Latest RB rankings highlight unknowns at position for Jacksonville Jaguars
Now, the NFL.com's Maurice Jones-Drew has put together his annual running back rankings, and near the bottom of that list is Etienne at No. 28.

"He's under immense pressure to perform with Bigsby threatening his position as RB1 and with the Jags drafting a pair of RBs in Bhayshul Tuten (who has upside in this scheme) and LeQuint Allen," Jones-Drew wrote. "There are several scenarios that end with a player not named Etienne leading the ground attack for Jacksonville, but I think he still has juice left in those legs."
Etienne is coming off a 2024 season where he rushed for just 558 yards and averaged only 3.7 yards per carry. One major change under Liam Coen is that there has been a greater emphasis this offseason on getting Etienne the ball in space, which is where he has always been at his best.
The unknowns for the Jaguars at running back really lies in what the playing time is going to look like for each back. As Jones-Drew highlighted, it's not as if the Jaguars are short on options.
Tank Bigsby was one of the more efficient backs last season when it came to producing explosive runs. Bhayshul Tuten brings electric 4.32 speed and playmaking potential to the backfield, while LeQuint Allen has ample pass-catching experience.

On the flip side, however, Bigsby and Tuten have both had their issues with putting the ball on the ground, while Tuten and Allen are also currently navigating the learning curve that comes with making the jump to the NFL level, and in Coen's offense, that includes learning a robust playbook.
Success on the ground is a must in order for Coen's system to be operating at max capacity. For one, a strong run game keeps an offense ahead of the sticks and out of predictable passing situations, but schematically, the run and pass game concepts are strongly tied together in this system, so if one isn't working efficiently, the other can be affected.

Can you believe Dallas hasn't appeared in or won a Super Bowl since the mid-1990s? There are people I work with who weren't even alive then. The Cowboys were truly mediocre last year and they're hoping to bounce back this season under new coach Brian Schottenheimer. I don't know how Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones landed on Schottenheimer, but things aren't looking good for the team with a Lone Star. Vegas odds put the Cowboys' chances of winning a Super Bowl this year at about 2%. How very, very sad that Dallas' Super Bowl drought looks like it'll hit the big 3-0 after this season. When the Patriots were winning all of those Super Bowls, the big question was whether quarterback Tom Brady or head coach Bill Belichick was more responsible. Well, the Pats haven't won a playoff game since Brady left. Brady went on to win a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Belichick, on the other hand, is now coaching in college. They were so bad that they dumped their first-year head coach Jerod Mayo and brought in Mike Vrabel. This season? The betting odds say that they will miss the playoffs again. We're a long way from nobody being able to stop the Brady/Belichick duo. Delicious. Although they lost last night, the Lions have one of the five best chances of winning a Super Bowl this season. They have a better shot than any team that's never won one, except for my Bills. I used to joke that the Bills hadn't made the playoffs since before my bar mitzvah. The funniest jokes are always the true ones. They didn't make the playoffs from the 2000 season through the 2016 season. Those days are gone. The Bills are basically in contention all the time now. They have won a playoff game in every season dating back to the 2020-2021 season. This five-year streak is the longest in the franchise's history. The question is whether they can finally get to the mountain top with MVP quarterback Josh Allen. They have the second best chance, according to Vegas odds makers. If Allen and the Bills can do it, then who says the Lions, Chargers, Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings or Tennessee Titans won't be next?

Michigan State football extends official offer to 3-star TE commit Eddie Whiting
The Spartans have extended an official offer to one of their first verbal commits of the 2026 class. Eddie Whiting of Sioux Falls, S.D. received his official offer from Michigan State football on Friday. Whiting posted about the offer from Michigan State on his social media X account following receiving the official offer from the Spartans. August 1 is the first day for schools to extend official offers to prospects in the 2026 class. Whiting is a three-star tight end prospect in the 2026 class. He holds a recruiting rating of 87 and ranks as the No. 44 tight end in 247Sports' composite system. He is also listed as the No. 2 player from South Dakota in the class. Whiting was one of the first commitments for the Spartans in the 2026 class. He announced his commitment to Michigan State in early February, picking the Spartans over notable offers from Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, UCLA, Washington, Washington State and Wisconsin.
