources claimed. The Adani group did not immediately offer any comments on the issue. Israeli government authorities could not be immediately reached for comments. Haifa port serves as a crucial maritime hub, handling over 30 per cent of Israel's imports. It is owned by Adani Ports, which controls a 70 per cent share. The missiles may have caused damage to a major oil refinery close to the port but there was no official comment on the impact on it. Haifa is less than 2 per cent of the volume handled by Adani Ports and SEZ and contributed about 5 per cent of the revenue. APSEZ handles a total cargo of 10.57 million tonnes. Minor flooding raises concerns in Kalamassery amid delayed canal renovation project
Kochi: Incessant rains triggered minor flooding in Kalamassery on Sunday morning, with water entering at least five houses on VR Thankappan Road. Though water receded following a break in the downpour, locals remain anxious about the possibility of repeated flooding as monsoon continues. Athulya K N, a local and schoolteacher, said they face this ordeal every year. "Due to last night's heavy rain, water entered our homes again. Though it has now receded, we are busy cleaning up. This is a recurring issue," she said. She added that during such instances, normal life comes to a standstill, often forcing families to move to relief camps or seek shelter with relatives. Locals expressed frustration that repeated promises by authorities to address the issue have gone unfulfilled. A Rs 14.5 crore drainage project under Rebuild Kerala Initiative was approved by state govt last year. The project includes construction of a 1.96km-long canal, Pottachal, considered vital for proper drainage in the area. Although the plan received administrative sanction, no visible progress was made. Haritha residents' association president V P Siyad blamed the inaction on political differences between Congress-led municipality and LDF-led state govt. "The project is stuck in limbo due to political conflicts. Meanwhile, ordinary people continue to suffer," he said, urging authorities to act without further delay.
