Michigan football set for a key 2026 safety prospect visit on June 20 during Victors Weekend

Michigan football set for a key 2026 safety prospect visit on June 20 during Victors Weekend The Wolverines have been steadily looking at prospects from two regions in the 2026 recruiting cycle: the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area and the South (primarily Georgia and Florida). The thing about the latter is that it tends to produce high-level prospects, even those who aren't the highest-rated, due to the density of top-tier high school players. On June 20, Michigan football will hold its biggest recruiting weekend of the year, deemed 'Victors Weekend,' when the most-coveted recruits make their way to Ann Arbor in hopes that the maize and blue can close as many as possible. One prospect from the South is set to make his way to campus that weekend, highlighting just how much the Wolverines like his talent. Blake Stewart top four, official visits According to On3, 2026 Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy safety Blake Stewart has set four official visits, including Michigan football on June 20. but will also see Clemson on May 30, Vanderbilt on June 6, and Miami on June 13. Stewart is listed highest on Rivals, which has him as a four-star at No. 148 overall. ESPN also has him listed as a four-star as do the two composite rankings from 247Sports and On3. However, both of the latter in their proprietary rankings, list Stewart as a three-star. LaMar Morgan is the primary recruiter for the 6-foot, 175-pound safety. The Wolverines had a solid haul last cycle bringing in three four-stars at the position in Kainoa Winston, Elijah Dotson, and Jordan Young.

Michigan football named in top 4 by 2026 four-star CB Dorian Barney, visiting June 20

Michigan football named in top 4 by 2026 four-star CB Dorian Barney, visiting June 20 Michigan football recruiting is heating up, and it's hitting the southern region of the United States hard, trying to attract top talent to Ann Arbor. The Wolverines have seven commitments as of current, and three are within the SEC and ACC footprint, with one pledge from Georgia, one from Florida, and another from Texas. With official visits set to begin this week, the maize and blue assuredly will find more top-tier targets from down south who opt to come north and wear a winged helmet. One prospect that the maize and blue have been hot and heavy for, who is set to visit soon, just revealed his top group, indicating that the Wolverines are continuing to surge in his recruitment. Dorian Barney reveals top group and commitment date Michigan has been working hard on 2026 Carrollton (Ga.) four-star cornerback Dorian Barney, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound defensive back who is listed as the No. 75 player in the country according to Rivals. On Tuesday, Barney revealed his top four schools and the Wolverines made the cut, along with Penn State, Georgia Tech, and Texas A&M. He's set to make his commitment on July 5. Michigan has one cornerback tentatively pledged in Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin four-star Brody Jennings, the longest-tenured commit of the cycle. However, Jennings is being aggressively pursued by other top schools in his region and is actively taking visits elsewhere. Barney's visit to Ann Arbor is set Barney is set to visit Ann Arbor for Victors Weekend on June 20, the premier recruiting weekend for the maize and blue this cycle. Currently, Penn State has a lead in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, but there's still a lot of time for the Wolverines to surge in his recruitment. He visited Ann Arbor for the spring game this year. Also a basketball player, the visit to Ann Arbor will be crucial for the maize and blue to make up some lost ground, as the Nittany Lions have received the most visits thus far, with Barney having been to University Park multiple times, and Georgia Tech four times.

4-star OT Malakai Lee narrows to four, visits Ann Arbor June 20

4-star OT Malakai Lee narrows to four, visits Ann Arbor June 20 While some schools prioritize skill position players or quarterbacks or edge rushers, there's one position in Ann Arbor that comes at a premium: offensive line. Michigan football has built its identity over the past five years along the offensive line, which makes sense given that the current head coach and former offensive line coach and offensive coordinator, Sherrone Moore, played the position in college while at Oklahoma. Thus, the Wolverines tend to have a certain appeal at the position. As of current, the maize and blue have one commitment up front in 2026 in three-star interior player Bear McWhorter. But they're in good shape with some of their top remaining prospects at the position, as recruiting is starting to heat up with the official visit slate set to begin next week. A top prospect puts Michigan football in his top group If time on task is proof of anything, the Wolverines have proven just how much they covet 2026 Honolulu (Hawaii) Kamehameha four-star offensive tackle Malakai Lee. Given that it requires 10 hours of flight time to get from Detroit to Hawaii, the fact that offensive line coach Grant Newsome has made multiple in-school visits to Lee shows just how much Michigan wants him to be a part of this class. Those feelings are apparently reciprocated, as Lee included Michigan in his top four, along with Texas, Georgia, and Alabama. The Wolverines will get the final opportunity to impress, as Lee will close out his official visits with a trip to Ann Arbor on June 20. He's been on campus multiple times, having visited for the USC game last year as well as coming to town this spring. He'll also visit Alabama and Texas before making his way to Michigan for 'Victors Weekend.' Scouting report Here's the scouting report via 247Sports: From a traits standpoint, offensive linemen don't come much better looking than Lee. He's all of 6-6, 325 pounds with verified 36' arms and an 85'+ wingspan. He's a fluid mover as well and has the feet, balance and frame to project as a tackle and could line up on either side, right or left in college. He plays a little hoops as well and checks off the multi-sport box for us. He uses his length well and has the ability to slide and mirror opposing edge rushers. He has added some physicality in the run game over the last year. He's putting guys on their backs more but playing with a more aggressive edge to him is an area we think Lee can still improve on. Saying that, he's an easy high Power 4 prospect and if he hits his ceiling, he will be playing football for a very long time. On3 is the highest on Lee in the recruiting rankings, having him as the No. 85 player in the country, regardless of position. Lee has been to Ann Arbor more than any other primary interest, having visited Michigan four times thus far. Other than Lee, the Wolverines are in good shape for other offensive linemen, such as Leo Delaney, John Turntine III, Felix Ojo, Darius Gray, Kelvin Obot, Carter Scruggs, Zaden Krempin, and Jax Tanner, among others. Michigan currently has the only prediction for Lee via the 247Sports Crystal Ball.
