Auburn flips 4-star QB Peyton Falzone from Penn State
June 26 - Auburn, a late entry into the recruitment of four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone, got the recruit to flip from Penn State to the Tigers on Thursday.
Falzone announced on social media and told recruiting websites that he is committing to Auburn, after decommitting from Virginia Tech in November 2024 and then, in April, choosing Penn State in his home state.
The Nazareth (Pa.) Academy High School rising senior had posted on June 2 on social media that he received an offer from Auburn. He has not made an official or unofficial visit to the campus.
"Auburn is a place full of tradition," Falzone said in an interview with 247Sports. "My family and I have spent a lot of time discussing the school and its blend of elite football and high-level academics. It has it all. I'm blessed to be able to play at a school with a strong tradition of faith and family running throughout the university and the community. All of that is very important to us. I can't wait to be there. War Eagle."
Falzone is ranked the No. 246 prospect in the nation, No. 18 quarterback and No. 6 player in Pennsylvania for the Class of 2026, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Listed at 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, Falzone threw for 2,135 yards, 23 touchdowns and four interceptions, and rushed 78 times for 697 yards and eight TDs in 2024. As a sophomore in the 2023 season, Falzone passed for 2,528 yards with 19 TDs and four interceptions and rushed for 440 yards and 11 TDs.
He also has offers from Iowa, Utah, Syracuse, Rutgers, West Virginia and Wisconsin as well as Penn State, Virginia Tech and others.

Fans slam 'selfish' NFL star George Pickens for bailing on promise to children at the last minute: 'Zero class'
Former Steelers star George Pickens has sparked outrage after cancelling a scheduled visit to a children's football camp in Pittsburgh at the very last minute. Pickens, who was traded to the Dallas Cowboys back in May, had arranged the appearance through youth camp organizers TruEdge Sports before his Pittsburgh exit earlier this year. TruEdge Sports claim to have reached out to his management after the trade, only to be reassured that he would still 'honor his commitment to the event' on June 28 at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh's Station Square despite his move to Dallas. However, the company has now informed parents who bought tickets for their kids that the wide receiver is no longer attending after dropping out three days before the event. 'As many of you know, George Pickens was traded to the Dallas Cowboys on May 7,' TruEdge Sports wrote in an email to ticket holders. 'Immediately following the trade, our team contacted George's representation to confirm whether he would still honor his commitment to the Pittsburgh event. We were promptly assured that George remained committed to the camp and intended to show up for the families who had registered. 'We are incredibly disappointed by his actions and his actions do not express the goals or motives of TruEdge Sports.' Fans have also hit out at the 24-year-old on social media, branding him 'selfish' and 'immature' for pulling out of the youth camp at the last minute. One user commented on X: 'What a jerk.' Another put: 'Guy has zero class'. 'I get that George may be upset with the team, but its no excuse to back out on the kids like that,' said a third. 'Those are people who look up to him.' 'For those of you who still defend George Pickens and miss him in Pittsburgh, read this. This shows how selfish and immature he truly is,' wrote a fourth. While one simply posted: 'I'm not surprised by this one bit'. In Pickens' place, Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth will now be stepping up and making an appearance at the event on Saturday. TruEdge Sports have offered refunds to fans who purchased tickets in the hope of Pickens being there. The former Georgia star spent three seasons in Pittsburgh before being traded to Dallas in May. After being picked by the Steelers in the second round of the 2022 draft, he is now in the final season of his rookie contract. Pickens had 59 catches for 900 yards and three touchdowns under Mike Tomlin last season, while he also registered at least 50 receptions, 800 yards and three touchdowns in each of his three seasons with Pittsburgh.

Former North End skipper hails early recruitment
Former Preston North End captain Ian Bryson says he's impressed by the club's early recruitment this summer, which has seen five new players added to Paul Heckingbottom's club have signed goalkeeper Daniel Iversen, defenders Pol Valentin and Thierry Small and midfielder Jordan Thompson while most recently striker Daniel Jebbison agreed a season-long loan from who captained North End to the Division Three title in 1996, told BBC Radio Lancashire: "I think it's really, really good. It's unusual for Preston - we tend not to, in recent years, get players in until the windows going on and pre-season is well under way."I believe that Paul gave [the recruitment team] a list saying 'I want those players, go and get them' and it looks like that's happened."To get five in is really good. It's about getting that squad together. My biggest thing in the whole of football is team spirit – end of story.
