Michigan football recruiting surges with 4-star OL Marky Walbridge commit
Michigan football recruiting has been on a heater, and you never interrupt a school when it's on a heater.
The Wolverines have been on multiple commit watch ever since the conclusion of the June official visit cycle and thus far have netted two pledges in four-stars DT Titan Davis and WR Zion Robinson. The question then became, who's next?
With Sherrone Moore at the helm, you always know that offensive line is going to be a priority for the maize and blue, yet Michigan only had one offensive lineman committed in 2026 in Cartersville (Ga.) Cass four-star IOL Bear McWhorter. Until now.
After what appears to be a successful official visit to Ann Arbor for Victors Weekend, Needham (Mass.) St. Sebastian's four-star offensive lineman Marky Walbridge committed to Michigan football over Alabama, Penn State, and Boston College.
Walbridge is rated highest by On3, which has him as the No. 235 player in the country, regardless of position. He's listed as an interior lineman by On3 but an offensive tackle by 247Sports -- which ranks him as a three-star.

Four-star WR Zion Robinson commits to Michigan
Four-star wide receiver Zion Robinson announced his commitment to play for the Michigan Wolverines on Wednesday. "Trying to pick a school that's good academically, good at football, it's hard," Robinson said on Instagram Live. "But without further ado for the next 3-4 years, I will be taking my academic and athletic talents to the University of Michigan. Go Blue." The 6-foot-3, 180-pound wideout out of Mansfield High School in Texas reportedly chose Michigan over offers from Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Penn State, Stanford, Miami and Nebraska. In his junior year in 2024, Robinson caught 42 passes for 527 yards and eight touchdowns and ran 14 times for 76 yards as a junior in 2024. He is ranked as the No. 132 national prospect, No. 18 wide receiver and No. 19 player in Texas for the Class of 2026 in the 247Sports Composite rankings. Robinson also excels in track and field, earning Texas 6A state high jump champion honors with a 6-8 jump as a sophomore in the spring of 2024. His father, Khadevis Robinson, is a two-time Olympic qualifier in the 800-meter (2004, 2012) and is currently the director of track and field at TCU. Jayce Johnson, the No. 2 quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class, released his top five schools list on Tuesday, and Tennessee Volunteers made the cut. Besides the Volunteers, the four-star quarterback narrowed his selections to the Texas A&M Aggies, Mississippi State Bulldogs, South Carolina Gamecocks and Florida State Seminoles, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett. "Elite 2027 QB Jayce Johnson is down to 5 schools and will announce his commitment on August 3," wrote Fawcett on X. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound signal-caller will make his final decision during the first week of August. The 247Sports Composite rankings also have Johnson, from Valdosta, GA, placed as the No. 2 quarterback in the class. The 247Sports Composite rankings placed Johnson at No. 32 overall among all the recruits in his class. Advertisement In Georgia, the same rankings have Johnson at No. 4. With Johnson, the Volunteers have an opportunity to land one of the top quarterbacks in back-to-back classes. For 2026, Tennessee received a commitment from No. 1 North Carolina prospect Faizon Brandon. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Brandon is the No. 2 quarterback and sixth overall recruit in the 2026 class. The Volunteers have landed just one commit in the 2027 class so far — three-star linebacker JP Peace. He is the grandson of legendary Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer. But it's still rather early for 2027 recruits to be pledging. Tennessee could land a huge early one, though, in a few weeks if Johnson chooses to come to Knoxville. Clemson running back target Jae Lamar announces commitment to SEC school
Clemson football came up short in the race for one of its top offensive targets. Four-star running back Jae Lamar announced his commitment to Georgia on Wednesday, choosing the Bulldogs over a final group that also included Clemson, Miami, Florida State, and Auburn. Lamar had been a top priority for the Tigers ever since he picked up an offer during an unofficial visit in March. He later became the only running back to attend Clemson's major official visit weekend in early June. The Colquitt County (Ga.) standout is ranked No. 107 overall in the 247Sports Composite and sits at No. 8 among running backs in the 2025 class. As a junior, he rushed for 885 yards and 11 touchdowns on just 112 carries, averaging nearly eight yards per attempt. Losing Lamar is undoubtedly a miss for Clemson, especially considering how much attention the staff invested in his recruitment. He was seen as a key piece of the Tigers' 2025 offensive class, and now they'll need to re-evaluate their options at the position. That said, Clemson might already be in a position to feel confident about the future of its backfield.
