on Tuesday directed officials to create a comprehensive app for women in the city to access information about schemes for women in one place. Shinde said the various departments should work effectively to implement the Fourth Women's Policy 2024 was announced.
"Through this policy, the state govt is creating an enabling environment for women and girls. Keeping in mind the population of Mumbai city, emphasis should be placed on establishing hostels for working women, daycare centres for children, women's self-help groups in slum areas and other needy places, providing stalls to self-help groups on a rotation basis, developing tourism projects to increase women's participation in the tourism sector, and implementing govt schemes for women fishermen.
Implement various schemes for tribal women effectively. Work should be done to complete the projects planned to solve the housing problem on time, provide health facilities to women immediately, and increase health facilities in line with the times," Shinde said at the Fourth Women's Policy-2024 District Level Implementation Steering Committee meeting."Strict measures are being taken to curb violence against women. To make the security and other important schemes implemented by the govt available on a single app, an app should be developed in Mumbai city and made available to all women. The various schemes implemented by the govt to help women should be made available immediately. Women should be supported while filing a complaint after coming to the police station. The atmosphere in the police station should be such that they can file a complaint without succumbing to any pressure. The govt is taking complaints regarding women on a fast track. The administration should work for this as women also need to have a big share to take the state towards a one trillion economy," Shinde said.

As Rahul Gandhi repeats Maharashtra voter roll allegations, ECI says he did not respond to invite for talks
On a day when Rahul Gandhi demanded the immediate release of machine-readable digital voter rolls as well as CCTV footage of the last Maharashtra Assembly election, the Election Commission of India said that it had invited the Leader of Opposition for an interaction on the issue 10 days ago, but has not received any response. In a post on X, Mr. Gandhi shared a media report which claimed that in the six months between the 2024 Lok Sabha election and the Maharashtra Assembly poll, Nagpur South West — the seat held by BJP leader and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis — added 29,219 new voters. 'In Maharashtra CM's own constituency, the voter list grew by 8% in just 5 months. Some booths saw a 20-50% surge. [Booth level officers] BLOs reported unknown individuals casting votes,' he said. 'That's why we demand the immediate release of machine-readable digital voter rolls and CCTV footage,' he added. The Congress leader, along with allied parties, has raised these concerns about the Maharashtra election time and again, last in articles published in various languages on June 7. 'During 2nd Special Summary Revision-2024, which was taken up before the General Elections to Maharashtra Assembly-2024, the copies of draft and final electoral rolls of all 288 ACs were provided to representatives of all recognised political parties including INC (Dates of handing over the rolls to INC can be seen in the attachment),' the office said. 'Between draft and final publication of rolls, 19,27,508 claims & objections were received for consideration. As per law, appeal can be filed against wrongful additions or deletions in the Electoral Rolls. Only 89 Appeals were received,' it said. 'Congress seats also saw voter surge' Meanwhile, terming Mr. Gandhi's claims a 'bunch of lies', Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that there were over 25 constituencies in the State where voters had increased by more than 8% between the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, most of which the Congress had won. He advised Mr. Gandhi to speak with his own party colleagues before putting out such posts. He cited the examples of west Nagpur and north Nagpur, which the Congress won and which saw a 7% surge in voters, and also pointed to constituencies won by the Congress's allies where voters had increased by 9% to 11%. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde too hit out at Mr. Gandhi, claiming that the allegations were being repeated solely because of the loss the Congress had faced in the State.

Maharashtra govt okays Rs 20,787 crore to accelerate the Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway project
Mumbai: Reviving a politically sensitive expressway project that was put on hold before the assembly elections, the state cabinet on Tuesday approved the provision of Rs 20,787 crore to accelerate the Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway project. This expressway connects the Maharashtra-Goa border from Pawnar (Wardha district) in the east of the state to Patra Devi (Sindhudurg district) in the west. The expressway, which will be 802.6 km long, connects 12 districts of the state: Wardha, Yavatmal, Hingoli, Nanded, Parbhani, Beed, Latur, Dharashiv, Solapur, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Sindhudurg. Later, it will be connected to the Konkan Expressway on the Goa-Maharashtra border. Last year, the land acquisition for the Rs 80,000 crore Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth expressway was on hold until after the assembly polls due to widespread protests from the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Some farmers were reluctant to give their lands for the project, causing political concerns ahead of the elections. In June last year, after farmers from Mangaon village in Hatkanangale tehsil of Kolhapur district burnt copies of the land acquisition notification issued by the state govt to express their opposition to the Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth highway, then CM Eknath Shinde said that the project would be taken forward only by considering the sentiments of the public and taking them into confidence, and no project would be imposed on the people or taken away. This highway will reduce the travel time from Nagpur to Goa from 18 hours to 8 hours," officials said. "A loan of Rs 12,000 crore has been approved by HUDCO for land acquisition for this project. About 7,500 hectares of land will be acquired from this fund. This entire project will be implemented by the Maharashtra Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). This highway is an attempt to connect the Shakti Peethas of Maharashtra, and the aim is to achieve tourism, transport, and rural development through it," the official said. Protestors have claimed that despite opposition to the Shaktipeeth highway from farmers, the govt is still issuing land acquisition notifications without a hearing against the objections received. Meanwhile, on June 27, the farmers from Kavalapur in Sangli district will be carrying out a Rasta-roko protest in front of Siddeshwar temple at Kavalapur in Miraj tehsil of Sangli district. The 'Shaktipeeth Highway Virodhi Sheti Bachao Samiti' will be carrying out a dharna outside the Sangli district collectorate on the same day. An all-party protest rally was organised in Kolhapur to demand the cancellation of the 802-km-long Shaktipeeth Highway project, involving farmers protesting against the acquisition of 8,000 hectares of land for the highway connecting pilgrim destinations in Maharashtra.
