Nabi must jump ship before it's too late
TOUGH JOB The Phefeni Glamour Boys' nationally respected, iconic brand is too big for Nabi. He ran out of depth earlier in this Premiership Soccer League (PSL), evident in the yo-yo performance of his team, says the writer.
If you don't go for what you want, you won't get it. A decade-long hunger and thirst therapy of Kaizer Chiefs supporters and players annexed the Nedbank Cup for the chair, Kaizer Motaung. Coach Nasreddine Nabi did little to nothing in strategising the Khosi's victory against their archrivals, Orlando Pirates, last Saturday.
The club was on autopilot. But their fighting and ancestral spirits prevailed. The Phefeni Glamour Boys' nationally respected, iconic brand is too big for Nabi. He ran out of depth earlier in this Premiership Soccer League (PSL), evident in the yo-yo performance of his team.
To maintain his pedigree, he'd better jump ship before he's unceremoniously pushed out. A talented chef with a few basic ingredients (players) can turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. That's exactly what Chiefs need for a way forward.
The ticket fiasco, not to be forgotten, at Moses Mabhida Stadium, illustrated once again the poor governance of the top-flight football league. The FNB Stadium could have been an ideal venue for this derby clash. The PSL chairman, Ivirn Khoza's contribution to the beautiful game is hitherto much appreciated. It's time for him to pass the baton.
Politically, the black majority lack representation in this country. Like the Chiefs' die-hard fans and passionate players, the rudderless electorate will answer at the right time through therapies.
Liyez'iKhosi, kudos to fired-up players and the club's faithful for cheering their side to silverware that eluded them for ten years!

Kaizer Chiefs' secret weapon to save them millions in the market?
Former Kaizer Chiefs star Mokete Tsotetsi believes that the club should be handing more first-team opportunities to Given Msimango. Msimango featured eight times in the 2024-2025 Betway Premiership season. He will compete with Inacio Miguel and the returning Rushwin Dortley for a place in the first XI next season. REVEALED: Why Chiefs won't be signing Percy Tau Speaking to Soccer Laduma , Mokeke Tsotsetsi has called for Given Msimango to get more minutes under Nasreddine Nabi. He only made 10 appearances across all competitions in 2024-2025. That's in stark contrast with prior campaigns where he made 30 and 26 appearances in the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 league campaigns, respectively. With Rushwin Dortley still on the long road to recovery after knee surgery, Chiefs will need Msimango at the start of 2025-2026. 'To be honest, I think Msimango didn't get enough chances this past season. For me, he is a natural defender, and I believe he still has so much to offer the team,' Tsotetsi said. 'He can still solve the problem that Chiefs have at the back, but he has to be given enough opportunities to gain his confidence again. He has done it before, and he can do it again. I think he still has a lot to offer Chiefs. If given a chance again, I think he can add value to the team.' Chiefs raid Orlando Pirates for two players Given Msimango in training alongside Sibongiseni Mthethwa. Image: @KaizerChiefs/X Do you agree with Tsotetsi? Kaizer Chiefs raid Orlando Pirates for TWO players
Kaizer Chiefs will sign two Orlando Pirates players in the near future. The Nedbank Cup winners are looking at the full-back positions specifically. Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako will swap Orlando Stadium for the FNB. Monyane ends a 13-year spell with the Sea Robbers. According to FARPost , Paseka Mako has joined Kaizer Chiefs until 2028 after signing a three-year deal. 'The diminutive wingback has agreed to a three-year deal with Kaizer Chiefs, effective July 1.' Like a shortfin Mako shark, Paseka is quick, snappy, compact and aggressive. Mako made 26 appearances in the 2024-2025 season. 2020-2021 was arguably his finest campaign, with four assists in 20 league outings. Meanwhile, 34-year-old Deon Hotto faces an uncertain long-term future. Thabiso Monyane, meanwhile, is also on the brink of a move to Chiefs after 13 years with Orlando Pirates. You can check out his full interview with Robert Marawa below. Tau would be satisfied by R450,000 a month and a two-year deal. Click for the story Will Chiefs get the best out of Mako and Monyane? Kaizer Chiefs reveal enlightening reason they won't be signing Tau
Percy Tau won't be joining Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates. Do Sundowns have a sniff of signing their former star? Tau is a free agent after leaving Qatar SC. The 31-year-old Bafana star has seemingly prohibitive wage demands. Kaizer Chiefs won't be signing free agent Percy Tau, despite local speculation that the 31-year-old could be heading to Naturena. 'The team feels that, apparently, they believe they have learnt a lesson from the signing of Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly,' 'They paid a lot of money, but the club [Kaizer Chiefs] believes those returns were not worthy of it. So that's why they are looking at other forward players apart from Percy Tau. So, for now, he is not one of the targets. But in football, you never know what will happen in future. But definitely not now.' 'Of course, there was a time when the club was interested in signing Percy Tau, and that was when he was about to leave Aly Ahly.' 'But no longer. Kaizer Chiefs' technical team, as well as the recruitment department, have ruled out signing Percy Tau this time around. It's apparently not in the coach's plans at the moment. They pulled out of that race.' Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr is working on several deals, including one for Ime Okon.
