Hospital launches advanced 3D mammography system

Time of Indiaa day ago

New Delhi: Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital launched an advanced 3D mammography system on Thursday to commemorate the Cancer Survivor Month. During the inauguration ceremony, attended by chief minister Rekha Gupta as the chief guest, the hospital launched a comprehensive free women's health cancer screening programme and implemented the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The newly installed 3D mammography equipment provides accurate, efficient breast screenings with minimal radiation exposure. This technology enables early detection of abnormalities, making cancer screening accessible to women across economic sections, thereby reducing instances of late-stage breast cancer diagnoses.
During the mammography unit launch, the chief minister said that "this unit is specially designed for the early detection of breast cancer in women, enabling timely treatment.
Equipped with fully digital technology, the unit ensures quick and accurate diagnosis using the latest medical equipment." She added that "cancer is a disease that causes emotional turmoil for entire families when it strikes. However, advancements in medical science today have made early detection and effective treatment possible.
"
Speaking at the event, Dr Emmanuel Rupert, managing director and Group CEO of Narayana Health, explained the significance of the new initiatives. He outlined the screening programme offering 5,000 free pap smear tests and 5,000 free mammography screenings, alongside clinical breast examinations, cervical cancer screening, and lifestyle counselling for underprivileged women and Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries.
He also mentioned the introduction of a mobile diagnostic unit providing mammograms and laboratory tests to underserved areas in Delhi. TNN

Rendered homeless, doctors struggle to collect belongings

Ahmedabad: A day after the Air India plane crash at the BJ Medical College hostel complex in Meghaninagar, resident doctors who lived in the affected buildings returned to collect their belongings. However, they faced several restrictions and procedures instead of assistance. Security agencies completely sealed off the crash site. Entry was allowed only after names were registered and permission granted. Police did not allow mobile phones inside the area, citing concerns that the crash wreckage might be recorded. Doctors carried their belongings in plastic bags, sacks, and even medical waste bags. Some used two-wheelers or carried items on their heads. Others had to wait outside, asking for access and space to retrieve their possessions. A senior doctor expressed frustration, saying, "We are being treated like we've done something wrong. Police are recording videos of us entering our own rooms. We just came to collect our belongings." Dr Umang Karnani said he was alive only because he skipped lunch and wasn't in his room at the time. "I lost everything—documents, certificates, clothes, and household items. I could only recover a few utensils. My hands are still black from the dust and ash." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like New Trend: How Classic Book Mugs Enhance Your Coffee Experience Topgadgetlife Shop Now Undo Dr Dhaval Patel from the plastic surgery department said his flat in Atulyam-2 was destroyed. "All my certificates and documents are lost. I was at the hospital during the crash, which is why I survived." Another woman doctor, who asked not to be named, said, "I left my young daughter with relatives to come and collect my things. But the police and agencies are being difficult. We've already gone through a traumatic episode. We just want to take our belongings." Harshad Thakkar, father of Dr Shivam Thakkar, a paediatrician, said, "My son and his wife Jenny Thakkar, who is also a doctor, were in Vadodara at the time of the crash. But when we came to collect their things, we had to wait for hours outside." Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Experts advise parents to be extra vigilant on children's online activities

Prayagraj: With the rise of dangerous and sensational content on social media platforms, the experts caution parents to be extra vigilant about what their children watch online. Imitation of risky stunts and 'tricks' can lead to serious, even life-threatening, consequences as was recently witnessed in a village of Kunda tehsil in Pratapgarh, where an 11-year-old boy fell unconscious after a teenager tried to mimic a YouTube stunt. The incident occurred during a wedding gathering when children were playing inside a house. A teenager, in a bid to impress his friends, pressed the carotid arteries, the major blood vessels supplying blood to the brain, on the neck of a 11-year-old boy. Within seconds, the boy collapsed. Initially assumed to be fainting, the situation turned critical when the boy failed to regain consciousness. Alarmed by his deteriorating condition, his family rushed him to a neurosurgeon in Prayagraj. Dr Prakash Khaitan, who treated the boy , said, "The boy was brought to hospital last week unconscious and having seizures. On enquiring about the case history, his family members revealed that while playing, a teenager imitating a social media trick, pressed the two carotid nerves below the ear lobes, blocking blood supply to the brain after which the boy fell unconscious. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Urologists: What 90% Of Men With ED Don't Know (Start Doing This) health-paradise Learn More Undo " According to Dr Khaitan, MRI results confirmed that the compression of the carotid arteries disrupted oxygen supply to the boy's brain, triggering seizures and temporary weakness in his limbs. "After five days of treatment, the child has now started walking.." The boy's father recalled the harrowing moment. "When we went inside the room, my son was unconscious and was having seizures. He was not able to drink water or stand on his legs." Psychiatrist Dr Rakesh Paswan of Colvin Hospital added that a growing number of children are being exposed to violent and hazardous online games. He urged parents to supervise mobile usage closely until children are at least 18 years old and to encourage outdoor activities. "We appeal to the parents to encourage outdoor activities of their wards to ensure a healthier lifestyle," said Dr Paswan. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here .
